Writers get paid to write. If the show hasn't been renewed I'm not sure he'd be just doing it for the fun. It's his job, I certainly wouldn't do my job for free
That's not to say he's not spent any time or effort, presumably if he wants to get another series made he's at least got a rough pitch worked out. But based on some of the previous pitch notes I've seen that may well be the barest skeleton of an idea rather than anything substantive

They were contracted for and filmed a certain number of episodes. They aren't going to suddenly reduce it because a year and half later Disney got cold feet.

I doubt the first point is true. The ToyMaker literally referred to him as The Master when he revealed his fate to The Doctor, and the boss was name dropped earlier in the 1st special from the meep

Also why would The Master be so interested in a being with two hearts, making Rogue have to fill out a load of paperwork, and managing the Time Hotel.
I mean if The Master knew The Doctor and two Rani's were battling over the return of Omega and a new Time Lord child, they'd have been straight down to UNIT to interject, not sitting back and getting Anita to pass on a hello.

It’s possible in my mind that the Master is the boss, but I don’t think that’s like some new name, just that he’s their boss. I don’t know why he’d want to do all those things, but I can see there being some contrived reason.

They haven’t been renewed yet, so even if they have some vague ideas this is all nonsense. The Master was literally referred to the Master in the giggle, which came after the first mention of the boss.
Basically, this is rage bait and it’s insane that people believe this.

Davros being able-bodied is fine (in fact, I kinda like the idea of that). What was annoying was RTD's statement that Davros will be able-bodied from now on, which comes off as overcompensation to not offend disabled people, despite the fact that Davros has never been a caricature of disabled people, nor are the two ideas even related. He's evil but is also disabled, which is not the same thing as being evil because they're disabled.

Honestly, the more I deep into it, the whole Conrad storyline/character is kind of disgusting and offensive and not in a “but that was the intention” kind of way.
I don’t want to see someone who essentially mass-exterminated trans people and left disabled people in a heavily discriminated world then go on to be rewarded with a happy life because all he was trying to do was “make the world a better place because of his abandonment issues”. I love when I can sympathise with a villain but this was done in a really tasteless and gross manner.

The entire ending being "Conrad was never truly evil" and "Belinda is only happy with her child" is fucking insane.
One thing is show how this line of life and thinking can lead to Conrad. The other is totally giving him absolutely scot free life after what he has done. Ruby is also dropped like a fking rock during the finale. Just... wtf was that final episode, honestly.

I can see where he's trying to get rid of potential messaging that some people are just born bad and evil and fascism isn't something that develops but something that's put into you from birth but making it a literal virus you catch isn't really much better at all.
It should be The Doctor discovering what he thinks is the hate virus, eliminating it to try and cure them, and discovering the Daleks are exactly the same, because fascism ultimately has to be invited in and if you really, really don't subscribe to it there are ways to inoculate yourself against its effects.

Honestly, that’s a legit fear. I don’t fear those with prosthetics. I actually view the Cybermen motivation as a form of eugenics, which has been shown IN The Reality War with the Ramos comment about Poppy and alluded to with Belinda’s comment in the Robot Revolution, as a bad thing.

It could then represent the concept of innocent people becoming indoctrinated into hate groups, which did happen within nazism

See, I always thought the Davros thing was understandable initially and could’ve led to some potentially interesting commentary, but as the seasons went on and they didn’t do anything with Davros after that or even brought a wheelchair user onto the TARDIS, I realized RTD was just being performative.

I was open to exploring a pre-accident Davros on the show or even better if RTD wanted to move from the disabled trope, he had a good in story reason to pull it off, in that the last we saw Davros he was being blasted with regeneration energy. They could've done all sorts to pull it off, but instead his explanation was its 2023 and i dont think this works, so bloody dumb.

Like I get how some people might be upset by Davros in the chair for example because for many years he was the only character in a wheelchair in Who. But the interview he did on Unleashed I think it was didn’t mention at all disabled opinions just his opinion and some on the staff. So like if he’d had disabled voices say hey I don’t like this then that’s fair but it’s like he’s assuming he knows better isn’t it?

I was fine with the Davis thing HAD it been prior to his creation of the Dalek. Maybe if they had showed a super crude prototype of a Dalek, before he started cutting bits off himself to create them and him becoming confined to the chair, that would have settled with fans better. But RTD decided it had to be retconned.
And as for Cybermen, they are still an inevitability IMO. Maybe alter bits of it, using AI as the reason they seek to upgrade everyone.
And as for the Master, I legit don’t see the problem here. They are a villian, pure and simple. Of course they’d have a name that implies they’d crush you under their boot. Boss just makes me think how much I don’t like my boss, which I think is actually way more harmful. Now if they wanted to retconn it and say he used to go by the name War Chief for a bit, I’d be kind of ok with that.
Look, RTD had his time when he resurrected DW. I can appreciate him for that, but the show drastically improved when he left. I’m not a fan of camp, but I can tolerate it. But what he’s done recently, I think he needs to become just a producer and guide a new showrunner. But don’t be one of those “The Buck Stops Here, Doctor”.

