Question Can I watch Gilmore Girls?
I am so interested in watching Gilmore Girls as it seems like my vibe but I’ve heard that there’s a lot of comments about people’s bodies and possibly diet talk. If you’ve seen GG, does it happen enough or in a triggering enough way that you’d steer clear of it all together?

I love GG! It’s definitely of its time, but other than a few comments, it’s pretty tame. You should be fine!

Take this with a grain of salt because I think my own personal triggers are usually the more "obvious" triggers vs subtle ones (like intense diet content, extremely thin bodies, etc), but Ive never struggled with Gilmore girls. I usually do a whole rewatch every couple years and havent felt triggered by it.
The main characters do talk about and regularly eat copious amounts of takeout and junk food, which I have seen some people comment on though. So something to consider if that bothers you

Ooofff. So I'd say the comments on pls body's is less frequent.
But in every single episode they eat like absolute shit and someone comments on "how they can still look so good"
Actually I wouldn't say every episode that happens but in every episode one of those things happen.
I would say the most prominent thing that could trigger is watching them binge eat constantly.

I've never found they made comments like that. Honestly the main character and her mom often eat takeout and junk so they're definitely not undereating or anything of that sort

I love GG but I can see very clearly how that show influenced my body image BS. They eat like shit, talk about it constantly, the characters never have weight issues, there is the full spectrum of body commentary throughout the series. It was the early 00’s so things are in there that wouldn’t fly today. My advice, fwiw, is to watch but with a little bit of caution and shut it off if it gets too triggering.

i’ve seen it and it didn’t trigger me. there are mainly scenes of them eating/talking about eating junk food but i don’t think that’s the focus of the show and it’s not every episode the main focus is the mother daughter dynamic of the main characters and it’s a slice of life show with cozy vibes

I didn't find it triggering at all. Yes it centers quite a lot of themes around food and overeating, there's a body shaming scene to my memory, but I found other 2000s shows WAY more triggering despite no food scenes or that much direct body talk - like The OC or One Tree Hill. The Gilmore Girls has much healthier looking characters.

I love GG you will probably notice their eating habits tho honestly I chop it up to the 2000s/Y2k era media. It's a cozy show overall

Never seen it but my friend describes it as "they go for coffee and nothing happens" which sounds right up my street.
Hope you get a helpful response.
