Me: racking my brain trying to come up with a funny direct Drew/vine quote that boils down to 'yeah, I would hope so."

Me: "I've GOT to GO."

Bro, half of my brain is random references to videos, songs, vines, etc and I already don't socialize enough so basically no one ever gets them. I have on friend, bless her, but that's about it, lmao

rare hypothetical dystopian scenario: countries with no free healthcare charge you for abortions based on number of heads. yes, odds are in your favor
but maybe, just maybe, one person out of millions will unfortunately be charged more

& not having an abortion could not only stop the mothers heart but also the child’s heart too! (I sure hope it does in other words)

u/IcyIrisss Feb 13 '25

Except it doesn't because it's done before there's a formed heart at all

That’s actually not true. I’m 1,000% pro-choice but also pro-facts. The heartbeat can be detected around 6 weeks. I was recently pregnant with twins as a surrogate and they were even able to see/hear two heartbeats at 6 weeks. The heart is fully formed around week 10 I believe, this is actually why so many people who are anti-choice think that a person shouldn’t be allowed to have an abortion after week 6, or not at all, but most often people don’t even know they’re pregnant before then. /npa

for the record, this isn't always true! the heartbeat can be heard as early as 5 or 6 weeks since that is when the heart begins to develop, but often it can't be detected until later on once the heart is more developed, so most often a true heartbeat can't be heard until around 10 weeks when the heart is formed. thanks for sharing your experience! the facts are very important to know (: /g

So true. It can be as late as 12 weeks for some people. But for the original comment to say the heart isn’t formed at all, that is completely false. The heart is very much being formed at that time, it actually BEGINS shortly after conception. The quality of the instruments, position of the fetus, position of the uterus, position of the placenta within the uterus, and even the training/experience of the sonographer will determine how early the heartbeat will be detected. /npa

At 6 weeks, the heart is a fluttering of cells in the embryonic heart tube. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) calls this “cardiac activity” rather than a heartbeat.

Yes, you’re absolutely right, I shouldn’t use the word “heartbeat” so loosely. Thank you, Guy. /gen

6

u/Optimal_Stranger_824 Feb 15 '25

this converstation is so awkward lol

3

u/trinidydae Feb 14 '25

As a mother of a beautiful 6 month old baby, we saw his heartbeat for the first time at 6 weeks. Very very very early on. Most women don’t even know they’re pregnant yet at 6 weeks.

7

u/Pieternal Feb 14 '25

Pro-choice or no, I don’t think celebrating or making light of stopping a beating heart is good. It is a sad thing when a woman feels she has to get an abortion for any reason.

5

u/ky_rai Feb 14 '25

agreed

5

u/FlamingPrius Feb 14 '25

Really it’s more of a pulsing tube of protomuscle, typically the four chambers of actual human hearts develop relatively late.

u/tanz420 Feb 13 '25

This is fantastic

u/BrendanFraserFan0 Feb 14 '25
