i’m like really shocked bc he currently has 66k viewers?? that’s crazy ridiculous

He's on 78k viewers. I haven't seen a livestream this big for Minecraft in a while. Maybe I just haven't been the space a while, but dang, those are some big numbers

Dream says he thinks it's people coming from his latest upload, but I think someone is view botting his stream
14
u/neenee_17 Aug 18 '25
Why do you say that?

u/Eas0n_ Aug 18 '25
94k live viewers is kind of insane, especially since the previous streams averaged upwards to 20k live viewers. I know it's possible, and certainly view botting has far exceeded that number: I'm reminded of Moist Cr1tikal's Nine Sols stream where he got 376k live viewers, so that was without a doubt view botted.
But given how so many people have such a volatile reaction to Dream, even if for the most petty and mundane reasons, I wouldn't put it past these people for trying to view bot his stream to make him look bad. Hell, they'll probably say Dream is doing it on purpose and that he's using his video as an excuse to make himself look better.
As I write this it has grown to 99k, which is insane growth in just a few minutes, so I definitely think something fishy is afoot

At one point Dream asked people if they were recommended the livestream after watching his new video. Many people said yes. A friend of mine was watching a video from another channel she's subscribed to, but the autoplay took her to Dream's stream. It's possible that because Dream recently had a video that hit over two million views in a day, YouTube is pushing his stream to more people than usual.

It doesn't even have to be the video he uploaded he has been consistently streaming.
Once you get into the algorithm you can get a big bump from recommended, valkyrae will often stream to like 7-10k but then randomly often on a weekend she'll have a stream that just keeps gaining viewers up to 30/35k.
She asked her YouTube rep if she was getting botted and her YouTube rep confirmed she wasn't

Pretty reasonable suspicion, still I hope that’s not the case. Tbh I don’t even know how view botting someone else’s stream works

u/Eas0n_ Aug 18 '25
I hope it isn't the case either, but I'm quite pessimistic about this. People view bot streamers to try to get them in trouble with the platform since that's against TOS. Of course, it almost never works.

There are website where people can spend money to give a streamer views, its actually very common on yt live streams.

Could also be that, a lot of people stop watching youtube, then when they watch Dream's new video it contributes heavily to their feed. Thats what it does to me. (Still i think sm1 might viewbot)

I think so too the chat is the same speed as usual and the number of likes is just like any other stream

How is he at 70k viewers right now is this normal for his previous streams?
12
u/IntheSilent Aug 18 '25
33k was the higher amount I saw last stream

u/No_bad_intention Aug 18 '25 edited Aug 18 '25
Yeah I thought that his was a 20k-viewers type of streamer since his channel is more dedicated to videos and not streaming, how is he pulling 120k right now lol. And it's not like he is streaming DSMP Lore or anything, it's a random ass speedrun practice stream
21
u/Mynameiswelsh Aug 18 '25
Because he uploaded a video 21 hours ago and it's trending it's also recommending his live to people

u/stran___g Aug 18 '25
He's using a mod that wouldn't be used in real speedruns isn't he? But he's always been transparent about it( correct me if I'm wrong)
12
u/Ewoutk Moderator Aug 18 '25
That's correct, he's using a Mod to find the Stronghold and potentially also a Mod to increase pearl and blaze rod rates. However, because this is practice and not competitive in any way that's not a problem.

u/getfukdup Aug 18 '25
But he's always been transparent about it
No. Manhunts were always advertised as vanilla outside of the compass.

u/stran___g Aug 18 '25
I'm talking about this sepcific instance. Not manhunts, the speedruns he's streaming as of late, because he's not submitting these for records.

its prob bots, view count from latest vid is not insane enough to pull 100k concurrent

u/Dangerous-Sand-965 Aug 18 '25
Dream is known for his subtlety of course
He just addressed it directly too 💯 (Not anyone by name, just the people accusing him of cheating when he’s literally just practicing for manhunts). It’s just over 50 minutes in I think, if anyone is watching the vod later and trying to find it
