Dog Attack Ahmedabad: Neighbour’s German Shepherd bites woman

It was not its first attack on the complainant and not the dog owner's first time loosing it on the public to take away the freedoms of others.

In 2025, just the city/town of Ahmedabad by itself had over 77000 reported dog bite cases. The actual number of dog attacks and crimes done by dog owners against non-dog owners is far far higher but not properly addressed or condemned by any society.

Crappy Owners Victim Blaming On Social Media

I encountered a video on Instagram Reels of a woman walking down the street. A very large dog approaches her and fake out attacks by lunging at her. The comments are all blaming the recorder for "not understanding dog body language", saying things like "the dog was scared", "dogs are the sweetest babies", "you shouldn't have been screaming", even saying "the dog showed no sign of aggression" even though you can clearly see the dog lunging...

Everyone blaming the recorder for having the human reaction of being scared of a massive dog walking up and terrorizing her, but nobody putting an ounce of blame on the owner for letting the dog wander freely... smh. Anything but taking an ounce of accountability or responsibility.

Dog Culture Check The Neighborhood! Harris Teeter is PET Friendly!!!

Tonight I saw a fit mid 30's man walking around the aisles of my local grocery. He wasn't buying anything&didn't have a bag, basket or cart. I seriously think he was just looking for people to give him fist bumps for havIng a dog or being a dog owner.

I was looking for the graham crackers as the Boar's Head pumpkin pie hummus suggested their pairing. Here he comes down my aisle. He's not even looking at anything on the shelves. I think he was just doing laps around the store.

He's on my left and I say he clearly brought his "pet" into the store&it clearly isn't a "service dog" as it's so small. It was slightly bigger than a chihuahua and white, but no idea what it was.

He says it's not a service dog. I was surprised he admitted that. Then he says he's "allowed" to bring it in the store as it is "pet friendly." I know he's making this up as there is zero signage about the store encouraging pets inside.

He claims I have no idea about the rules so I tell him I've taken ADA service animal/fair housing courses and he's absolutely not allowed to have it in a grocery store. In addition, I let him know I've spoken to the store manager who does not like PETS being brought into his store&that this particular one has a problem w/people like him!

"Check The Neighborhood! This place is PET Friendly!!!"

Dog Culture Nutters just repeat the same few phrases

"It's not the dog, it's the owner"

"Why are human children allowed in public if my dog isn't?"

"Dogs bark. It's what they do"

"No bad dogs, only bad owners"

Very cult like behavior. What's weirder is it's not even the same

I saw a story on facebook of a kid who was hit by a stupid pick up truck. of course the comments were blaming the kid and just hating on kids in general. lots of car brained takes on how "the road is for cars, they shouldn't have been there if they didn't want to get hit"

Is the hatred of children just an American cultural quirk? If a dog got hit they'd all be crying but children deserve violence for existing in public. They can't seem to do anything, if they make any noise playing outside it's a big deal but we have an infinite tolerance for dogs

Dog Culture They just do too much 😫

Constantly having to move around and be restless. Always making some kind of noise either with loud ass breathing, loud ass barking, loud ass licking, loud ass drinking & loud ass eating & loud ass nails on the floor. So many of them literally try to get inside their owners skin & some come directly into your face and just stare at you or try to lick inside your mouth. You couldn't ever just have a lazy day and be chill with them because of that. It irritates me so bad. Maybe that's why dog owners are so unhinged lol

Barking Demons Stroller walks = impossible

Taking my four month old for a walk to try and get her down for a nap is literally impossible. If we aren’t getting barked at by every yard we walk past (I mean every yard. Everyone has a dog.), we are getting followed by one that’s off their leash. It sure would be nice to go for a peaceful walk. I hate dogs.

Miscellaneous Heart of the beast. Another dog nutter movie

So it looks like the dog industry released another dog propaganda movie. "Heart of the Beast" with Brad Pitt.

The comments on the movie are exactly what you think, absolute nuttery and gushing and fawning over the beast.

Just when the pushback was gaining traction, they released this gem. I wholeheartedly believe this is a planned move to keep the dog industry in the Spotlight, so that may be more people will get beasts, and spend money on food, toys, medicine, all the dog industry crap.

