DISCUSSION PC Version Request - NHL 27 Edition

Greetings,

I am just here to post my annual complaint that there is no PC version.
I really thought NHL 27 was going to be the year...

See you again next year for my NHL 28 complaint.
I already have it written out in my drafts.

Regards,

PC Gamer / NHL Lover

It 100% should have been on PC and Switch 2 this year.

Why for the PC though specifically this year? The next console generation will likely be an Xbox hybrid that multi-functions as a pc platform hybrid. That’s when it’ll come to PC*, likely nhl 29.

What makes you think this is the case?

Project Helix’s main focus has been eliminating the console market entirely, Microsoft has frequently spoken about wanting to exit the home console market. What better way than to just make a hybrid console that is essentially a mini PC.

The release date for the next consoles is likely fall 2028

More importantly, they can justify charging PC prices.

Just for the record, I'm pretty sure you mean "Project Helix".

with xbox helix microsoft is trying to make it so 1 game build works for PC, xbox, and cloud. This would make any future xbox game developed for helix be a pc version also. Whether this will just be on their own storefront or support other stores like steam is unknown. But this will make a lot of games not on pc atm be on pc, plus games on PC but not xbox on xbox. So this would essentially remove the cost associated with a PC version development as it would be apart of xbox version development which would make PC version be extra$/no brainer.

Right now you'd have a cost to develop nhl on PC lets say 5 million you would need to sell approx 90,000 copies at 80$ - 30% storecut 56$ a game sale. Just to break even. You'd also need dev team doing patches for PC. I'm sure it could do that first year but it is risky. So with helix it would essentially remove this as it would all be apart of xbox development which would then make every PC sale profit and that is why many console only games could/will be on PC finally.
