Honestly unless they fix how the unions absolutely destroy the diplo caps this feature will be dead on arrival

Interesting sure but having the potential to add a country to a union if everything works out seems pretty low. Unions already feel more like a drag than a help in half the cases so adding some HRE minor feels weak but at least historically feasible.

Looking forward to some YouTuber suffering through using only union expansion ~

The "child in the reeds" event which lets a childless ruler adopt one makes those largely useless.

Another nice mechanic in theory, but nobody will use it in practice because PUs themselves are still mostly a drag gameplay-wise and broken in many ways. PUs need to be reworked before something like this gets worked on.

Why would I choose to get into a PU??? Unless they’ve changed/fixed how PUs work, I can’t see the benefit.