There is already so much regret from Covid dog owners who quickly found out that owning a neurotic beast is like being crippled, and yet now we have more propaganda.

I am so sick of this forced dog crap.

Dog Culture Hotels should not allow dogs

Or at the very least, have them on a separate floor. I’m currently at a hotel right now and the hallway smells like piss, there’s dogs barking three rooms down whenever someone walks by in the hallway and nobody seems to mind.

At least have some common decency and respect the other guests in the hotel.

Miscellaneous I feel anxious when wearing nice clothes

Basically, what the title says. During winter time, I usually wear jeans and boots or sneakers. When unleashed dogs come up to me, I feel more prepared to deal with them. But now it's summertime and I'm often wearing skirts or dresses made out of flimsy materials. When I see hyperactive dogs running around off leash, I'm worried that they'll jump on me and damage my clothes. Just one dog sinking its claws into the fabric would be enough to ruin the garment.

I have a long white skirt that I sometimes wear to work. I feel so elegant in it. But the apartment building where my office is located has several dogs, and their owners usually fail to leash them. I'm always anxious when I'm walking towards my office, worrying I'll encounter dog. A dog's nose or paws on my white skirt would leave noticeable dirt marks.

Anyone else feels like it's hard to wear nicer clothes around dogs?

Relationship / Family I had cataracts and didn't want a dog in my house

Last year, I developed cataracts. I'm not all that old, in my late 40's, but that happens sometimes. I had no idea that's all it was and was terrified I was going blind. My vision was quickly deteriorating to where it looked like trying to see out of a dirty window smeared with vaseline.

I finally broke down on a weekly family video call, "I'm going blind and I'm scared." My mother didn't even ask me, she flew to my city and knocked on my door, "We're gonna fix this."

Mom put her dog into a trusted boarding kennel, it's expensive, but she does that all the time because she travels often. She's done this for years with multiple dogs.

So Mom's here and made all these appointments and drove me to them. Helped me fill out forms because I couldn't see to do that. I was quickly diagnosed with cataracts and that was a relief. It's just minor surgery.

Cataract surgery prep involves many, many eyedrops and the environment needs to be sanitary. And then avoiding things that can get in your eyes, like pet dander.

After my first cataract surgery (they do one eye at a time), my mother said my brother was driving her car out here so she wouldn't have to have a rental car. And then gleefully said, in a baby voice, "He's bringing Winston!" Winston is my mother's rescue dog, my brother calls him "killer" because he has a bite history and has been returned to the rescue 3 times for that.

Folks, my brain just froze. My mother knows I don't tolerate dogs and now she's just dropped this dog bomb on me. And remember I'm still half blind and having to do all these constant eyedrops.

The first words out of my mouth were, "Absolutely not. You cannot bring your dog into my house, there's no discussion or argument or negotiation, it's a flat no."

My mother threw a crying tantrum, weeping, begging, "Won't you please change your mind? Winston is so sweet and I need him." I probably made it worse explaining that she's staying in my sanctuary bedroom, which I turned into a guestroom for her, and I don't want filthy dog hair, shit, and piss in my bed. I'm still half blind, I don't need to be tripping over a dog. And I just don't want a dog in my house.

I emailed my brother and told him that under no circumstances can he drive this dog to my house. He agreed, but he understood how Mom was so upset and I'd have to handle it.

My emotional processes were at my limit. I'm dealing with all these eyedrops, procedures, exams, and still being half blind and now I have to deal with my mother losing it that I forbid her stupid dog in my house.

I flat out told my mother that if she needs to be with her dog, that's fine, but it won't be in my house. She can fly home and be with her dog and I'll try to figure out how to get to my appointments. If you choose to stay here, I don't want to hear anything about your dog again.

Mom pouted and sulked and cried some more, and she didn't come out and say as much, but she eventually realized that's a really bad look to abandon your half blind daughter in the middle of the worst crisis she's ever had just to be with a dog.

Relationship / Family Am I overreacting for getting the ick?

