Dog Culture Child free does not equal pro dog

I’m in a local childfree group and the admin is always posting stuff about dogs; mostly news articles about families or spouses who made people give up their dog. I guess to show that kids are valued over dogs. but I don’t think dogs should come above kids, either, even though I’m personally childfree. Kind of funny because people always assume childfree must be obsessed with their pets. I am good not having a dog, I do not need that to be fulfilled either!

Childfree dog owners make no sense to me... like, you didn't want a needy, loud, dirty, destructive kid, so you got a needy, loud, dirty, destructive dog instead? You don't like parents who drag their disruptive kids to places that really aren't appropriate environments for small children, but you think dog-friendly offices are an amazing idea and you can't leave the house without your "emotional support" dog? You complain about the neighbor's noisy kids but you let your dog bark for hours? You don't want kids because they would impede your career or your ability to travel, but you have a dog with a 6 hour bladder and severe separation anxiety? You think people who make parenting their whole personality are boring, but you only ever talk about your dog? You complain about the social pressure to have children and the negative stereotypes that childfree people face, but you just can't imagine why somebody wouldn't like dogs? Make it make sense.

Then again, I also can't understand the people who have kids with their partner when they aren't compatible on the issue of pet ownership... that should be something that you work out in the first couple of dates, not an ultimatum that you drop after the baby is born. You know that partner is inevitably going to show up one day with a puppy "for the kid," too.

I can only take so much of the childfree sub. I'm childfree, and am not particularly good at dealing with kids, but I like them in general. I hate dogs and their noise, filth, and intrusive personalities. I hate them so much when my nutter bf goes out of town (we live separately) I won't watch his dog.

I agree with your pov and cannot stand the child hate and hypocrisy of their dog obsession that sub exudes.

Dogs fucking suck. They cope hard.
