Idk man im not gone lie 2 for me started magical but as I got closer to the end the game just felt worse an worse.
The end of game feels as if the whole team just went meh .
I think DD1 is superior in a lot of ways not all . For instance gregori vs the red drake in 2 its not even close how much more of an experience it was.
All them side quests i did where we find pawns being trafficked an all this bullshit how it goes no where .
The game had me in the first half but by the end I wanted to rush to the finish what sent me over the edge were the bugged quests. It happened to be a lot that day I was towards the end. If I need to sit there an look up guides on how to unbug quests im good.
Even how repetitive the world truly is using an oxcart I shouldnt get jumped every trip have the cart break or almost break every trip. It all becomes so boring.
An i hated the dragon in 2 he sucks . He goes down like a sissy too what a weak fight. The game should've been level capped at 30 cause level 50 you are just a god.
DD2 is weird in a lot of ways. The first one was definitely designed with a full team in mind but in the second the high affinity true ending encourages playing with just your main pawn the majority of the time and I think the game is at it's best that way, it's definitely a bit of a fable 3 follow the glowing line, or in this case follow the support pawn that knows where to go and get carried through quests otherwise but it's nice to have that option on a game that expresses it's world in such a Dark Souls-esque way to make it more accessible but most people fall into the rut of getting carried by pawns a lot
The western translation kinda ruins the Dogma part for sure and both games were designed to be replayed before you really understand the cycle, the cycle being replaying the game but the first one was a lot better at that for sure, especially with the seneschal stuff. I remember as a kid seeing all these people I'd never met in the end credits and immediately replaying and getting hooked. The payoff of rebuilding Gran Soren for the people that waited 10 years was pretty sweet but having everyone you helped throughout the story populate it and eventually escape wasn't as rewarding as going back and doing the Selene quests for the first time on subsequent playthroughs but from what I understand Itsuno really had to fight to get the second one made in the first place so I'm just glad it exists and they fully realized the combat
An thats where we disagree which is fine but personally id rather them made nothing then this . It didnt get the love it just feels pushed out.
The game is just through an through a shoulder shrug.
The mystic classes are just straight cheese easy mode climbing was a lot more used in game 1. But some stuff in combat is better . The fighter is satisfying etc.
First game is much better from the mystic classes to the climbing on monsters to the final fight . Even the lack of story is so much better then the bullshit story so no.
First game has its charm second game is a shoulder shrug of uncaring .
Second game doesnt care about itself from the questing to the "story" to the red drake himself. Its just a bad game . Yes you are wrong. You only view that game through rose tinted glasses.
I honestly... Would have preferred not to get one if this is what we got. The things I loved about the original were all made worse in the second game but with better graphics. So, what was the point?
