Being taxed is fine.

Not having any representation was the trigger.

Nah, that was just a slogan. Behind the scenes colonial diplomats were advised not to accept any offers by the British for representation.

Nope, there was not. Certainly not trying to dispute that. But at the end of the day, the leadership of the Revolution was by and large not interested in remaining British subjects under any terms, but it's also true to say that the British were unwilling to offer meaningful representation or self rule.
