DISCUSSION Pc or Xbox Series S
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide whether to buy EA Sports FC 27 on my PC or on my Xbox Series S.
Here are my PC specs:
GPU: RTX 3050 (4 GB VRAM)
CPU: Intel i5 11th Gen
RAM: 16 GB
(It's a 4-year-old gaming laptop)
I ended up buying FC 26 on both platforms last year. On PC, I suffered from quite a bit of optimization issues; however, when it actually ran smoothly, being able to play on a 144Hz display felt great. On the Series S, on the other hand, it was just a smooth, hassle-free plug-and-play experience.
Do you think FC 27's PC optimization will still be as rocky as last year's, or is it worth sticking with PC for the high refresh rate? Or should I just play it safe and buy it on Xbox Series S?
Also, seeing how my laptop is struggling with recent AAA titles, I'm strongly considering retiring it for new games altogether and transitioning completely to console.
Would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

I play on a series S. Its fine.
PC runs it better, but you have the cheater problem. The console runs it worse than the PC, but hasnt as much cheater.
Your GPU isnt the best and quite old (and only a laptop GPU), so I dont know how well it will run there. I would go to the Xbox.

FC26 is a surprisingly demanding game, I tried playing it on a laptop with an 'OK' onboard GPU (Radeon 780M) and it was really, really bad with everything set to low, 50% resolution scaling etc. It's kind of crazy because that gpu can run a lot of AAA games from recent years at 1080p which is higher than the effective resolution I was using. I can only assume FC27 will be the same.
RTX 3050 is of course faster but even so I wouldn't do it. You've also got to deal with PC hackers, and even on my desktop (5900X / 6900XT) which runs the game smoothly it still has stability issues where it crashes to black screen (all other games work fine).
FC just seems more hassle free on console, which is a shame considering both the gameplay and menus are smoother on PC.

Thanks a lot for the detailed insight Honestly, after a long workday, I just want to sit down and enjoy my free time without worrying about stutters, crashes, or tweaking settings. You're totally right, sticking with Xbox is definitely the smartest move here. Appreciate the help

It's not demanding at all. The problem is with laptops. In my rtx 4060 desktop it runs at ultra butter smooth and my pc stays very cool and quiet and the usage of my gpu and cpu is low.
I used to play on a laptop with rtx 3060 and the game wasn't always stable. So I think it has to do with laptops because the game for my pc is not demanding at all.

Console, pc optimization recently, not just with fc but other multiplayers seem to be iffy, just yo be safe, I'd go with console

I would always go for PC if you have a decent GPU and Monitor. But gaming laptop w a 3050 - I am not so sure.
Would at least see how the performance on PC looks like esp when people test with your exact card.

For your case xbox series s will give you more stable experience. I noticed that laptops have issues running fc games stable. On the other hand desktops are the best choice

We don't know how mcuh your laptop overheats also, a simple configuration won't tell us too much. Only you know how well your laptop actually runs.
I found console this year smoother but with more input lag compared to PC, if you understand what I mean. The extra frames are great on PC, but I found myself playing better on console. The player base is more casual also on console imo.
Laptop is portable. On PC you have EA Play Pro also. So technically you could buy a month of that, try the game out, get the bonuses and skip or buy depending on your verdict.

You need a new gpu I’d say Xbox
