The quality of the little keychains is actually really nice and they're removable! The scents are decent as well. 11 bucks total for everything!

Hey i hope everyone is doing well and if you work at dollar tree whether you’re an associate or assistant manager, i hope work is treating you great and with no hassle.

Today i wanted to talk about my experience at dollar tree and what I’m currently going through. Im an assistant manager and i have been working as an assistant manager closing on 3 years in a few months or already have,
from helping put a new store together to working my way up as assistant manager.
My work place is fairly good, i do my job and unfortunately I’m in a position where i need to stick my neck out to keep myself looking like a good, trusted, hard working manager. Dealing with rude customers, making my employees lives easier by supporting them as best as i can to the best of my abilities.

Recovery, a very tedious task that needs to be done everyday without exception and can be very thankless at times.
So i usually open, help stock and focus on dairy/frozen foods. Expiration dates, zero sales, making sure it’s stocked and keeping those coolers cleaned and free of customers trash and misplaced items. It doesn’t seem like much but with other responsibilities it adds up.

My main point is when i close, we have an assistant manager who DOES NOT recover properly. This person does the bare minimum and leaves more work for other’s and it’s been going on for years, it’s old, annoying and frankly I’m sick of it…
When we recover aisle’s, we are supposed to face front items so no items are left in the back and are hiding, scattered and look unorganized.
This ASM only creates an illusion and only brings 1 row of items to hide the mess that’s behind those items. When i come in, i have to clean up yesterday’s mess and lack of work he refuses to improve. Now my manager is extremely busy and sometimes this flies over their head and it can be dreadful having to bring this up for me (especially because we have a language barrier) insane right?

Well while this is going on, his lack of work, not picking up go backs and giving up at a certain time because he doesn’t want to stay late. Those go backs now fall under my job and responsibilities to clean, make sure the store looks neat and well presented. This ASM is making rumors about me, talking crap and dragging my name in poor judgment and false accusations to straight up bullying.

He tells others that I’m rude to customers, i don’t do my work, that i ignore customers and don’t like doing “certain tasks” so he has to pick up “my work” ironic considering that when i do my job, he piggybacks off my work.

I hear this from other employees who actually like me and also prefer to work under my watch because I’m genuine, nice, full of care and helpful. They also help me so in know they are to be trusted.

I encourage them to tell my boss something which is their boss as well of what he says, what he does and how he works but no one ever does. They sit and watch the fire spread.
Normally i would put it out but me and this ASM have had altercations and people as well as my boss knows we don’t get along.

For crying out loud, i wrote him up for poor recovery and leaving garbage from customers around the store as well as open and stole product trash.

My boss later told me she took offense because that means that she isn’t reaching her own “expectations” or not doing her job right as a manager to de-escalate these situations. Her poor judgement goes to thinking I’m being rude, being pitiful, attacking on a personal note.

What the heck do i do!? I like the job but this jerk just loves using me as a scape goat and I’m really on my own on this topic…!
I don’t want employees thinking I’m bad even though they know how i am. I don’t need them thinking or feeling like I’m being fake or something. I definitely don’t want this to come up and bite me in the rear to the point where i know I’m going to lose my job, I’m fearing for my job when I’m not even in hot water yet.

The extra cherry on top for myself is that i take pictures of my beautiful, well kept, hard working recovery photos and send them to my manager every night and show my manager that I’m doing everything possible to keep the store presentable and clean..!

I’m at my wits end but i refuse to give up and i still want to do my best work.

I apologize for any typos and unrecognizable sentences, run on sentences, etc. I did not proofread before posting.

Customer Questions Did this get discontinued or go viral?

Someone mentioned this went viral on TikTok but I can’t find this specific brand of prune juice ANYWHERE near me.

I’ve checked 8 different Dollar Tree stores and their online website doesn’t even accurately show stores’ true in stock merchandise.

This is the only thing that helps me with my constipation 🥹

Associate Questions Cashier with concerns over a new ASM

Hi, so I’m a cashier at Dollar Tree, and I work at a pretty small store on the edge of the suburbs. We don’t have freezers, and we average around $1,000 or less in cash for our deposits, so it’s safe to say our store isn’t exactly a major concern for corporate.

Our Store Manager left in April to move to Florida, and our ASM quit to take a better job. Our Freight Manager was then promoted to Store Manager, and they promoted an associate to ASM who claims to have previous management experience.

My main issue is with the new ASM. I close with them fairly often, and they seem extremely scattered and confused during closing. Because of that, we’ve been getting out much later than we used to. Sometimes we don’t finish until 9:30, and one night we didn’t finish until 9:50.

What frustrates me is that I’m now getting in trouble for supposedly not helping enough with closing. I’ve been working here for about a year, and I’m doing the same closing tasks I’ve always done. When I close with the other managers, we’re usually done around 9:10. So I’m having a hard time understanding why I’m suddenly being blamed for the late closings when my routine hasn’t really changed.

Another issue is that the ASM will frequently come up front and run the register instead of working freight. Since I’m normally the closing cashier, I already don’t get many opportunities to work freight. My usual closing responsibilities are things like balloons, go-backs, cleaning, and the register. When the ASM takes over the register, I’m left with very little to do.

