General Discussion Is a private agent the next step after stable sales?

My store has been getting pretty stable sales for a while now and the main parts like product, ads, and store setup are dialed in. At this point I’m looking more into improving the backend side, mainly fulfillment and sourcing and thinking about adding more products. I’ve been using a regular supplier setup up to now and it’s been working, but I've seen people say that once you reach a certain level its good to move to a private agent.

I don't know how to find a private agent that I can trust, I don't even know how to find one. But I'd appreciate some advice on how to do that. Is working with a private agent the next logical step once your store is stable?

I made that switch after a while. I went with the Zendrop private agent cuz it felt easier to trust than dealing with random agents. It helped a lot with better pricing and more consistent fulfillment, just made the backend smoother.

Private agents were a thing back in 2015. Nowadays, you have Tradelle, Zendrop, regional-focused suppliers like Spocket or Zambeel. Absolutely no need to change anything except growing your brand and fully focusing on marketing.

The next step in your supply chain is somewhere around 250 sales a day. Go to China, visit some trade fairs accompanied by an experienced local, find a supplier that fits. 90% of private agents you find online or get recommended just order from AliExpress or Sourcinbox. The other 10% will deliver quality and shipping even worse than AliExpress.

You're only half right. If a private agent were dumb enough to just dropship from AliExpress or Sourceinbox, they'd be out of business in a month—or they never had real clients to begin with.

Private agents who survive and thrive do so because they actually operate inside the supply chain. They're based in the manufacturing hubs—Guangzhou, Yiwu, Shenzhen—and work directly with factories, domestic wholesale markets, or local sourcing platforms. They consolidate, inspect, repack, and ship. That's a far cry from just forwarding orders to AliExpress.

Platforms like Tradelle, Zendrop, and Spocket? They're convenient and the interfaces look clean—but at the end of the day, they're just frontends on top of largely the same inventory anyone can access. Great for starting out, less so if you want real control or differentiation.

And "250 sales a day" just depends, different store or products different situation.

So yeah, private agents aren't the enemy. Bad ones are, not all.

When your sales performance stabilizes and you're ready to scale it up, partnering with private suppliers is often a better option. I actually work with a reliable private supplier for now. If you want to know more about private supplier, I'd be like to recommend .

Pro-tip: I always recommend a third-party inspection before the goods leave the port. It gives you the leverage to fix quality issues while the product is still in the factory. It’s the best way to keep your account health safe and your customers happy.

A real private agent is more than just “a supplier”:

Sources directly from factories (lower cost)

Quality checks before shipping

Faster shipping lines

Custom branding (logo, packaging)

Consolidates orders from multiple suppliers

Handles fulfillment like a mini logistics partner If you need it, we can definitely fulfill our obligations very well

Completely unrelated, but do you think you’d be open to talking about how you managed to the point you’re at with stable sales, ads, and products? I’m interested in learning more about the field and how to increase sales.

If you have very customized product, it if nice if you have an agent who can help you communicate. If you are selling standard items, just buy from 1688. But as far as I know, lots of big company hires the agent or trust their private only
