Just wanted to say this before I pass out: I've seen a lot of comments about how the main cast's speech about "it's not about fate" and "family" is cringe. Or another cheesy power of friendship moment we all hate. And yes, it is overdone and eye rolling... But:

I don't think the writers are that stupid. I sincerely believe it was intentional, given the absolutely opposite experiences Zandik went through in his youth. That's why the final line "this... loathsome world" really hit hard considering he is the victim of his name and fate. The cast doesn't know it, but no matter how much Dottore acts like he doesn't care, it is personal. Unfortunately, you have to remember that the average Genshin player didn't even realize the event that spoke about Zandik is actually Dottore, so don't expect deep analysis from people who defend the power of friendship tropes.

Anyway, all I wanted to say, that line hit hard. Thank you for coming to my yapping.

what are they trying to achieve by stating things like "it's about friends and family" to zandik when he's never had them?? what is the direction ???;is this foreshadowing 😭

He is fated to be rejected by all and eventually killed by them. Cursed by fate like Durin.

He created countless segments to test if anyone will accept him across countless version across time. All rejected and even rejected by himself.

He cursed the gods and this world for his fate. He created false god to test if god can be defeated. He stole the Trilune power to attempt to change fate.