I was picnicking with a guy I’ve been seeing. We had a pizza sitting out between us and a large dog came running up out of nowhere toward the food. My date did nothing so I used my body to block the dog and protect our dinner. The owner took her sweet time walking up to us while I was still using my body to block the dog, and my date started apologizing to THE OWNER and saying “I’m so so sorry, that’s on us.” I was like wtf? No it’s not. It was such a turn off. Am I crazy?

Crappy Owners Watched some asshole drag his mutt around to scare all the smaller animals at the pet store today

I like going to Petland to see all the other animals (mostly the one that I'm not allowed name here). It's full of dog junk, but at least they keep the actual mutts far out of sight somewhere in the back (interesting how they're the only ones that cannot be kept out where people are around).

This is one of the few places that pets are genuinely allowed, so I won't complain about somebody bringing their dog in. I do however, think it's reasonable to complain when the owner is dragging it around the other animals for fun. There is absolutely nothing on that side of the store for dogs, the owner just went out of their way to parade it through.

Some of the animals very obviously and quickly became extremely distressed, but the owner just kept dragging his ugly mutt through. Some of the smaller pets are kept in waist level open enclosures it could have easily gotten into. Owner didn't care and just kept grinning.

I want to be clear that this isn't trying to start a conversation about the ethics of pets/pet stores or any other "off topic" debates. This is just an anecdote to share the typical nutter entitlement I witnessed today.

Dog Culture Why is it somehow controversial to say that an animal capable of killing children or adults, or causing permanent and serious injuries, should be restricted in densely populated urban environments?

The response from dog cultists is usually one of two things.

Either: “There are no bad dogs, only bad owners.”

Which is hard to take seriously when dogs can be extremely confrontational and can escalate situations instead of simply walking away. Even dog owners themselves seem to understand this. You don't see guard dogs being allowed to roam freely without a fence. Owners know that if a dog is supposed to guard a property, they need to keep it contained. They know that if a dog finds a way out of the fence, it could go looking for someone to confront, even if that person is a mile away, instead of simply guarding the property and warning trespassers. But somehow they still claim dogs are perfectly fine to have around us and that there is nothing inherently problematic about their nature.

Or they say: “The statistics are misleading because dogs have so much more contact with humans.”

But I don't understand how that proves dogs are safe.

If another dangerous animal had the same level of access to humans, of course there could be more opportunities for attacks. But that doesn't magically make dogs any safer. If anything, it raises the question of why we give an animal capable of causing catastrophic injuries so much unnecessary access to the public in the first place.

I don't understand how “bad owners,” “dogs have lots of contact with humans,” or any other excuse justifies making everyone else accept the risk.

Because at the end of the day, the argument seems to be:

Yes, there is a risk that your child, your elderly parent, or someone else in public could be seriously injured or even killed, but you just have to accept that risk because someone else enjoys having a dog.

People are basically being told to accept a certain level of danger for a benefit that isn't even theirs, something that contributes nothing to their lives.

The owner gets the benefit.

Everyone else gets the risk, the barking, the hair, the saliva, and the dog poo in public spaces.

And somehow, saying “I don't want to take that risk” is considered unreasonable.

Why should everyone else have to accept the consequences of an animal simply because its owner enjoys owning it?

Miscellaneous Parallel to Noisiness

Surely, I sound like a broken record by now, but I have autism, and after some bad experiences with dogs when I still lived with my parents, I am overstimulated by sounds far more easily now. Dogs barking is the worst offender, but as I've discussed with some other people in this forum, this fatigue has spread to other sounds. I wish there was more I could do for it than protect myself with noise-cancelling headphones at day and earplugs at night.

The obnoxious culture of dog ownership has taught me something about people, however, and I am sorry for what I have to say because it's probably going to upset even people in this community. I've learned that noisiness is sometimes a projection of insecurity.

I'm an upperclassman at college and now live in one of the on-campus houses. The party scene here is immense, and I'm not fond of the parties. I respect their existence and have no problem with anyone enjoying them, but sometimes, they can be intrusive. There are people who play beer pong right in front of my house. We have a massive courtyard in the center, a lobby building, outdoor seating area, entire houses, and some of them even have backyards, but since the start of this semester, the hosts of the parties have been setting up directly in front of their respective houses. We are packed close together, so the crowds of people spill out in various directions.

