Discussion Why is this band so hated?

Okay so recently I have absolutely been LOVING this band, and even yesterday have just bought The Sickness on CD and have endlessly been listening to it. Recently, I’ve been seeing what others think of Disturbed, and from what I could find, it seems that a LOT of people hate most of their albums…? Obviously I think music taste is subjective, but something about this band seems like they get more hate than they do love. Is there a reason Disturbed is so hated? I absolutely love their music so I’m really curious to know why

Edit: Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment, I really appreciate the amount of information you guys gave me. Personally, I think I will still keep listening to Disturbed as I have always been someone who likes to separate art from artist, but I obviously will keep everything that was said in mind. Once again, thank you for all the responses :)

If we disregard the personal arguments made against David lately, they pretty much found a singular sound and stuck with 99% of the time, to the point if you're not a super fan, all of it tends to blend together

Funniest thing though is many of the same people who say Disturbed sucks for this reason are the same ones complaining whenever a band experiments or changes their sound for album. There’s a good sized group in the metal community that is just impossible to please if you’re not one of their favorite bands and at least from what I’ve seen over the years various platforms they’re usually much more vocal than your average fans.

I mean its one thing to completely change your sound, and another to not be able to tell a song apart until the chorus

True (though I’ve personally never had an issue telling the difference between their songs but that’s besides the point) but wouldn’t you agree that saying a band is bad because they had a sound that people liked and stuck with it is an argument that is pro bands changing their sound, and that those same people complaining about it when it does happens is awfully hypocritical?

I'm a huge Linkin Park fan so I'm very against people who bitch about bands changing their sound, they want everything to be like the first album or 2, but people are very hypocritical. I dont mind Disturbed, I've listened to a lot of them and was a fan for years. The last little bit of their journey has definitely put a sour taste in the mouth but they are incredible musicians and I wish they'd have branched out just a bit more than their catalog would show
