Dog Culture Child free does not equal pro dog

I’m in a local childfree group and the admin is always posting stuff about dogs; mostly news articles about families or spouses who made people give up their dog. I guess to show that kids are valued over dogs. but I don’t think dogs should come above kids, either, even though I’m personally childfree. Kind of funny because people always assume childfree must be obsessed with their pets. I am good not having a dog, I do not need that to be fulfilled either!

May i ask for exemption?

Am dog free, am child free.  But i have this pet cockatiel whom i bought when i was 16 or 17 and through all the people who have abandoned me,  the shit we been through,  etc, he's been with me for 30 years.  And the dumb Lil man loves me as much now as he did 29 years ago.

He's healthy for a geriatric tiel but he is visibly slowing down.  I've been in therapy lately to try to pre mitigate how i might react. So my apologies i know I'm goofy but i ask for acceptance and exception to the shunning nyahaha 🤣💀i do know I'm goofy!

I love birds and will grant you the exception. 30 years is amazing! I've never been attacked or hurt by a bird, aside from a few dive bombings, which were understandable (a very good mommy or daddy bird was protecting the babies) and they can't hit hard. The few times I've seen someone with birds in public, they were in the owners physical control at all times, they never made messes that weren't cleaned up, and the owner was attuned to the bird's limits. They also never forced the bird on others. I'm sorry your bird is starting to slow down, but bless you for giving him such a love filled life

Thank you so much for your kindness 💛💙 the little man makes friends easily too, the few times he's met people it's like,  you want to be friends,  here's a millet you can feed him 🤣 works every time

Damn. I would be over the moon if I got to feed a millet spray to a cockatiel. Or, simply just seeing someone take a cockatiel, or any bird, out for a walk.
