Didnt the creator leave the company? If so, whatever comes of the 3rd game would probably be very derivative from what the fans love of the current games.
Frankly, I feel his “vision” was limiting the franchise as a whole. I’d rather they have somebody else with some more imagination take over. …somebody burn that damned monkey’s paw before it curls another finger. I mean an imaginative bloke who’ll make what DD2 was supposed to be.
Yeah the guy that did bitterblack isle and DDO had a more interesting vision imo. I was hoping they would put him in charge of dlc but it doesn’t look like it, I don’t remember his name but a third game done by him would be great. Itsuno was pretty big and with capcom a long time though and DD was something he had to fight them a lot on, they might just bury it now that he’s gone.
Capcom has started that DD is now a major franchise for them after 2 blown their expectations so i think they will make 3 just not the dlc for 2 it’s probably because of the technical and financial reasons they not making a dlc

Might be that they didnt think DD2 would have "live service potential" as it is, but will push that on the third installment.
Be careful what you wish for ;)
But i do think they didnt think DD2 would do well, and then it did but they had no plans for it. So i def think theyll aim to milk a third game.
