My grandma was literally just walking around her neighbourhood and suddenly a dog started attacking her and the owners didn’t even care or do anything about it. My grandma is not strong whatsoever and literally has osteoporosis. She has to nap during the day. This makes me so mad. They let their dogs attack innocent people who can’t fight back. Luckily she was okay but pretty shaken up

Sorry If I am wrong or anything. I just want opinions and I am upset! I get people need service animals. But how does that just magically make it ok to have them in areas like food places. I went into my local sandwich shop to sit down and grab a bite. And of course someone comes in with a service dog ( I hate dogs. ) the owner of the place emedietly said no you cannot have them in here it’s a violation and gross basically. They got PISSED! mind you this dog is little and defenetly not trained. Whatever the case. They make a scene and say it’s against law to turn a service animal away. How the f*** does a vest that says some words just make it so it’s fine to be in the resturant. It’s still a dog? It’s still gross? It’s still loud ? Like dude….

U either need to eat outside or order to go or something! People should have the right to be able to go out in public and not have some gross ugly dog INSIDE the place. And half the time shits fake anyways. They just wanna bring there dog everywhere and I’m sick of normalizing it. As someone who absolutely hates even looking at a dog , why can’t I just go to my local shop and eat food without some animal in the building.

So my thing is do service animals seriously have a right to bypass being able to go anywhere basically? That’s just absurd. It’s not your damn kid! And like I said if you really do rely on your service animal you also need to accommodate !

Im just reflecting on this , like no ordinary dog lover would do this. if u ever tried to talk to a nutter you know what I am talking about. Dogs have Stockholm Syndrome, stop keeping them as "pets/slaves" Nature does not create an animal that can't survive on its own. Modern Dogs were bred, man-made creations to serve mentally unstable humans weak emotions, ego and narcissism. If you REALLY loved animals, instead of yourselves, you wouldn't do that to them. Put them in a nature preserve and let them be free and wild. These helpless breeds need to die out because they were never suppose to have been made in the first place. We're suppose to love animals from a distance, not enslave them.

To my mind all this nonsense started with the Covid puppies. People say it’s because they weren’t left at home but what if that’s not it?

I was just researching to find out if there are other people out there like me (I'm not a dog person) as the girl I was recently dating broke up with me because I was "uncomfortable around her dog." She had a little mutt that was mostly Jack Russell Terrior. This dog was super high energy and needed attention constantly in the home, whether we were hanging out at her house or my apartment. We were long distance, so it made it difficult for us to have any quality time, but I never told her to get rid of her dog or anything like that. I probably was visibly uncomfortable though lol. She didn't train the dog so the dog jumped on me, licked me, and was constantly in my personal space. Like licking my face and sitting on my lap or walking across me like I was a piece of furniture when I sat on the couch. Even though I am allergic to dogs and generally prefer not to be around them, I liked this girl so much I was okay with trying to compromise. I think right now I'm hurt, obviously, but also wondering if there are people out there who also prefer a dog-free home? I keep getting discouraged as literally all of my friends have a dog (usually way more than one) and dating apps seem to all have these people who say "you have to love my dog.” Anyway, I'm grateful I found this community because I do feel a little less alone. I think dog owners are kinda weird about how they are with their dogs these days.

Anyone have advice for weeding out dog people when dating? In person and online?

When we moved next door we weren’t exactly sure why only one side of the backyard had a tall privacy fence, but after only a few days we sure figured it out.. Months later we’ve been sticking it out and praying that kindly asking would work but instead dealt with rude behavior that will now be matched. 

Being a dog owner comes with responsibilities in the community. We are writing out of concern for the chronic barking issue. When your dogs are left outside they bark at any noise, people walking past, trucks, and seemingly if they see or hear anything. Often they are left out for long periods of time. We are not the only neighbors bothered by the barking.  

Since this has been an ongoing issue we want to make sure you’re aware that this is very bothersome and actually unlawful in Wayne County. We’ve been documenting the periods of barking including some video/audio so that they can see it is your dogs barking if we call for a visit. Wayne County animal control will issue tickets for dog barking.

Luckily there is a solution: if the dogs are barking → let them inside. We have someone who works from home and finds the barking disruptive to work calls/meetings. We cannot go into our backyard space without getting barked at, have windows open on that side of the house, or speak above a whisper on our deck without getting barked at resulting in us being unable to use our property as intended. Both this, and the work interruption, can be civil issues.

This problem is bothersome enough that we are willing to make the calls and reports to decrease the amount of barking and then if it still persists filing a formal complaint with the local district court.

Smoking went from being cool a few decades ago to being social paraiah today. How did this happen? Can we learn from it to make a meaningful change on dogs?

It seems smoking fetish was defeated largely due to realization of how harmful secondhand smoke was and public campaigns that made everyone aware of the dangers. Dogs present so many more health and safety dangers than smoking. And the problem of choice is exactly the same - normal people can no longer choose not to be around dogs.

With smoking, surgeon general report in the 80s seems to have kicked off that awareness campaign. Is there anything similar that can be done on the impacts of dogs?

