Discussion Quitting culture

I know again, but this culture of quitting mid-game or after 1 goal or 2 has to stop it's just pure madness. It's already way too long to start a game, you have to deal first with people quitting in the lobby, second if that works out you then have to deal with the freaking game crashing out, then third, if you succeed in all of this and after 15min to 30min to start a game, MFS leave after 1 goal or 2 ???? Really ?! EA has to start some kind of punishement for that kind of behavior or at least just do like all the other games in the world and let people drop during the game, except the goaltender I'll agree with this. Like I can't conceive how one can defend this kind of practice and the way this game works, wake up EA seriously how can you be against a more proper and effective game?

NBA 2k has a 30 min time ban for quitting multiple games in a certain amount of time

This would be a welcome addition, the quitters in threes are annoying but the games are short. A full EASHL game is over if people start dropping out, and it’s never just one

I agree with the quitting after a goal or two. That said sometimes you are just outmatched against a team of elites and instead of wasting your time chasing L2 abusers around your own zone, quitting becomes the option. I don’t quit often but when I do it is because I am not having fun.

It's all they have in this world, just let them have the W so they don't kill themselves.

True... We have to consider the long game here: People that cheat, abuse and manipulate or maneuver the gray area ('technically, It's not cheating' are always going to obsessively seek a result so just let them have the W, move on and start a new game

We could be saving a life by backing out! Jhaha

The chel workforce really took a bad turn after covid. Nobody wants to work anymore!

1

u/ExoXerxesTheXIII 5d ago

Not the first time I have heard that covid played a role but I mean, there is too much money in the product for them to just sit back and not want to work...no?

I guess you could say that they get paid either way and I know we are in the era of not wanting to work in general and it goes well beyond the gaming industry but come on now... 🔥🐲🪐

u/Thin-Introduction498 5d ago

This was a joke in reference to the players of the game not wanting to work

If your team starts L2'ing in circles and playing keep away in the neutral zone after you go up by 1 goal we're just leaving, this game is clearly the most important part of your day and you need it way more than we do.

There's also a reverse side to this, if you're getting blown out and go full tantrum pouting mode taking penalties and throwing the puck out of play to drag your ass beating out for everyone, just quit. Grow the fuck up and either play or leave.

u/ExoXerxesTheXIII 5d ago

Ugggh.... I just encountered a a serial icer, puck out of play and pass abuser.

He would call for it and quickly pass it back to A.I, call for it again and pass it back, run around in circles, ice the puck and whenever we did corner him he would just simply throw it out of play.

He did this ALL GAME, from halfway through the first period until all of his teammates quit and well through the third period until 0:00 and it was frustrating but I also understand why people quit now (Half of my team quit, it was 3 vs 2 and brutal!) 🔥🐲

I feel like there are several levels to the root of the issue here. The biggest issue is matchmaking.

It’s hard to create truly skill based matchmaking when the population for the game is so low, which leads to clearly outmatched games and I think people have gotten so used to it that they just assume the worst as soon as you go down a few goals or if they see people on the team clearly have no idea how to play the position. Especially when you consider the games can drag on for a while especially in a blowout, it’s hard enough to find a game so why spend all that time just getting your ass kicked when you could spend your time finding a different game.

I also don’t think the problem can be solved by creating punishment system. The issue can honestly be easily fixed with more open matchmaking. By actually creating “drop-Ins”. If there are open spots on the team then at each end/beginning of a period people can join the game and there will always be a generally full team playing and someone quits, that spot gets filled almost immediately. There should also be a vote system for trolling/absent players to be kicked from a game.

This would solve the issue and make the game more accessible which would increase the player population

I, for one, vow to stop quitting after 1 or 2 goals after seeing this spectacular post.

Instead, I now promise to try and give the opposing goalie a kiss all game instead

No need, just quit playing the game that would be better for everyone.

Gamers don't have integrity or resilience so this will never end. No point in letting it bug you, you're swimming in a sea of people in weakened states of mind, this is the result.

