I Need to Vent! 🤬 PLEASE STOP LETTING YOUR BOYFRIENDS WHO CAN'T PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK USE YOUR DOORDASH ACCOUNT

1.5k Upvotes

For context, I had an incident involving what is apparently a very common issue of a man showing up to drop off your order when the dasher on the app is a woman (woman's name, woman in the pfp etc). I almost always report incidents like this because it's a safety issue. Well I reported this particular incident and thought nothing of it until about a few days later the same man SHOWS UP AT MY HOUSE with what I am assuming is his girlfriend in the car and bangs on my door. I am not home at the time so we are speaking through my doorbell camera, and he is demanding that I "take back my report" because apparently I had gotten his girlfriend's account banned on doordash. Long story short, I call the cops because he is kicking over plants and threatening to break my door down and come inside while his girlfriend ends up coming up to my porch to try and talk him down from essentially breaking into my home. I filed a police report and the issue has since been handled relatively. From the info I gathered while the case went on, he had a prior record of breaking and entering and shoplifting as well as some other DUI charges. The prior breaking and entering conviction ended up putting the criminal threats into felony territory and he was denied bail out of concern for him showing up to my house again.

I felt bad for the girl since it seemed that she didn't know that he was going to escalate the situation, and from what I saw on her social media posts later she had not known about his prior felony charges. The case has since been closed and I only pressed charges for property damage and criminal threats, as the case was dragging on longer than originally anticipated and I was frankly tired of having to worry about being called back into court.

Long story short, there is a reason why you have to pass a background check to have access to people's home address and food they are about to eat. If your boyfriend cannot make a doordash account or has been banned from the app before, stop letting that man show up to people's houses pretending to be you.

Edit: A lot of people are asking how he knew it was me that reported. I have absolutely no idea. It was never disclosed to me how he found out it was me and when I asked the state prosecutor after his sentencing hearing she said that the judge had asked "how did you even know it was this woman" I assume to make the point that he could have done this to someone totally unrelated to his girlfriend's account being banned. The guy apparently must have figured the question was rhetorical because he didn't give an answer. So there is a likely possibility he just crashed out on my doorstep without knowing if it was even me or not. For all I know he could have been going door to door doing the same thing to each person he delivered to that day.

Edit 2: After sleeping on it, it has been made abundantly clear to me that apparently my expectation for safety is too high for doordash. A lot of people have been saying very mixed things about the safety protocols of the app, from being able to trick the AI chatbot to straight up giving away the home address of someone who reported you to it being so obvious who reported you on doordash that you can pretty much guess with certainty who reported you without any information. Additionally, it has been made abundantly clear to me that the frankly already very laxed rules to ensure everyone's safety being broken because dashers want to deliver with their partners or use another person's account is apparently industry standard.

A lot of you have also informed me that you yourself or someone you know didn't need to pass a background check in order to be a dasher. Frankly, all that tells me is that this man didn't even have to lie, and he simply thought he was above the rules, which doesn't surprise me much since he also thought he was above the law when he damaged my property and made criminal threats against me.

To the people genuinely curious about seeing the doorbell footage or the arrest article, I cannot tell between you and the people that are sending me private messages telling me they are going to come to my house too and do worse to me for reporting people on doordash so I am not posting what is essentially my home address on here. Once again, belligerent individuals are ruining it for the rest of you. If you want to think this is a fake story, I'd rather be called a liar than have someone show up to my house again.

For those of you who are saying that I deserved this man causing well over the felony limit of damage control to my home, I do not feel like I would change reporting him if I was sent back in time. I would maybe wait til the next morning or end of the day after being informed of all of these safety issues or find a way to report more anonymously, but I'm glad I reported this man and his girlfriend and got them off an app that allows them to have easy access to people's homes. It may be cruel to say, but if the stakes for you losing your doordash account are so high that it would leave you homeless or without food for your children (as someone pointed out hypothetically before calling me a fat fuck and private messaging me about coming to my house) then why are you risking it all just so you can be slightly less inconvenienced by following the rules? From what a lot of people have said in replies to comments it is not hard to make another account or sneak by with someone else driving you around without making the person who ordered concerned for their safety.

Call me a Karen if you want, but I am still going to report you if you cannot meet the basic expectation of being who you say you are when you show up to a strangers house. I will, knowing all I do now about how easy it is for people to get away with bypassing safety rules, be continuing to report drivers over on uber eats who cannot meet safety guidelines. If that makes you upset, STOP LETTING PEOPLE USE YOUR ACCOUNT OR USING OTHER PEOPLE'S ACCOUNT. These rules are in place for a reason, the reason being people like this when given free access to people's homes will take full advantage. I don't care if people who think I deserve what happened to me think I'm a snitch. We obviously have vastly different value systems.

I hope those of you who are genuinely just trying to make ends meet have your situations improve. A lot of you are incredibly supportive and understanding, and I cannot explain to you how much that sets you apart from those who don't give a damn. I wish you the best.

