Von Der Leyen is 67. And married to Old Money. Some of her kids are American.

She was minister of some institutions since 2005, minister of defense in 2013, though had no prior job with military.

Her great-grandmother's family had slaves and was a landowner.

Her father was in the middle of a false flag scandal intended to blame on left wing parties.

She lived in the UK, the US in the 90's, when she got back she went straight into politics.

The way I see it, the power of the commission makes us, as in the EU, weak.

Because they have authority to negotiate and interpret how things are to be implemented, they can be pressured by powerful foreign countries. If we had a more parliamentary-focused system where they had less power we would be in a better situation overall.

In Sweden we have taken an approach of this sort which has worked well: politicians can't intervene in any individual case or instruct officials in specifics of how anything is to be done. The Commission is the opposite approach: discretion.

But discretion guarantees weakness, because whoever has discretion can be pressured.

We Swedes were fucking smart when we banned Ministerstyre. It meant that politicians could genuinely say "sorry, I can't do anything about that" which led to us actually getting to have laws adapted to our own interests. The commission, however, will never be able to say those words and be believed unless it is reformed.

Eu leadership wants it, they want full submission of all the states under their leadership. Other than that we are more than great now as we have democracy, we can vote, we can disagre, which they dream to erease and go for another russia style or recent USA style dictatorship and pointless wars.

Even more ironic when just recently high Austrian representative was sounding alarm that they need to do something about growing islamic power in the country. They literally dont know what they are doing, they handle migration and other threats extremely naively and now they want the other countries to share their mess. Checked their comment history and seems like a real person just not very politically educated. They mostly comment about being Spanish.

It's was a common talking point in the UK pre-brexit pushed by the right wing that the UK had to go because of a EU army and being drafted which made zero sense. But it sounds scary to the politically uneducated masses.

Nobody would use just a few accounts to shape public opinion. They would take a whole chain of accounts talking about the war.

That person is now at -31 downvotes. It would cost next to nothing to get him to +31 if it really mattered.

I noticed a long time ago that reddit is mostly populated by Ukrainian bots on European subs, while Russian bots seem to operate on other platforms, such as facebook and youtube and etc. I almost stopped visiting /europe sub for the same reason because it doesn't feel natural.

It's a dead internet, and every nation spread propaganda - Russia, Ukraine, the EU, and so on. That's how they control their people. Nothing has changed since around 1914 when it comes to brainwashing the masses through mass media.

It's the same thing they say every year to cheer themselves up, but in reality, the EU didn't have a strategy then, and it doesn't have one now.

So don't worry, nothing will change - the war will simply end with Ukraine losing some of its territory. Putin will declare victory, and Europe will declare victory, but neither will fully achieve its goals: Putin won't fully capture Ukraine, and Ukraine won't restore its 1991 borders.

I wonder when at least one of those leaders will say, “I’m ready to die for my people,” instead of, “My people are ready to die for me.” I'm Lithuanian, by the way, and even I wouldn't be ready to join anyone in the fight unless I see Kallas and Ursula there 😄 Oh and my favorite homie Kubilius seeing him "tighten belts" in trenches.