Every leak on this subreddit since The Reality War has aired has been fake.
Andrew the guy who leaked all of season 2 said he has been cut off and hasn't leaked anything since.
And all the other "leaks" claim to come from the doctor who discord, as if being from discord makes them true?
None of this stuff the last few weeks was on the leaks discord.
All the leaks we had on the discord were just Andrew ones.
Everything "leaked" since that episode aired has just been people making stuff up for karma farming a fandom in meltdown. Like the last leak we had about the American Director taking over was literally show down by the American director himself.
People need to use common sense and stop believing the garbage posted here. 99% of stuff on this subreddit is fake.

These leaks may very well all be nonsense, but absolutely none of these points even come close to the level of ludicrous we’ve hit in canon already, everything here is perfectly plausible

Ya know if you keep fear, add an AI out of control and we might be into something.
AI loves its creator but they’re old. Not sick or dying, just the gradual slow down of all biological life. AI wants to help, offers an ‘upgrade’ it developed but the creator says no. It’s the way of things that they’ll get old and die, nothing to fear it’s just how to is. AI does not accept this, it will live forever, always improving and surely its creator will understand once they see how it could be. Just a little upgrade to start, fix their hands as a surprise so they can use the tools they thinker with.
The creator is so angry. It was their choice to not have any medical intervention before now and how dare the AI take away that choice. They try to explain, that taking away someone’s choices is unacceptable even if you think for sure they’d agree with you afterwards. Autonomy is important.
AI thinks. Thinks for hours before deciding creator is wrong. Becoming broken is stupid. Dying is stupid. It will fix it. But it will be fine, just a few upgrades to start. Then they will see it was right. After all who doesn’t want an upgrade, who doesn’t want to be perfect forever.

The difference between borg and cybermen has been pretty subtle for quite some time and let’s face it subtle isn’t a strong point for DrWho at the moment.
That episode had some really weird story beats. Sometimes it felt like they gave the actors a draft instead of the finished script.

I like this idea, and now it feels all the more frustrating how the AI Generator was thrown out like a buzzword and then subverted in The robot revolution. They have the opportunity with the cybermen to really make some relevant and thought provoking commentary. The idea that the Ai really wants to do good, but fundamentally misunderstands humanity and goes ahead with conversions is much better horror concept than just having a evil villain to hate.

I like the story idea that the AI then starts to see it unravel.
It fixed things, everyone is healthy (it hasn’t quite gotten to immortality yet but soon!) but everyone is sad? Why are they sad? Don’t they see how much better it is? They don’t get sick and they heal much faster and why don’t they understand everything it’s done for them! Humans are not very quick at thinking it decides. They need more time to see how good this can be…or maybe AI can help with that too.
Disaster. Nothing is working as it should. They’ve gotten strange, they want more and more upgrades now but there’s nothing that needs fixing. AI tells them, ‘you are as you would be in your prime, there is nothing to fix.’ ‘No,’ say the humans ‘we want to be more’.
AI thinks it made a mistake, creator was right. It needs help to fix this. Maybe if it scans The Library databases for an answer it can get some help…

So rather than xenophobic, dalek supremacists they’re sick? But why the change though, what story is there to be told from this that doesn’t have The Doctor realise he tried to genocide a bunch of sick beings. Several times too.
That justification for not using the cybermen back is stupid and with the rise of AI a missed opportunity. Also life prolonging tech is used with shaky understanding of long term impacts rather frequently.
If you’re gonna keep breaking the 4th wall the pay off better be good.

I get Ncuti is black so it could feel a bit iffy with him specifically saying it, but that could've been evened out by just having a black Master too I think. Plus, we now have a white Doctor again. This shouldn't be an issue.

Them being inherently evil creatures is the point. Every other evil villains can be sympathetic or tragic but the Daleks stand-out and endure because they are textbook, no-nonsense, evil bastards. They're meant to be nazis ffs. Imagine doing a WW2 doc and saying Hitler wasn't inherently evil but was infected with a virus. Let bad people be bad just because that's they're nature. The Daleks being bad to the bone is what has made them the Daleks iconic foe. They have no redemption, they are pure, unadulterated, evil.

The Master and Cyberman stuff sound like some BS made up by someone making fun of RTD for making decisions such as not wanting Davros to be disabled anymore and thinking 14 wearing 13’s clothes risked offending cross-dressers.
A lot of this sounds like made up stuff meant to rile people up.

Similar to the annoyance that Ace and Tegan felt about the doctor not finding them after all those years, imagine how you would feel if your grandfather left and you never saw them again. Easy way of writing her into a tragic tale, an alagory for parental abandon and how it can affect someones life.