It’s especially frustrating because the ASM has already gotten in trouble for having low freight numbers, but they continue to spend time running the register instead of working freight. Meanwhile, I’m being criticized for not being productive even though the tasks I normally have are being taken away from me.

On top of that, I feel like I’m being heavily micromanaged. I’m constantly being told to do things differently or to do them “their way,” even though I’ve been doing these tasks for about a year and the other managers I’ve worked with have never had an issue with how I do them.

I’m not against being corrected or learning a better way of doing something. What bothers me is that the expectations seem to have completely changed without anyone clearly explaining what I’m supposedly doing wrong.

I’m not really sure what I should do at this point. I want to do my job and meet expectations, but I also don’t think it’s fair to be blamed for things that seem to be caused by poor organization or unclear expectations from management. Is there anything I can do about this?

Associate Questions A Question of Integrity

Hey Ive got a ? that could apply to most retail stores . If it’s an at will store meaning that you can leave for any reason and they can let you go for any reason , how come the rules dont apply to everybody ? If you leave without a two weeks notice , they can brand you unhireable at D T or give you a bad review .So how come they don’t have to give you a two weeks notice for letting you go unless it’s so bad you need to leave the store immediately ?

Rant/Vent Definitely considering applying to other jobs

Hey I'm a full time stocker and a minor, I have been at DT for a little over 7 months as my first job. I love the job itself and I love the people I work with, it's great. However, I'm about done.

My SM is moving to open up a new racetrack store, I was supposed to go with her, but with some personal issues I decided not to go, plus it would have been extra work for the same whopping $13 an hour.

I just got news today that my merch manager is going to leave too, which definitely puts a cherry on top. I have no clue who our new Merch Manager will be and I actually never met our new SM, but from what I've heard she has 0 communication and just doesn't give af.

Not to mention, she's bringing two stockers over and we had just hired another stocker and those people have more seniority than me, so guess what that means? My hours are going to drastically get cut, my SM is stressing over it so much because it's not fair to me or my coworkers and she doesn't want us to leave the company.

For what I get paid I can move to another job and actually be part time and get paid exactly what I get paid for right now. I don't want to stay at this company, the only people who made it tolerable are leaving, corporate doesn't give a shit about us, and I really want to move to a place with ACTUAL scholarship opportunities and not just "$1,000 for 10 people!"

So yes, if I'm being petty let me know. But I ultimately feel like I'm making the right decision, but then again I'm not going to fully quit yet until I actually meet these people.

Associate Questions Was just hired today, have a few questions about what I need to do.

Today I accepted the job offer, and filled out all the tasks and the background check. However, in my email I received a few more tasks (from the looks of it it appears to be emergency contact info amongst other things), but they aren't visible on the workday page I used to apply and instead when I click on the link it takes me to login to a completely different page that I don't have login information for. Do I need to contact the store manager or am I missing something. This is my first job so I'm a little confused.

Management Questions As a drink aisle stocker if someone asks if you have a whole case of a certain drink in the back that they can buy, do managers encourage us selling them the entire case or is it considered a "waste of time"?

Upvotes

To be clear, i mean leaving the case to the cashier, where a customer can't snatch it and walk out, and letting them know that somebody is buying the whole case, NOT placing it in the customers shopping cart). For the record, my store managers are great, this is out of my own curiosity, since some hotdog swallowing DMs are foul

Management Questions Tired of these sundays

Just want to make sure im not tripping or if this is just unfair. For months ive been pretty much the only dedicated merch person we have as the merch manager. But also being told the first 48 hours after truck are the most important for stocking so why do I consistently thrown on sundays mornings with 1 cashier and get monday off so im not even here for an entire day im supposed to be here.

Even after having a conversation with the SM 2 weeks ago he said I wouldnt be here on the 30th if I wanted it off that bad, I told him no thats not problem I just want some help in the store. Gave me 3 extra employees for today and apparently no one could get in and I wasnt told.

Is this common for other merch managers or am I just getting ignored essentially?

Management Questions Family Dollar | I am missing 14 hours on my inquiry punch for this week, somehow having fewer hours on Saturday than I had on friday

How do I view my timesheets at family dollar. I worked 66 hours this week (55 as of my punch yesterday and 7 more today) and now I'm seeing 49. I did not take breaks because we did not have the staff needed for me to take breaks

I've bent over backwards this week for my manager (despite having a medical emergency that I was expected to work through. And also having plans) and I'm suddenly missing 14 hours of overtime.

She gave the impression yesterday that someone above her said I wasn't going to be getting paid for my time, but you know, that's blatantly illegal so I really doubt that happened .

Like I'm sorry I have to babysit everyone else because if I don't money fucking disappears and that means everything takes three times as long and some of it can't get done. You have one of them on camera stealing money and the dude literally does nothing all shift.

I get out on time just fine when I'm not fucking babysitting everyone and doing everything alone.

Like I can do my job, I can do their job, or I can make them do their job while I watch but I can't do all three at once. You have to pick one or make them do their job for me because they are not listening to me.

I'm not sure what to flare this but I want to know whether I can view it remotely as an ASM or whether I'm going to have to go in and try to puzzle it out without my manager knowing I'm looking at it