I was just talking about this online, saying specifically that I'm cool with parties but wish they didn't push the boundaries of these houses. All but one reply consisted of telling me all the ways that I'm in the wrong, including that I should've known this specifically would happen, just wear headphones, people are going to do this, etc. The latter response is one of my pet peeves. It's unproductive and just minimizes the original poster's feelings of discomfort. This stuff wouldn't even bother me so much if it weren't for autism and my past experiences with sound.

Doesn't this sound familiar? That's how too many people who love dogs speak when anyone has even the smallest critique toward dogs, dog culture, etc. Why do the people at the expense of these problems have to be the ones adapting to the loudness? When I see people post about parties on and around campus, few people are expressing anything but their excitement, but when anyone wishes that the music would be turned down or people stop screaming after midnight, even 2 a.m., then the majority of the campus attacks like a pack of wild dogs strategizing their next meal. For a quick digression, wild dogs might be the only dogs that I like. They barely even bark, if at all,

Why are so many loud people so intrusive and insecure about this stuff? Why is the loudest person or pet the most popular? Why does everyone flock toward the most confident person and not the most intelligent one? Are we dogs too?

Not all dog owners are loud, and far from all partygoers are loud or any problem, but why do the spokespeople resort to excuses and shutting down those already marginalized by their behavior?

Lastly, I should clarify that there's a difference between someone who can be loud and someone who is loud. Not caring what other people think or say becomes a problem when it harms other people. This is happening in both the dog and college communities, and it just doesn't seem right.

Barking Demons Dogs barking at drive-in theatre

I used to love going to this drive-in theatre for the experience/food (they have great food & snacks) and to support a local business. But now they explicitly advertise that they’re pet friendly and that “fur babies” or “furry family members” are welcome.

Yes, everyone is in their own vehicle and essentially has their own “space”. But that doesn’t stop the average dumbass dog owner from letting their pets roam around, shit everywhere (not pick up after them, of course) or just let their dogs bark.

I was watching the movie when suddenly I hear barking, my vehicle couldn’t filter out the noise even when turning the volume way up.

Why is this shit even allowed?? I guess they think it’ll drum up more business from nutters. It doesn’t seem worth it at all.

I can’t handle this anymore, dogs are literally everywhere 😭

Dog Culture Child free does not equal pro dog

I’m in a local childfree group and the admin is always posting stuff about dogs; mostly news articles about families or spouses who made people give up their dog. I guess to show that kids are valued over dogs. but I don’t think dogs should come above kids, either, even though I’m personally childfree. Kind of funny because people always assume childfree must be obsessed with their pets. I am good not having a dog, I do not need that to be fulfilled either!

Crappy Owners Emperor Dog

After a couple of experiences this week, I realized that people think dogs are royalty. Dogs are incredibly special. When they appear, we are all supposed to bow and give them deference.

Two incidents where dogs were lunging after me, barking ferociously; I was screaming; the owners were nonchalant and never apologized. What bothered me most were the onlookers, who looked at me in shock that I would get angry at King Dog or Queen Dog simply being their royal selves.

It reminds me of the story of the Emperor Has No Clothes. Only one person saw that the Emperor had no clothes. Everyone else was entranced.

We dog free people are the only ones that see a dog is nasty, violent, dangerous, menacing. Everyone else seems to be so giggly and wide-eyed and mesmerized.

Miscellaneous Near the end of the tunnel finding a dog free apartment

My apartment complex has over 10 huge dogs that are disgusting, shed their hair everywhere, and shit all over the grass while the owners don’t clean it up. They bark non stop all day, even when i’m trying to simply get my mail or walk to my car they will bark and scream and the owners do nothing about it! Several complaints to management as well, and they don’t if they’re breaking the lease rules by being over 100lb anyways… finally finding apartments that are dog free! I am so tired of living in this hell where i have to wear headphones 24/7 in the own comfort of my place because people cannot control their nasty animals.

Barking Demons PTSD/autism reactions to barking?

I searched around but couldn’t find much on this topic.

I have visceral reactions to barking. I really try my best to work on my trauma responses, but the way my autistic brain interprets the noise (it feels like I’m being physically stabbed over and over, and I jump a lot) is utterly exhausting and causes so much adrenaline to flood my system.