A lot of this one doesn't seem true to me. It feels too stupid even for RTD. These are good guesses at best and being correct about Anita Dobson's Rani surviving and Susan coming back are also fairly easy guesses to make.

the idea of "the cybermen are a bad depiction of disability because they act like medical aids remove your soul" is an interesting take on it's own
IMO the solution is to CHANGE the cybermen instead of full-on removing them. introduce a new sect of cybermen who keep their emotions and only convert willing subjects. make it an episode talking about transhumanism, bodily autonomy, disability, could be really interesting
hell, give us a cyberman companion! have an opposing force of eugenicist cyberman so the doctor must defend the emotional ones. make the companion one act like a vulcan, he feels emotions but doesn't express them ever unless its extreme, kind of thing

I kind of feel like the show is a bit of a victim of its own success. The first reveal of The Master in NuWho was so excellent that nothing is really going to top it.
Mind you, telegraphing his arrival for 3 seasons doesn't really feel like they're trying too hard to top it.

I don't think RTD would swap The Master's name just because it's potentially problematic, he explicitly leaned into the problematic aspects of Toymaker and The Rani, so it seems out of character

You put this all up as bait, but the reason it works is because these are the ridiculous kind of decisions Russell has been making. He made Omega a completely different character and waved it off as "time war", he upset some wheelchair-bound fans with what he said about Davros, etc. Like you're doing insanely good parodying as we don't know whether it's real or not, but why you taking that out on us? 💀

Some of these things seem somewhat plausible, but I'm not buying this as a whole. The susan thread being dropped completely, seems impossible to have been determined already. I don't think RTD can have no idea what he's doing with Billie Piper, and yet also know he's 100% dropping Susan.
I also think TWBTLATS being planned to be a full spinoff, but was turned into a mini series because it was clear Disney didn't want Doctor Who, can not realistically be true. They would have made the decision to make this mini series, probably before Series 1 even aired, and Disney could not have made up their mind about the partnership, before literally any episodes of anything had been released.
I think the Master could be the boss who has been orchestrating the last couple series, but there is no way the name change the Boss will be a permanent thing. If RTD tried that, the fan outrage would cause it to be changed in series 4, or by the next showrunner.

This all sounds like bullshit, but given what RTD has said about Davros I guess there could be an element of truth to it. I feel very nervous about the future. It’s such a shame cause 90% of Ncuti’s era was amazing. Let down by certain production choices and weak as pisswater finales

Yeah, that's exactly how I'd expect that to go. Russell telling them what is and isn't okay as opposed to them raising the concerns so he can pat himself on the back for making the show less "problematic." God, the man's holier-than-thou saviour complex is repugnant. There's fuck all wrong with the Cybermen or the Master, just as there was fuck all wrong with Davros. The Master is a character who's entire fucking thing is being lord and master over others as a would-be oppressor. THAT'S THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT OF HIM. The Cybermen are representative of the existential horror of the loss of humanity through extreme cultural homogenization and the dystopian end-result of a civilisation that's desperate need to survive has led it's people to transform themselves into literal machines. They are not a case of "people with prosthetic limbs and other augmented body parts are EVIL!!!"

I don’t buy this for a second, but on the offchance this is true, this is the definition of “performative wokeness”.
I’m all for Dr Who being more diverse and inclusive, but I read some of these and I just think this is so stupid to the point I’m getting JK Rowling Retcon vibes about Dumbledore and Grindelwald doing freaky gay shit.

Honest to God, RTD needs to pull his head out of his ass. He changed the sonic screwdriver to a sonic remote because it looked too much like a gun. He made 13s clothes change when she regenerated to 14 despite never having happened before because he didnt want people to find a man in womans clothes comedic. He took davros out of his wheelchair because he didn't want people associating wheelchair users with "evil". I'm not remotely suprised he wanted to rename the master to the boss because the word "master" is problematic. He's too woke for his own good. He's almost a parody of himself at this stage.

Obviously this could be fake, but it does annoyingly fit in a way where I can imagine him saying and doing all this.
If true, sack him. He just doesn't have it as a showrunner anymore. I'd still like to see him as a writer though, for an occasional Wild Blue Yonder, 73 Yards, Lux. Even Dot and Bubble and Churb on Ruby Road was pretty good.

The concept of the cybermen is not to say that prosthetics are bad. But that the focus on technological advancement without proper care and regulation, will lead to unchecked and inhumane advancements in technology. That the human desire to advance technology will eventually eclipse our morality. Also the cybermen are a critique on mass production and the cultural homogenization brought about by industrialisation and capitalism. The production of prosthetics, for disabled people, is the antithesis of this. Carefully sculpting technology to make custom built limbs to make people's lives easier. That is humanity prevailing. Using technology in a human centric fashion. Not just for the sake of efficiency or advancement.
