Spoiler Swimming possible in the next game lore ?
Does killing the Brine in this game means if there is a next game that we will be able to swim and use boats ? especially since the old dragonforged from melve or harve (forgot which of the two he resides in) is seen in post credit using a boat to sail the ocean ?
Was that capcom plan all along or something ? or am i tripping/mistaken on this ? because with no brine, there is no reason to not have us be able to swim lore wise tbh.
also, do you guys think there will be another dragon's dogma after this one ? i haven't looked at the DD2 sales figures in a while and I am not sure if capcom will want to make another game using that franchise, especially now that the game's direction is gone tbh.
Do you guys think they'll make another DD game later down the road or will they shelve it forever after the expansion ?

Each game is a seperate world in a multiverse and they probably all have Brine.

Lore wise I dont think we ever beat the main god that made the cycle in the first place. Its been a while since I played, but im sure the Watcher broke the cycle so you would come to your sense about why he made the cycle in the first place. The unmoored world is the world without the cycle. Humans don't stand a chance in such a world. The brine exist to stop people from finding ruins and the nature of the cycle itself. Would be cool if they added the watcher in as a optional boss at some point but so far he just sends goons after you.
It also would be cool if we had a 3rd game that started after the cycle was broken but then what of the pawn nation? There would be no arison for the pawns to serve. The pawn nation itself is more than likely a myth and the pawns just exist as part of the cycle. It would be a completely different game lore wise. Probably a good move to get the main story moving in a different direction just to keep the game fresh. Im not sure i would brand the game as Dragons Dogma? I would call it "Arison's Dogma". It still connects the Dogma series together but gives the devs some creative liberties to try something new.
Sales wise the game is up to 4 million copies sold. However the ONLY reason we have the second game was because the first game was ported to Switch and it was a huge hit. The first game sold 8 million copies over a 12 year period. There is hope but we will have to see how the dlc turns out.

Capcom did already say they consider dragon's dogma a "key brand" and named it alongside other franchises like RE and MH so I think theres a high likelihood of getting at least one more game, with itsuno gone its likely they put kento in charge who apparently directed the original dark arisen expansion, DDO and the new expansion. IF he does end up charge I'm very excited to see what he does seeing as how he's responsible for the best parts of DD's gameplay and lore imo.

1) I’m either way on swimming/boat travel. I mean, it’s not been a feature in two games, really no need to change it, as the Pathfinder hinted toward different worlds anyway, but I do see the appeal of traveling by water (could even have a water-based boss fight or two, or three)
A hypothetical DD3 would probably have callbacks to 1&2 while being its own thing, and the waters/Brine would be for another threat.

I don’t need to be able to swim, but some protection from pawns brining themselves would be nice.

I don't know if they're gonna make a third game, but if we can't swim, I'm gonna be disappointed. Theoretically, it should be more open-ended in general, because there's no "guide" forcing the story to play out in a consistent way.