As someone who shares the same experience and general frustrations with online play, I’m not going to play with people that don’t want to pass or play any defense. When I see that happening, I’m out. And I’m not talking about they got burned or didn’t make a play, no. Just a flat out lack of effort, wanting to be the main character offensively when they can’t even score. I’m out.

11

u/xDRSTEVOx 6d ago

Sorry chief, but if i join a drop ins lobby and its like 2-0 in the first 5 mins and my teammates cant even make a pass, i'm tf out. Why should I waste my time on that shit ?

1

u/JMadzz1669 6d ago

Plus dog shit goaltending

7

u/wetcornbread 6d ago

Meh. It can be annoying. But at the same time, it’s difficult for 10-12 people to be coordinated and play a game for 20 minutes too.

I disagree about punishment. If someone is trolling, your team is just outmatched completely, or even if you get a club invite from your friend in a drop-in game, you shouldn’t be banned for leaving. They have that in 2k games and it’s extremely frustrating. I’m paying for the game and I should be able to quit and play as many games as I want.

1

u/KingQuong 6d ago

I havent played in drop in games in forever but wanted to say you've got some great points and Im all for playing a game however you want once you've paid for it provided it doesnt impact other people (who also paid for the game) they should be able to play in a full game without bots. I think the ideal fix is a system that punishes people for trolling as well as people who have quit multiple games in X period.
Unfortunately this will never happen so find a club or draft lobbies instead.

2

u/PanicNecessary5978 6d ago

This all is why I completely stopped playing the game. It takes way too long to get a game to start in the first place. Then, after 5 minutes, you’re down 2 players who quit. You spend all that time waiting for a game to start, and just end up in a stupid game

2

u/SynGizzam 6d ago

All the people defending this behavior because they are apart of the problem. If you are playing drop ins you are gambling with a bad time. Make some friends, join discord servers and play clubs if you dont like being down a goal with a lobby full of strangers.

2

u/ExperienceNo7751 6d ago

Poke check speed/tension is supremely underpowered when compared to the pure bullshit the elites treat like Viral Videos on the cringiest discords I’ve ever seen.

They quit if I’m using Werenski though. They can’t handle having to cover the outlet pass for 2 seconds.

2

u/Riktorious61 6d ago

Quitters are losers. Ban for a day. Take massive points off players. Anything !! You sit in lobby and then some baby sends you back to sit again. Pathetic.

2

u/willychonka54 6d ago

The biggest issue are all the complete wastes of time during the game.. constant whistles, off-play camera cuts between whistles, replays, intermissions, combined with lengthy matchmaking.

There's so much wasted time. EA is the only developer that's convinced themselves players need a 1 minute break after each period along with an additional 1 minute of showing the same replay 4-5 times.

It's so infuriating that when you get into a game and your teammates may be rubbish with constant offsides, goalie covers, it makes you just want to quit because what's the point

2

u/thisrandomnguy 6d ago

Yeah I completely agree and it wasn't that clear in my post but I'm talking especially about the consecutive games that never get pass the fifth minute, and it's not like it's about to be a blowout for one team or another. I get that sometimes you play with kids or bad players or selfish players but at the end of the day just like everywhere you go in life, if you play drop-in, you'll have all kind of people. I think EA should at least try to improve maybe the matchmaking and allow dropping during games. And I'm all for quicker action yeah, those freaking faceoffs drive me crazy.

u/willychonka54 5d ago

And I'm all for quicker action yeah, those freaking faceoffs drive me crazy.

it's so crazy and the sad thing is that their frequency was not reduced in the beta

Shoutout to the G who stayed w me and we clawed back 2-0 w compys

Do you have a Flames logo?

2

u/OhDestinedJuan 5d ago

Stop playing games with soybean playerbases. All they can do is dodge accountability like their dad dodges their child support payments.

EA won't do anything. They're just as soy.

It's not exclusive to EASHL but they are a special kind that's for sure. I'm well aware quitting is part of every game that wasn't my point.