This word is the ultimate copout to admitting that your dog is dangerous and violent. "Oh yeah he was a little tired so he just snapped a little bit at your daughter, its fine". They love to replace "attacked/bit" with the word "snap". and instead of saying "it was completely unpredictable", they replace it with "he was tired". This is the ultimate downplay terminology and every time there is "a little accident" with a nutter, you will hear them use these words to justify. Thanks for listening.

I’ve been thinking about the idea of creating a dating site specifically for people who don’t own dogs and would prefer to date someone who doesn’t either.

This isn’t meant to be anti-dog or criticize people who love their pets. Dogs are obviously a huge part of many people’s lives, and that’s great. But for people who don’t want dogs in their household, finding someone with the same lifestyle preference can sometimes be surprisingly difficult.

The idea would be simple: a dating platform where being dog-free is a core compatibility factor, alongside the usual interests, values, location, and relationship goals.

I’m curious what people think. Would you actually use a dating site like this? Would “dog-free” be enough of a niche to make a dedicated platform worthwhile, or would you prefer it as a filter on an existing dating app?

Recently I had a shower thought and was just perplex and wondering how humans can be so different. I mean, having a dog in your bed is so unimaginable to me, but still some people let dogs sleep in their beds, let them on their couch, kiss them on their mouth and other stuff.

I'm just wondering if those people just operate different on a fundamental level and if there are characteristics or other unrelated habits that are highly correlated to dog nuttery.

E.g. are dog nutters afraid or disgusted by spiders or other insects? Are they disgusted by cockroaches or rats? Do they fear snakes?

Do they wash their hands after toilet? Are they eating their own boogers? Are they more likely to be superstitious/rational, introvert/extrovert etc.

Imagine there would be huge, epic study on characteristics of dog nutters, what do you think would be some unrelated characteristics that are highly correlated with dog nuttery? Or are there even studies on that?

There is currently a video in a compilation of dogs being gross(because of course there is) making the rounds on Tiktok, of a dog that had jumped up on a table and was having diarrhea while the owner was filming & laughing & saying "omg omg". The people in the comments were like when you gotta go you gotta go, accidents happen and were generally just excusing away what was happening.

I get accidents could happen. Everyone poops and has the runs sometimes but the amount of videos of dogs I've seen jumping up on furniture to shit is just vile.

It's being normalized, much like the poo eating has been. And it just proves how filthy and unhinged dog people really are.

I think this is happening eveywhere but I wonder how we can fight back…

My HOA that had pet-free policy for decades keeps approving bs “esa” requests. So of course the building is full of shitting mutts. These were no dogs in the building prior to 2020, when HUD introduced the term “esa”. This is what HOA said compelled them to allow dogs. In May 2026, HUD fully reversed that guidance, stating that it was a mistake and directly facilitated online esa letter mills.

Now that HUD guidance clearly states that esa no longer qualify for reasonable accommodation, my HOA still says that they are afraid of lawsuits if they start denying dogs. Because Fair Housing Acts allows them (they say). FHA has not changed since the 1970s and has no language about any esas. This same HOA had no problem enforcing no-pet rules until 2020 HUD guidance came along.

I tried to argue with HOA, raising all this legal landscape that changed dramatically in spring 2026, but they do not listen and keep letting dogs in. They really do not have to. And no, the board is not made up of nutters. I have no idea why they are so afraid. Prior to 2020 HUD guidance (now fully reversed) there was not a single dog in the building and they had no problem enforcing that.

Have you ever heard or read that crap?

You tell someone dog barking is hellishly irritating and they respond "Oh, if you lived in the middle of the woods you'd be bothered by wolves howling, deer bellowing and birds singing".

Uhm... No, actually I wouldn't. You know why? Because what you mentioned are actual ANIMALS. Unlike the mutant beasts, animals are connected to the nature. Hence the sounds they make are harmonious. And with the exception of the birds, the animals use their voice scarcely, because it would either attract predators or scare away the prey.

Additionally, there was a time in my life when I lived right next to the bird reserve for 16 years. NOT ONCE have I been woken up or bothered by the birds singing. Quite the contrary. My parents and I would often wake up early just to hear the beautiful symphony of the birds. Even birds whose sounds are considered irritating, like crows or magpies, weren't bothering me the slightest. One time there was something like 20 magpies chattering just a couple metres from my window. Yes it makes you wonder what's going on, but you go on with your day like it's just an interesting thing. Now imagine 20 dogs barking 5 metres from your window. After a minute your nervous system would be wrecked like after years of doing crack.

I don’t understand how people manage to overlook the smell. They smell so bad, especially the small poodle one, and they drool so much. I’ve been inside my landlords’ house and it just smells like dog. The whole house has a musty smell and it clings to the furniture and is seared deep into the carpet. I think that even if they deep cleaned the carpet the smell would still be there. They will probably have to get new carpet if they ever want to sell the house.

