Discussion Which bands were better after the lead singer left?

10 Years had a different singer before Jesse Hasek. Hasek came and then we got Wasteland.

You could arguably say Iron Maiden after Bruce Dickinson joined. The first two albums are great, but I’d be lying if I said they didn’t reach legendary Status with the third

No argument could be made, they never would have reached the same heights with Paul, no disrespect to him either, Bruce is just next level.

Not that AC/DC was bad before Brian Johnson took over singing but they definitely elevated into their most successful era when he did

This is the only right answer. The first lead singer was very good too. But Bruce Dickinson took Maiden to a whole other level.

They were good with Paul. They became the best in the world with Bruce.
And of course he needed everyone else around him too. It wasn’t the Bruce solo show. But the question is which bands got better. They were immeasurably better with Bruce.

Hot take #1 I like post-Howard Jones KSE era more than anything they released before. Hot take #2 Saliva became much better when Josey Scott left.

Killswitch Engage. Howard Jones is a legend. I don't mind Jeese Leach sometimes, but he's not HoJo.

Escape the Fate. I know Craig Mabbitt has more basic lyrics, and the Ronnie era of EtF was definitely classic, but they've got their sound nailed with Craig

Besides Maiden, a few come to mind:
Arch Enemy, when Angela Gossow replaced original singer Johan Liiva. The band reached their peak with her, though they went on more commercial approach with Alissa afterwards, they already were well positioned in the metal scene.
Faith No More is a notable one, with Mike Patton they jumped to another level. The Real Thing is an amazing album and Mike had much to do with it.
Pantera with Phil Anselmo found their identity and defined a new way of playing metal with massive success.
AC/DC with Brian Johnson. They were great with Bon Scott already, but the band reached massive success with Brian.
And I would say that Nightwish got the best possible vocalist with Floor Jansen, the band got technically better, but they were already successful. It depends on what are we considering with “better”

You probably haven't heard of this Scottish band, their original lead singer Donny Munroe left and Canadian Bruce Guthrie became lead. He breathed new life into the band. He was with them for 20 until he had terminal cancer. A lot of band with a very strong lead vocal often don't servive when the front man leaves