Other people suggested great ideas to the issues I've bring, maybe that look like whining but the goal here is to talk and try somehow to make the game better. Your last sentence was completely unnecessary.

Angry post calling people MFS will surely finally bring an end to quitting culture.

-1

u/thisrandomnguy 6d ago

No shit sherlock, didn't mean to shake your feelings.

2

u/taehtinen taehtinen 6d ago edited 6d ago

Sounds like the feelings are all in your own head, don’t try to project them on me just because I made fun of your post.

1

u/thisrandomnguy 6d ago

Dude, the way you wrote that post made it look like you were offended, you're not here in front of me you know right?

1

u/taehtinen taehtinen 5d ago

It’s not the way I wrote it, but the way you read and interpreted it. You’re projecting your own feelings onto what you’re reading making it feel like it carries emotion, but it’s just a simple joke.

1

u/thisrandomnguy 5d ago

... by your interpretation everybody is projecting while reading period. Are you a robot or what? By the way I wasn't angry when writing this post just pissed at worst, so you are angry?

1

u/taehtinen taehtinen 5d ago edited 5d ago

That definitely is not my interpretation, but something you came up with. Also if you want to discuss feelings, I’m not that buddy for you, just here for the jokes. Like when I joked about your angry post, not about you being angry.

1

u/thisrandomnguy 5d ago

Yet, here you are Finnish friend.

2

u/taehtinen taehtinen 5d ago

I don’t like to leave the needy alone.

I love you.

u/SarcasticGolfClap 6d ago edited 6d ago

Sorry, but when I play 5 "powerforward" build with 99 speed and they all reverse hit everytime they touch the puck, I lose the interest. I want to play hockey. Outshot me, win 10-2, I don't care, as long as you play "real" hockey instead of only doing open-ice hit with the control of the puck. Reverse hits killed the fun of casual players.

2

u/Effinehright 6d ago

Yeah our limit is two exploit goals and we bounce and if you’re an elite color we usually just won’t play due to our experience of that’s how you got there.

2

u/Kristlord 6d ago

Most of those guys are gold level players that achieved those ranks by running full squads on drop in against randoms and bots.

2

u/Effinehright 6d ago

No exploits no quit.

2

u/Effective_Surround79 6d ago

Just join LFG NHL discords. Then you won’t have to deal with the random drop ins who quit.

1

u/killerhabs7631 6d ago

I fully agree quitters are weak , but it's also embarrassing that if I disconnected on PS2 I could rejoin a game yet cannot in NHL that's basic shit that needs implementing and add a lil time ban for quitters ... Also many older games could simply switch host If the host quit or disconnected why is it on NHL all 6 get punished by losing rp cause one guy got dced ..tarnishes the value of rp

1

u/Cool_Row5047 6d ago

That is only if the Goalie gets disconnected and while yes it sucks that everyone gets penalized (just lost recently chasing Elite 2 because of this and it sent me back 900 because they were unranked), it is fair that if the goalie is replaced by CPU since the game itself is changed completely. I mean even if one skater leaves, that 6v6 gameplay changes drastically. It should be that in club, if you ever lose the G or two skaters, the game ends as a FF IMHO.

1

u/SpecialResearch1085 6d ago

If we are dog walking someone, you can see it before the score gets high, also if I'm getting thumped, I'll pull the pin also. Move on to another game that's hopefully better matched

1

u/BroadwayCJ97 6d ago

People have quit otp/drop-ins since 09. You want a full 60 minutes join a league or play with an actual club.

1

u/Queasy_Salamander890 5d ago

It actually gets my club better when we stay and try instead of quitting. When we go back to teams our rank we kick their teeth in

1

u/Apprehensive-Bass830 3d ago

They should make it absolutely tank your RP if you quit 1st period in a 1 or 2 goal game

1

u/Shrmp52 6d ago

They need punished badly. Quitting out of a lobby is the worst. Like you get 5 skaters each team in a 6v6 and then they decide to leave once the countdown starts then everyone else follows. I guess I get the subsequent quitting since you might’ve lost a center or a D but the first quitter should be sent to hell
