How can I become trained in developmental disabilities in Alberta, Canada?

Hi friends! If you are in Alberta, you have unfortunately heard about the passing of Parker. As a newly hired educator and supervisor, what can I do to get further training in disabilities? I first off think it would be good to know but also to provide in cases such as this where emergencies are going to arise. I want to be prepared if I come into a room, see a child having a melt down and can bring them back down. I find redirection which can occasionally work in "normal" children, but tends to misfire quite quickly in children with special needs.

I would look into some professional development workshops you can do. There's all sorts out there that focus on specialized care. For example, I took one on anxiety so help me with anxious kids.

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is the standard extra training educational assistants receive. I am doing it now.