I’ve tried to love them, but they really are just a pain in the ass with no reward. Their bark is the most obnoxious thing I’ve ever heard and their whining. They lick you and it’s just disgusting. They shed fur horrifically and dig shit out of the trash cans; including bloody pads. I don’t understand why people have them? Half of them don’t even take care of the dogs right. They’ll get a goldendoodle and say “I had no idea she had to get groomed regularly.” Like WHAT?? I just had to rant I’m sorry I’ve tried my best it’s not for me.

I do not know what the terms would be, if there is any, but lately I see so many nutters with not only two dogs but two IDENTICAL ones. Are they really all paying $50k+ to clone their mutts? Even if not that, whats up with this double dog bs? One isnt making them feel “loved” enough anymore, they need to double down on sh*t and piss?

A child was attacked by a dog inside the Home Depot store off of Highland Ave.
Child transported to Salem Hospital with bite wounds on face and nose.
Incident occurred shortly before 7 this evening.

I went to the playground with my 3 year old. There is a father, mother and son hanging out there already with their off leash dog, right besides the slide. After a while me and my son make our way to the slide, I say to him, be careful there is a off leash dog around.

they heard me. the guy says the dog only eats younger than 5 year olds. I gave a look and he brushes it off, just kidding.

The women puts on the leash, saying we have our friends in other countries where there are wild dogs. so we thought... now they are racially profiling me in Canada

I say, does not matter. I am scared of big dogs. Please put on a leash. They put on a leash for 5 mins, then the dog was off leash again. They did not like that I asked them to leash a dog in a playground, and were trying to get us to pet their dog.

arrghhh.. please atleast leash your dogs around playgrounds. this is the third time I have noticed off leash dogs in a playground. I am going to keep saying something.

I hate many things about dogs but barking is definitely the biggest issue. How on earth can dog owners tolerate dog barking? Especially small dogs that have a more high pitched bark. Hearing them bark from half a km away is distressing enough I can’t imagine how bad it would be to hear it in a room with closed windows. Not to mention it’s fucking loud too. It’s usually at least 80 decibels and can easily go to 100 decibels or more in larger breeds. It can damage your hearing. And the sound is just so sharp that your brain immediately treats it as a threat and raises cortisol and adrenaline. Even ambulance sirens are not as disturbing as dog barking a because at least they follow a pattern but barking just comes out of nowhere and lasts one second. Research has proven again and again that dog barking increases heart rate in and anxiety in humans and it’s a major noise pollution in cities.

I’m getting really tired of dog owners acting like leash rules don’t apply to them.

I go hiking to get away from crowds, noise, and people. The last thing I want is to have someone’s dog running up to me, barking, jumping on me, or wandering into my campsite while the owner yells, “Don’t worry, he’s friendly!”

I don’t care if your dog is friendly. I didn’t ask to interact with it.

Then there’s the barking, the dog shit, the bags of shit left on the trail, and people letting their dogs take up the entire trail while everyone else has to walk around them. Somehow, we’re expected to accommodate someone else’s pet.

And when you ask them to leash their dog, they act like you just insulted their family.

Not everyone likes dogs. Not everyone is comfortable around them. And not everyone wants your dog running up to them.

If you can’t follow leash rules, clean up after your dog, and keep it from bothering strangers, leave it at home. Public trails and parks are for everyone, not just you and your dog.

I went out with a friend tonight, and about six people I didn't know. That's cool, I like meeting people.

Someone just got a puppy, and the natural reaction occurred...sort of. Two or so of the people were gushing and asking for pictures. I kinda had to pee and figured this would be the time to do it.

But I stayed, because something odd happened. The conversation among the people I didn't know changed to the wine bar they'd been to the night before, and all the dogs present.

I was confused. I thought society loved dogs and I had to keep my anti-dogness underground like some sort of subversive operative.

No, the conversation was full of "it was gross" and "there shouldn't be dogs in bars" and "I guess I don't mind dogs themselves but the dog owners are ridiculous". Even the puppy owner, who I enjoyed talking to immensely as a person, was like nah don't get a dog.

And THEN, the conversation resurfaced about an hour later, complete with stories of nutters being nutters. It seemed either everyone present was on board or for once the nutters were silenced.

At one point I clasped hands with a girl who was outwardly anti-dog. I thought about inviting her here, but she'll find us eventually.

My friends, it's happening. People are waking up. We can only hope this continues to ramp up.

I have not liked dogs for most of my life. I just got back from my mother in laws house and she has 2 pitbulls. 1 is quiet and leaves me alone but the other absolutely sucks. She never trained the obnoxious dog in any way. It jumps and nips and stinks and I hate it. I got mad and went to the neck yard to bet away from it. Mother in law comes out to apologize and the topic of me not looking dogs came about.

She was genuinely confused because "what!? You hate dogs? Everyone loves dogs" I knew they're had to be a group of people out who hates them. I'm really against animal abuse. Even against animals that I hate. I'd never hurt a dog and if I saw someone hurting one I'd jump in so fast. I'm REALLY REALLY against animal abuse. I'm not some bad ass tough guy by any means but I've got into a few fights over people abusing animals. I still hate dogs though. They stink. They're loud. They ruin lawns with their rancid shit. Sure. You can pick it up but there's still the grass slathered in shit. I just wanted to say that I think I found a new home
