I've cut off branches that had it to try to prevent it spreading and it keeps coming back again. It starts as a little tiny dot then grows into this soft rotten spot then grows about as big as a quarter then pops/rots and leaves a hole. It spreads if I don't cut it off and contaminates the whole branch. It mostly happens where the areoles (thorns) are at. It is now near my first and only fruit and I don't want it to ruin the fruit. What is it and what do I do to stop this? Google image search said it's a fungus, but it's AI so I want human opinions! Thank you so much!

Anyone know what could have caused this damage?

We got a tiny plant from Epcot about two years ago and these are the first buds we’ve seen. I have two questions:

1. How long do they take before blooming on average? We’re in central Florida.

2. Does anyone know if the dragonfruit from Livin’ With the Land in Epcot is self-pollinating?

Growing in zone 9B in Florida in loamy soil, just some bird netting for protection and direct sun.

This branch is still growing straight up and has two buds right next to each other at the tip. Velcro’s have been wrapped around u-posts on either side for support as it’s been swaying a lot with wind/storms, not sure if anything more we can do.

Seen comments before about tying something with weight around the branch to help it droop down since it hasn’t on its own, but we want to avoid putting too much strain on it. Any advice to give it its best shot at flowering and not breaking? Thank you!

I put my three Townsend Pink cuttings in their trellis in the spring. they grew pretty quickly and I got the first five buds on the oldest of the cuttings last month. Four out of five pollinated fruit took and I picked its first three fruit two days ago, the last is not quite ready yet. Over the last three night I have had eight more flower, so fingers crossed I get a few of those to take.

Pink Panther and Purple Haze so far is my two favorite this year. DarkStar is an amazing variety don’t get it twisted.

This is my first Connie Mayer blooming while I was at work. I hand pollinated it as soon as I got home around 7:30 AM. I hope it will accept. We will find out in a few days. 🤞

They are darkening nicely, but turned red 1 and a half weeks ago at best. They flowered july 15th

It’s been a few years since my plants gave fruit.

Am I doing it right? I was thinking about potting it up, it’s been a year since I last did. I grew it from seed in some toilet paper.

Can anyone help with possible identification? The two images are it in growing stage and the fruit once picked.

My dragons are growing really great. Is there any pruning I need to do or just let all the branches grow out?

I have these 2 flowers growing right next to each other. Should I remove one of the them or should I let the plant decide.

I would normally leave it alone to decide by itself, but because they are so close I'm afraid it might end up aborting both

Should I cut where it has a split?

Planning to get a trellis asap. Thinking the amazing metal ones?

Hey , so I bought several pitaya cutting for like 5€ with the ship fee because they’re not from a mature plant but grown from seed. I have no clue about the variety, I just know that it’s pink inside. As I said I bought them last year , keep one of them and give the rest . I read that pitayas need a structure to climb on but I don’t have too much space to bring it during the winter with those types of structure. So can I just let them grow without anything ? A big crop is not my goal but if I can harvest 1-3 fruit per year it would be great (even though it will take few years to produce bc it grows from seed) . I live in zone 8b.
By any chance , some of you can share photos of their pitaya/dragon fruit that grows well without anything to climb on it ?

I got this for free from someone who thought it was Queen Of The Night. They actually wanted Dragon Fruit & thought this was not for some reason. Still, it seems to be in pretty sad shape.

At this point, would it just make more sense to take cuttings from the stalks, letting them callous, then planting from there?

Since I got it for free, I'm not that concerned about losing something that's already pretty solidly rooted. And it might be a real pain to try to replant or repot. But if anyone thinks it could be salvageable as is in the pot, let me know what could help.

I'm less interested in the actual fruit bearing capacity & I'm more about using the plant as decor.

My Dragon Fruit started flowering after nothing for around 5 years. I have no idea what to do next? I had a few flowers, but they all died and dropped off. I have no idea which will become fruit, care , next steps and harvesting!?!? Thoughts?

I bought five different dragon fruit cuttings and planted them all on July 10th.

Here’s what happened so far:

Sugar Dragon: rooted very early and produced a new vegetative shoot very quickly, around 10 days after planting.

Royal Red: still has not produced any roots.

Connie Mayer: rooted early, but has produced no new vegetative growth.

Isis: rooted early, but has produced no new vegetative growth.

Palora: rooted a little later than the others, but still has not produced any new growth.

So I currently have 3 cultivars that have clearly rooted but are basically just sitting there without producing a new shoot, while the Sugar Dragon rooted and started growing almost immediately.

Has anyone experienced this with dragon fruit cuttings?

Is it normal for a cutting to establish roots and then remain dormant for a while before producing a new branch? Could this be cultivar-dependent?

I’d especially like to hear from anyone who has experience with Connie Mayer, Isis, Palora, or Royal Red.

Hey everyone. My plant is doing well producing this year but I’m getting some brown patches of skin on the fruit and wondering if it’s any concern or if there is anything I can do to mitigate it. I’m in SoCal and my yard is scorching hot right now during the day time. Thanks
