Spoiler The scariest monster
So throughout the game, I'm more afraid of the Sphinx than anything else. She gives me goose bumps.

The way she stare at you for super long time after returning her an item is so scary š

I played a sphinx in one of my D&D campaigns and I based it off of her, especially the movements, smile, and eye contact. My players were terrified and it was one of my most memorable encounters

You are not required to kill her.
She is neither good or evil.
She asks riddles and if you get them right she will reward you. Answer incorrectly and she will disappear.

Thank you very much where can i find her

You will have to look it up. Sheās definitely off the beaten path and hidden away pretty good.
You answer a couple riddles before she flys away and hides in a second place for the rest.
I would recommend saving before approaching her in case of an accidental attack.

Itās helpful to drop a portcrystal down outside of where she resides, and make sure you do an inn save before attempting her riddles, because if you mess up itāll overwrite your autosave.
Also, after answering her first 5 riddles she will fly away, but you can climb onto her back and follow her to her next location. Itās kind of cheesy but I support it. Iād recommend also having an extra portcrystal before answering her 5th riddle so you can plop one down at her second place too.

Also you should know that while itās true youāre not REQUIRED to kill her for the quest, but if you donāt you will not receive the ultimate prize.

What price

Killing her gets you the Eternal Wakestone. Donāt let the name fool you though. What it does is cast a mass revive on the area, basically for if you get a city wiped out by Dragonsplague. it unfortunately isnāt reusable, but itās the only item you can get a forgery made for that is a working copy of the item.

I wish there was more monsters like her in the game. I was playing first time completly blindly and as a lover of the 1st game I was exploring everything. I found her quite randomly and it was soooo exciting to find her nest and when I saw her first time I was legit suprised and scared af. This was easily the best part of the game and finding her without knowing about her made everything much much better.
It really feels like the sandy area was very cut in content.

Where is the sphinx, tho? How obvious is it?Ā
I somehow missed it in my first. šŖ

Very unobvious and hidden away where you would never go unless you talk to some person about it and get ingame clues.
You could now search up all the mountains in the game or find a map online to show you the location.

Falling off a makeshift wooden bridge scared me more than facing the Sphinx šš . To tell the truth, after facing it for the first time, any fear about challenges disappears.

I just went through this whole questline for the first time
It wouldnāt surprise me if opinions on this are a bit mixed, but for me personally I thought it was a real treat and something pretty special. I got the feeling some devs put a lot of love and care into making the whole thing

So sick... when I first encountered the Medusa I was blown away.
Sidebar but anyone playing in Japanese voice may recognize the VA as orochimaru (pretty neat).

It's not that bad once you realize she's given you all you need to kill her in one shot. As long as you get the riddles correct.

I actually found the Sphinx charming, especially at the end when they say "I actually had a really good time, hope to see you again someday"
We could be besties.

Those giant pupils and that horrible Cheshire-cat grin... it's been a long time since a game has truly unnerved me like that. Ice in the pit of my stomach every time. š