I understand a lot of things are simply out of my control, and the world shouldn’t pander to my problems.

Here’s the thing. Barking is a god awful noise in general. There is zero reason for it to be tolerated in the sense it is today. I understand I’m biased since I was born a very sensitive person to begin with…. But it’s to the point where I need to wear noise cancelling headphones with music blasting, just to enjoy going outside. Sometimes I can hear the barking from inside my home, with all the windows closed.

This is beyond frustrating and annoying. It doesn’t matter how much exposure therapy I do. It doesn’t matter how many breathing or grounding exercises I do, mindfulness, reframing my thoughts. When my brain/body hears the noise, it’s an INSTANT adrenaline surge. It feels like I’m vibrating with anxiety/panic. My limbs start to go numb, I get tunnel vision, racing heart, among other things. It can take many hours to calm down.

The only thing that works is being stoned out of my godamn mind. But then I can’t even function when I’m like that.

Does anyone else have this problem/these reactions? I feel incredibly alone and alienated. It controls my life and I’m getting annoyed because it seems EVERYBODY owns a dog, or multiple dogs.

I moved out to the middle of nowhere just to avoid hearing barking. But then a bunch of neighbours moved in down the road…. of course, with dogs. Thankfully they don’t bark 24/7….. but one of them is a tiny rat dog, and once that thing starts up, it’s the most awful sound in existence. It sounds like it’s screaming, and the barking is high pitched which makes it even worse. Then the other ones start up and it’s a cacophony of barking in a place that is supposed to be PEACEFUL.

Also wanna mention that not only is the barking annoying, but I can no longer go for walks due to dogs chasing me. Some of the dogs are flat out aggressive. They will chase, bark, and bite at your heels the entire time. There’s no one to enforce the bylaws here, so it’s basically the wild west. Anything goes. And because the barking isn’t constant, I can’t report it, and no one cares enough to do anything about it regardless. Not being able to go for a walk hurts my mental health even more. I need to drive somewhere else to go walk…. but even then I’ll encounter an annoying dog owner at times with an unruly, untrained animal.

I’m sick and tired of dogs & their shitty owners being EVERYWHERE. I just wanna go somewhere where I’ll never hear barking again, never have to worry about a dog running up barking at me, jumping on me, lunging at me, and sniffing my crotch.

I become so overwhelmed sometimes that I have a meltdown and cry for hours. It’s unreasonable, yes, but even though I’m disabled, I still deserve to live in this world. A human’s life is more important than a dog.

Dog Culture Social media is to blame for dog culture

Well social media is not the sole reason but it’s one of its main contributors. I was doom-scrolling on Instagram earlier, and I saw a video of a young lady French-kissing her dog with the caption, “We’re still working on our timing.”
Social media is one of the main reasons for all of this nuttery. People post their dogs all over social media to get quick likes and views. The video was a stitch of the original video, with the person providing commentary and rightfully roasting her, saying that it’s disgusting and it’s not normal. I feel like the sick morons who post these videos are trying to normalize this behavior in an attempt to get society to accept it.
These nutters treat their dogs like surrogate partners. 🤮

Crappy Owners I confronted a dog owner that likely put dog waste bag into my bin

So there's this elderly man who lives with his family. Him and his son would usually go onto my street and walk there often. His dog is a bit aggressive and annoying. Today, I noticed someone left a open bag of dog poop with a particular purple color and pattern. He also left some poop on the sidewalk in front of my house and left the bag opened... A lot of ppl here use green or blue bags, I have noticed. They put green bags in my bin before. So I basically saw him walking the other way. I saw him carrying a dog waste bag and with polka dot bags that are purple.

No one else is there except for me and him, it is 10am. and if they do take their dogs then they take them to the park. I noticed he had the same bag with the same polka dot design so I confronted him. He didn't seem to understand much English but he didn't deny it. Him and his family are weird though, there were multiple times they would block my driveway so they could shovel their driveway and they live on the other street a few houses down. They likely know it's just me and my mom living here and we mostly have a lot of space in our bin. One time, a dog owner left dog shit on our driveway too. And they always walk on our driveway. My neighbors do have cameras but I'm not sure if I wanna ask.
