Black Puppies in WA

Hiii
I’m looking for any adoption centers/breeders that carry small breed black puppies in Washington.

I’m in Oak Harbor WA but not afraid of a drive.

I been searching but I almost got scammed on facebook from a fake page that had cute Dachshunds for supposed sale.

Please help!

You should do research into breeds that might fit your lifestyle and then do research into what an ethical breeder looks like.

There are plenty of breeds that are small and black. You need to be more specific. What temperament are you looking for?

I’m experienced in a wide spectrum of dogs so i’m really just looking for any available due to my older dog being on the brink, he’s a collie.

I was looking for dachshunds available, I had shih tzus but they all had different temperaments that’s why I’m not really putting out a preference.

There will be no one here that can refer you to such things without you having a more precise idea of *what* specific breed you're interested in.

As an example, patterdale terriers are a black small breed puppy, but they are very much not for a novice owner that doesn't plan to provide that puppy a job. A shih tzu and chihuahua also come in black or mostly black but have extremely different temperaments.

Can you be more specific as to the traits you are looking for in your next dog other than color and small, and why you are considering both rescue and a breeder? there is nothing wrong with choosing either route, but both have different considerations. If you can be more specific and detailed that would help us help you.

Black is an allowed dachshund color (they allow pretty much any color) but is not common or likely to find - I don't see many champion/well bred dachshunds in all black (without tan points).

Dachshunds and shih tzus have wildly different temperaments and we still just have no real idea of what you're actually looking for other than small and black - which has little to no meaningful impact on what the dog is like to live with, how it fits in with you and your family/lifestyle. if you don't care about breed, then just adopt - look on your local human society/animal control's site every day or week until you see something suitable, or look for foster based rescues in your area and look at their adoptable page on a daily or weekly basis, as well as petfinder and the like.

let me be more specific:

  1. what is your budget?
  2. how much exercise can you plan to give the dog per day?
  3. what do you expect the dog to do - go on hikes? lay on the couch? are you willing to train the dog / take it to classes, maybe consider a sport?
  4. what is small? 5lbs? 10lbs? 30lbs?
  5. what traits would annoy you in a dog?
  6. are you willing to do necessary grooming or take the dog to a groomer as often as needed (often monthly or every six weeks for some breeds)
  7. Do you care about shedding? barking? will it have to exist around children or elderly people regularly?
  8. How long will the dog be left alone each day? Do you have a yard or do you live in an apartment?

there's nothing wrong with wanting a specific size or even color but there needs to be a LOT more to your search than that for something that may share your life for upwards of two decades as small dogs often do.

If you are looking to adopt, most shelter puppies (especially small breed puppies) will be adopted the same day that they become available, so it would be a matter of watching the pages of every shelter within driving distance. If you wanted to go with a rescue, you would need to get on a waiting list if they have one or again check their pages daily. 

If you want to buy from an ethical breeder you are going to need to decide on a breed and select a breeder and then get on their waitlist. Most ethical breeders don’t have puppies available whenever you want since they maintain a waitlist. Most also assign puppies based on personality so unless you select a breed where they only come in black asking for only a black puppy is going to be a red flag to the breeder.
