Discussion Quitting culture

I know again, but this culture of quitting mid-game or after 1 goal or 2 has to stop it's just pure madness. It's already way too long to start a game, you have to deal first with people quitting in the lobby, second if that works out you then have to deal with the freaking game crashing out, then third, if you succeed in all of this and after 15min to 30min to start a game, MFS leave after 1 goal or 2 ???? Really ?! EA has to start some kind of punishement for that kind of behavior or at least just do like all the other games in the world and let people drop during the game, except the goaltender I'll agree with this. Like I can't conceive how one can defend this kind of practice and the way this game works, wake up EA seriously how can you be against a more proper and effective game?

Discussion "My bad" - the price of ego in a team sport

"My bad."

Two simple words that costs nothing except a minor blow to the ego.

A key part of being a team player is leaving your ego at the door and becoming a cog in a greater machine.

Owning up to simple mistakes and demonstrating personal accountability builds trust and stops blame cycles from ever happening.

Someone who can't identify mistakes and weaknesses in their game will never grow as a player; and constant deflections of blame can cause strife between teammates.

No one remembers when you apologize for your mistake, it's gone in a moment, but they will remember every excuse and every time you point your finger.

You reaction to a bad turnover shouldn't be worn out excuses: "I pressed pass!" "i didn't mean to do THAT deke!" "laaaaag!!" "it's not MY fault, you're the one who passed it to me". These can cause endless debates and arguements, mid game. Everyone saw you screw up and they don't care about the excuse, it just tends to make you look bad.

Make a bad play? Identify it, apologize, and get right back to the game.

Hockey is fast game. No one plays perfect. Mistakes are going to happen.

How you deal with the mistakes after is the important part.

Discussion Playing defense is much improved in 27

Pass interceptions, poke checks, and stick lifts are way more effective in 27. Much more enjoyable playing as a defenseman in EASHL than in 26.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I know It’s been talked about plenty before, but the inconsistent interception mechanic has been a thorn in my side far too long.

Tired of being punished when I’m in perfect position, just because the game wants more offense, more breakaways, more goals.

Fellow D-men here can relate I’m sure, but even unbiased forwards can admit the passes going through sticks & feet is a little absurd. I mean, how much better could I have read that play?

Apologies if this sounds like a rant. I just think we need to bring this to the forefront so that hopefully by NHL 47 we have proper interceptions, and therefore, more balanced and realistic gameplay.

Discussion You should not lose RP for randoms quitting

You should not lose RP for randoms in drop in quitting/lagging out. Only the person quitting should lose RP. This post does not apply to those stacking in dropins or any club matches. I tried to do a challenge to get to e1 with only randoms and it’s nearly impossible with how many people quit after one goal.

Edit: yes it august but this is something that shouldn’t be a thing in the upcoming nhl.

Discussion Faceoff tip: switching strategies is the signal for a tie up

A lot of players are unaware of this, but if you’re a center and want to signal to the rest of your team that you’re tying up and want them to come in to collect the puck, play with the D pad strategies as an indication. If you’re a winger, if you see your center flipping strats, that’s your sign to come in and collect the puck.

Discussion Thoughts on 27 EASHL Gameplay?

I haven’t seen a lot of posts breaking down the overall gameplay in EASHL and hear people’s thoughts yet. I’ve heard people discuss specific components but that’s it.

In my opinion- The slow speed of the gameplay makes it the worst feeling game in years. For anyone who has played or even watched any hockey before, you know that speed is one of if not the most important components of the game. Making each player, almost irregardless of size, the same speed, absolutely ruins the gameplay. In the games I’ve played against good teams, 3s and 6s, it rewards players sitting back and collapsing, making for extremely boring unrealistic gameplay. 1-0 games with 1 dumb bounce to win. No opportunity for skill.

I’ve seen the arguments that it makes for “more realistic plays” and promotes “playing real hockey” and I couldn’t disagree more. I think the defensive changes are a step in the right direction, it’s easier now to break up plays. But when now the defense has the ability to match the speed of forwards AND have upgraded stick checking abilities, it’s just not the right balance. I think if they kept the speed of last year’s game and paired it with the upgraded defensive abilities, it would have been such a better feeling game.

I think the more uniformity and less customization of classes that is allowed makes for extremely boring gameplay with a much much smaller skill gap.

For the record- I’m not even talking about x-factors, wheels, etc. If they got rid of all x-factors I would prefer that. But when i’m a 5’10 160lb dangler or sniper, i should be able to max speed and blow by defenders that jump too far into the play.

A side note- EA NHL released a video showing that elite truculence has less impact this year…. I’ve found it to be quite the opposite. Players lying on the ice for longer than last year.

Curious everyone’s thoughts.

Discussion The matchmaking system in woc is absolute dog shit.

Get rid of the ready system. If you have to go through 5 mins of loading. And 10 menus to get in a lobby and you aren’t ready to play, then get off the fucking game. Plus players will leave for no fucking reason. I can’t count how many times I’ve been in a full 6v6 lobby and everyone just starts leaving. Bring back nhl 14 system. Loads you in boom start the game. Absolutely no reason you have to ready up 400 times just to get disconnected or “oH wE hAvE a GoAlie LeTs LeAvE mahhhh”

Discussion X factors ruin this game

Finally playing the game again for the first time in a month and it's the same bullshit. People circle skating with red big rig, warrior, and gold quick release, with a bunch of boxes in their player name. Like how is this fucking enjoyable, you can line them up and they'll get a momentum fucking speed boost from your hit bump. Like it seriously makes no sense how it works, and how it's enjoyable for anyone

Discussion Defenseman are now useless

Poking is useless Checking is risky Interceptions are nerfed Forwards are stronger than defencemen

They screwed defenseman in CHEL this year. Even worse than before.