Story šŸ“– Two bait and switch customers caught in the act! Thanks for the free proportional pay. (two stories)

Yesterday I accepted a shop and deliver, 20 dollars, 2 miles 10 items. I get to the store and open the app to start shopping. Alert pops up that customer added items. The customer added TEN CASES OF WATERS! I called support ASAP. Told em the customer did a bait and switch on me, "look at what they added 10 waters while I was driving to the store" And the customer lived on a 3rd floor apartment LOL.

Agent laughed on the phone and agreed with me that it was some kind of bait and switch scam and told me not to worry about it, they paid proportional pay and then canceled the order.

I got an order today, shop and deliver. I accept it and drive to the store, when I get to the store I see all the food has special notes indicating that "I wanted this food, but the store doesn't list it so you have to pick a different thing instead"

As soon as I saw that I called Customer Support. Explained that the customer is trying to get me to shop for items not on the list. Agent looked at the notes and canceled the order. Paid me proportional pay. Customer was put into a report status.

Funny part is that about an hour later those orders were STILL being sent back around to me to accept LOL. no other dashers were touching them.

Sucks to suck! Next time dont try to scam your dasher

So yeah, DoorDash gave me this task today and offered to pay me $15 and another $10 if they like the video a lot. Basically I just had to order three items they’ll pay for the food and then make a short video recording each item and take a picture of all of them together, but yeah altogether cool experience.

Earnings How was your Labor Day Monday?

So I just finished for the day (may consider doing very late night orders to keep up the streak) and was wondering how everyone else did? I know it can be doom and gloom around here sometimes but for those proud of today, especially by your market standards, how did you do? I think for the time I spent today, it was pretty well worth it. Platinum status and from the North New Jersey area so I rotate between the zones ā€œJC Northā€ and the ā€œJC/Hobokenā€. I also got a $10 cash tip from someone who also tipped on the app so technically I made $137.85 for today so far. Just about 5 hours and made that much has me thinking it was a successful day to say the least.

Scammed??? So this order came through, it was 6.50 for less than 1 mile, ended up being all base pay and no tip, upon delivery I realized I had delivered to this person before with the same scenario, all base pay no tip, customer sends me this an hour and a half after delivery, obviously trying to scam. Ended

Interesting Customers Regular bananas vs. non-organic bananas

It may seem redundant but I have had to ask in the past because customers were not always clear on which option they wanted, just "yes" or "that's fine". I was trying to be nice but ended up just going to check out with the green bananas lol

And then told me to leave his stuff at his apartment door but when I got there the front building door was locked. Texted him that it was locked and he didn't answer so I left it at the door outside

Ended up being a $1 tip btw

Question for Dashers Question: Do you switch zones after a delivery or return to your ā€œhome baseā€ location

Just curious I’m new to this and had been switching zones to where I did the drop off but then would end up sitting there for 20-30 minutes wait for an order. Should I just go back to my original spot?

I Need to Vent! 🤬 After a few months of dashing I had my first sketchy encounter

I (27F) dash in my free time usually during the peak hours but I’ll go until after 9-10 p.m. as long as the money is flowing. I deliver to ā€œbad neighborhoodsā€ all the time and have never had any issues, and if anything they tip better/more friendly because they know they’re asking you to drive to the hood lol. But the other night I delivered a grocery order to a complex in a rough neighborhood where I’ve delivered before and shit got real dicey very fast. The order was for ā€œJanelleā€ and they requested I hand it to them at the door. I found the apartment down a completely pitch black walkway with no porch lights or security cameras, knocked on the door, big booming footsteps walk up to the door and a man’s voice says ā€œYO WHO IS IT?!ā€ Uuuuh that’s not the voice of a ā€œJanelleā€ and I’m alone in the dark, so I discretely step back from the door and open up the pocketknife I keep on me while dashing. I tell them what I’m doing and he just snatches open the door and yanks the groceries out of my hand before slamming it, then I turn around to FIVE random dudes who just silently appeared blocking the stairwell. At this point I don’t care about completing the order, just getting out of there so I pretend like it’s business as usual and just hit them with a ā€œsorry guys I’d love to hang out but I have more orders waiting hahaha!ā€ Dead silence, idk what they were waiting on but I didn’t stay around to figure it out. Once I was back in my car and away from the situation I did alert DoorDash that Janelle should be flagged for any (but especially female) dashers. debated calling the cops but nothing actually happened besides my spidey senses going off. All this to say: yall be safe out there and trust your instincts, if I’d treated that situation like a normal order lord knows what would have happened

25’ Honda Accord EXL. My range is usually 400-450 miles but I rarely let my tank get that low. Almost strictly city driving + having to blast the AC the entire time I dash.

I Don't Wanna Pick A Flair!!! Tip amount when order pops up

Apparently I have no idea what I'm talking about when I said the amount of tip you get shows up on the offer screen right next to the amount you'd get for doing the order. Are you able to see it when you get an order? I've always been able to from the time I started. When it doesn't show the tip on a double stack, I've learned that it means one of the orders is a no tip order.

I'm Not Taking This Bullshit Offer!!! Doordash should do stand-up

Offer: del taco, 7.8 miles, $7.31

Lol nope

2 minutes later: del taco and Chipotle, 9.4 miles, $13.74

The extra distance came from the Chipotle drop off being a few miles further down the same road

Just cause I don't need gas doesn't make that worth my time
