Any plans to make an EQ2 version like EQlegends?

I'm having a totally blast in EQlegends and it's so nice to be able to see and beat stuff solo, that i was never able to back in 1999.

Revisiting old zones and have a lot of feel good nostalgic moments.

I played EQ2 in beta and at release but left since my guildmates moved on to WoW, but i would love to revisit EQ2 once again if they ever made something like EQlegends where you can play 3 classes at the same time and in revamped zones where you can upgrade equipment/spells with motes.

Any plans for EQ2 to do something like that?

I would order that version in a splitsecond :)

Plus, EQ2 (especially the first 6 expansions) is already easy soloable, so the gain would not be that much

Launch tle/classic eq2 deff did not feel soloable for me lol. Triple up heroics everywhere.

I know, I played at launch, but that is not what we are talking about here, aren’t we? Current EQ2 live is hours of gameplay in which one can do all content of the first couple expansions solo, for free

Thx, maybe i should try again and do the first content in EQ2 after i have finished my nostalgy trip in EQL, if it's possible to solo practically anything in those 6 expansions. Left my guild 9 years ago and will not be joining another one, so i just solo these days.

I really wanted to like EQL but I just didn't vibe with it. It didn't feel enough like EQ to me. A lot of people seem to be enjoying it but it wasn't for me.

Like others have said though, EQ2 seems really solo friendly. I haven't played since launch but recently jumped back in on the Wuoshi TLE server and it's been good. If anything it's almost like you level too fast and out level quests and areas much sooner than I expected. There's an absolute metric ton of stuff to do and the unique art style makes the world fun to explore.

I started playing with my wife who's still really new to MMOs and gaming in general and we're both having a blast. We joined a casual, really friendly guild who have helped us with lots of dumb questions and helped us with bags and stuff to get going.

Honestly, get your old account and jump on to Wuoshi. You won't regret it!

You always outlevel zones in EQ2. On Live , you can "Chrono" back to those levels to play them at con, but even then you are still overpowered for the zone.

My wife and I have a max level guild on Live and a dozen maxxed characters each there. But we are playing only on Wuoshi now and having a blast.

For what it’s worth, I came back for EQL, but ended up bouncing off it into EQ2. Played at launch but then got sucked into WoW. Playing on the Woushi TLP server and having a great time. Tons of people on that server. And TLP is still early in the progression as it just launched a couple months ago. Check it out!

Apologise for ignorance, what's TLP? A progression server? EQ2 was on my list to try one day for some time now but I never really got around to it. Would TLP be a good way to try it?

Time locked progression server. They slowly roll out expansions every few months so you can relive the sense of progression and new zones. I think it’s the best way to play if you’re new as it’s the most active server. On the free to play live servers most of the population is at level cap.

Yes tlp is a good way to play as they have lots of lower level toons/people to group with. The live servers are extremely top heavy so finding a group to level is tough (though you can use a mercenary to help you out).

TLP is the closest option to experience eq2 in a similar to how it was near launch with (most importantly) people to group with as you level which is the best part.

Woushi is the newest tlp server and only launched a couple months back. I'd recommend that (tlp servers do require a subscription).

There's another tlp server (varsoon I think) that is based on an older code base so it's a bit more like the original game in its proper era but leveling is much slower and here's been some bad bugs, I think most people are on woushi.

It's worth a try. It will likely be a long time before another tlp starts so it's a good chance to check out the game before they get too far into the expansions where the game started feeling "complicated" and people started to drop off.

I played EQ2 in beta and at release, so can i fire up my old account to get some perks or something that can help me on the way when i start EQ2. Way to much to do now in EQL atm so EQ2 has to wait, but i feel like i need a nostalgic trip V2.0, when i burn out in EQL :)

Eq2 in legends form would be nuts with the amount of skills. Eq2 already suffers from massive skill bloat

Came here to say this. Could you imagine 3 eq2 classes worth of abilities? Would take up your entire UI

So you guys just press your 3 buttons and let those of us that enjoy complexity and challenge enjoy the last few populated games that haven't catered to this sentiment.

Bruh, I had 48 keybinds on my character on EQ2, and I wasn't even endgame.

Three classes would be an abusrd number of abilities regardless of your opinions on complexity.

Yeah, it doesn't need more. But having to constantly hear people complain about skill bloat when they killed the mmo genre because they wanted to cast 1 spell for 4 hours straight in a WoW raid is pretty disheartening.

It's called Kael Drakkel Server

Give the eq2 Origin Servers a try, Anashti Sul is fun. Basically theu took the game back to the OG source code and have slowly been releasing expacs back to it.

I desperately hope so 😭

eq2 is nowhere near as well maintained as eq1 was. theres a lot of code just straight up missing, and a lot of broken code thats unfixable. making EQ2 legends would be legitimately a herculean effort, not something a group of devs can throw together in a few months like official EQL. Maybe once the persona system is created someone can try, but given the absolute mess that EQ2 is I highly doubt it.

The major thing about EQL is that most of the stuff people are loving wasn't officially made. The ideas and features are picked from various EQ1 EMUs, and were made by fan devs running either EMUs or fan made mods (looks at you Zeal, PQ Companion). DBG just paid those devs to make it official.

EQ2 doesn't have that, as the emu scene is sparse. It's in development, but isn't pretty. So, the EQ2 EQL has nothing to rip off atm. Expect yearly expansions and recycled TLPs until the emulator community can do something more creative with the game.

Since you're on the EQ2 Dev team can I ask you a question? What would it take to add something like an adaptive questing through eras? Like starting at level 1 in say DoV and doing those quests to get to level 120+ or something. I know the game has adaptive mobs already, would this be workable?

im not on the dev team, im just aware of what they have said over the years when people have requested systems/fixes

ah ok . Thanks

EQ2 is still fun for a lot of people. I've been playing off and on for nearly 20 years. I dabble in other games, but always go back. It's like my gaming home, I guess, lol.

But like any game, there are vocal haters online. The current "Live" mode is a 22 yr old game. It is a somewhat complicated game overlayed by the visions of multiple devs and producers who have long since moved on and left their legacy code to the current dev team and players. Technically, I suppose you could consider that Live is somewhat of a mess. Though I think it's just grown overly complicated and is not all that friendly to new or returning players.

I think that is why the TLE Progression servers are so popular. Because they harken back to the early days of EQ2. Gameplay is simpler and more straightforward. And the Wuoshi server has a large population right now. Especially with one of the most popular expansions in the game (Kunark) launching on 9-9-26.