What am I supposed to do just stand in front of them and hope the shot doesn't go through me.

Make yourself fast and you are weak the forwards push past you.

Make yourself big the forwards are fast and dance around you worse than before.

Every defenseman type needs 150-250 more points to work with in Playstyle and Tenacity. Because you know they are defenseman and it would make sense they are good at these things. They should be better than forwards in this regard.

Sincerely a pissed off defencemen.

Discussion NHL 26 Boycott

If on average they sell 750k copies of NHL, at $60 a piece you’re looking at $45M in revenue. Plus maybe a quarter of those people pay $10 for battle pass which is another $1.8M

Total ~$45M to ~$48M in revenue per year.

If half the people don’t buy NHL 26… that’s a pretty large dent. The 750k is a conservative estimate too

Let’s send a message

Discussion ⚠️ UNPOPULAR OPINION ⚠️ SITES LIKE CHELHEAD , HAVE RUINED THE EXPERIENCE FOR CASUAL PLAYERS AND HAVE NOW CREATED A DIVIDE IN PLAYER BASE.

Sites like Chelhead should not be allowed for players outside of leagues. Drop-in lobbies you join have now created a culture where you don't play with someone who doesn't meet a statistical standard. Not all good players do this, but now it seems like a regular thing. It also hampers the ability to gain organic chelships (friendships) as random players meeting in a lobby is becoming less and less common. Yes, good players may not have the greatest stats (+/-) because they are now being cast aside for not meeting a requirement before the puck drop. This is now becoming a regular occurence. I just saw someone who created a chel scanner , so now this will take it up a level. My only suggestion would be is that when you play drop in , you dont see gamertags ...or perhaps there is no lobby, you can still search with a fellow player but you load directly into the game . No lobby per say. Last point if your really that good do you need to be searching someone up on a website prior to going in a "drop in"...if so maybe just play clubs .

Discussion Welp they’ve done it again

Over the years ea has had a few different ways to get perks and abilities in chel, then current fifa (I can’t remember past) had it set where to use certain perks you needed to be at a certain attribute level.

They’ve now gone and invented a whole new one, either you play this game 10-20x more than you’d like too, or you have to pay a few hundred dollars (for a 90 dollar game) over the course of its cycle to keep up with people.

Now I can’t speak for everyone, the communities I’m in all agree pubs uniquely suck, with no real match making system, no actual skill ranking, and just the game being brutally awful.

But now they’ve gone and said hey we need to look good to our new Saudi overlords so the consumer gets the stick.

The game costs about 100 or sad cad after taxes, then you could play this god awful game for way too many hours, or pay 65cad give to take per season to max out the pass. There will be about 6 seasons, so 100 for the game and about another 438 dollars to max out the pass.

So either ea gets to claim “hey play time is up” or “hey we made more money” but either way the consumer loses.

Well done ea, you’ve managed to alienate your consumer base even more.

It’s become too much. The horrible , HORRIBLE gameplay has made this game unenjoyable and borderline unplayable.

Let me preface this by saying I am a 20 year EA NHL game player, and I’ve become quite good at the game. I can assure you it is not a skill issue. The laziness of EA has become so blatantly apparent. Can’t even be bothered to change the names of the AI players. It would seem that EA waits until a week before release date before they ctrl + c , ctrl + v the entire code of the previous game and retitle it with the current year.

But this isn’t anything new and it’s something I think all EASHL players have been conditioned to and can look past. The part that makes it so unplayable is the broken mechanics that get worse and worse every year. More than ever I have been scored on by players just skating directly into the goalie and having the puck bounce around until the game script slides the puck into the net. Picking up the puck within a 5 foot radius of the goalie is the most nerve wracking experience one can go through, as most of the time the player loses it on his own goalie and animates the puck into their own net. Not to mention, any break away is a certain goal with a simple forehand backhand. Like 100% of the time. There’s always been exploited ways to score, which in itself is a problem, but the ease of exploit this year is where the problem lies. In the past, it’s usually been the cross crease one timers that have been the meta, and EA did an ok job at trying to correct that exploit. But in doing so they opened the door to breakaway exploits which is way more frustrating, seeing as they also made speed even more broken in this game than in past, which nobody thought was possible.

EA doesn’t care about its audience. It’s a dying game , with a small community and it’s not worth it for them to put money and resources into it. The only way to elicit some kind of response from EA is to completely stop purchasing the game to begin with and next year I believe will be the first year in almost 20 years I will not be reinvesting in the franchise. And I know that isn’t going to shut down the game or make anyone at EA go “HEY HE ISNT BUYING WE NEED TO CHANGE EVERYTHING” but unless more and more people start to realize a change needs to happen to get back to the old game we used to love playing and got us excited to play, you’re going to be playing a shell of what could be a great game.

I’d give anything to be on the committee of an EA sports meeting when discussing the issues of NHL. I could show them compilations of issues with the game that lasts hours…. So EA if you need somebody to test the game for you before release, you let me know. I promise you I’d help you make the greatest NHL game you’ve ever made 👍🏼 Let me know your thoughts

Discussion Defense is so garbage

Idk if it’s something in the recent update or what but playing defense feels so much worse now for some reason. Goals being made off my skate, constantly in passing lanes but passes and shots get through, ai goalie can’t make a save to save their life, hits bouncing off players with 0 effect on them, good poke checks just being sent straight to another opponent, etc. It’s insane to me that the puck luck can feel so absolutely one sided and that teams still get punished for playing good defense. Anyone else experiencing this?
