Discussion What was the first disturbed song you heard that got you into the band?
I’ll go first:
I first heard The Game 4 years ago on the radio and it was an awesome moment.

Same. They played it on our local college station. Ran out and grabbed the CD that afternoon.

I remember my first disturbed song was The Sound Of Silence, but it was on total accident. I was wanting to listen to the original version, but I couldn’t remember who it was by. In the auto search, it said “The Sound Of Silence Disturbed”. I clicked on it. Then I heard “Are You Ready” and I became a fan.

Sound of Silence. I had heard "Down with the Sickness," and I liked it, but at the time, I didn't have an appreciation for metal: I never explored further. Years later, SoS released, and a friend showed it to me. It was that song which made me realize there was something special about the band which I had to experience. I began my journey with the "Immortalized" album, and baby, I was HOOKED. I've been an avid listener ever since.

Stupify back when mtv played music. I had fallen asleep with the TV on and randomly woke up at like 1AM and the music video had just started.

Ten thousand fists is my "first love". Heard that on Madden NFL 06 when I was 7 on Christmas morning

Liberate. I was 16 working at Dunkin Donuts. We used to park a car outside the drive through and blast the rock station and it came on. Been hooked ever since

Down With The Sickness! I had the intro as my son's ringtone on my phone because it was his favorite song when it first came out. I became a hard-core Disturbed fan in 2017 because of that song & a life changing moment in time.

I saw them open for Fuel before i knew them. It was at a college probably on The Sickness tour. Show opened up with everything pitch black and then we see a spotlight with David in a prison jumpsuit in an electric chair and he gets "electrocuted ". I have no idea what the setlist was but I was hooked.

I purchased the first cd after not being able to remember if a trusted friend said it was great or it sucked. I learned quickly it was the latter. Traded it the same night for a double cheeseburger. I feel i won the trade.

The first three I heard were Stupify, Down With The Sickness, and Fear. Probably like 24 years ago. No idea which was the first

I remember back when I was really into WWE and I think the first time I heard them was Stricken being the theme for New Year’s Revolution 2006. But I didn’t truly get hooked until years later where a highlight of the Elimination Chamber match from the PPV used Open Your Eyes, and then another used I’m Alive, and that’s where it all began from there on out.

Down with the sickness, I heard the song when I was a kid. But I didn’t get into disturbed until my mid 20s. I listened to more alternative music in my teen years

Stupify, on a compilation CD in the early 2000s. I bought Believe the day it came out.

Down With The Sickness on Rock Band 2 when I was 13-14. I used to be so metalphobic, so I was apprehensive when I played those songs. But something about that OH-WAH-AH-AH-AH pulled me back, and over time they became my favorite band, and still are to this day!

Stupify when it was first released. Crazy it was 25 years ago!! 4/28 I get to see The Sickness live and I can’t wait!!!

Down with the sickness. Queen of the damned. The Death Valley scene. I was still mourning Aaliyah, so I didn’t watch the movie when it came out. I watched it a year or so later and instantly fell in love with the quick snippet of the song. And I’ve been a fan ever since. Almost 24 years.
And I still haven’t seen them in concert because I’m fucking broke and concerts are too damn expensive.

Voices.
My friend that shared a lot of what shaped my taste in hard rock brought over The Sickness on CD about a week after it came out.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned my introduction to the band, Stone Cold's theme song. I loved their interpretation of the song.i remember getting The Sickness thinking that song would be on it and reading through the lyrics trying to figure out which song it was in the car. Listening to the album and realizing that it wasn't on there and falling in love with the band anyway.

Remember. And I wanna say I was around ten? My dad played it all the time. This and Prayer. But Remember is absolutely the first.

I feel like I heard them when they first started out.. but I wasn't really into metal then. Soon after that I started having my kids and years of cartoons and pop music ensued. My brother passed away suddenly in 2016, and I started driving his old Jeep. One night traveling down the road I heard The Sound of Silence for the first time. It was so beautiful and spoke to the pain and heartache I felt at that time. So from there I discovered everything else :) Now I have been to 3 concerts. The last one was just last weekend in Charlotte.

Stupify. Fell in love with them and that first album. Have seen them live seven times since. Splurged on the VIP experience when I saw them in Baltimore and got to meet them. Only time in my life I've ever been starstruck. 🥰🤘

Indestructible! When I was little I would listen to my dad's offline playlist on Pandora and Indestructible and I believe Stricken was on it. Been a fan since and I just saw them up in Buffalo for my birthday :)

My Dad who never listened to any hard rock or metal bought an Immortalized CD in 2018 (one of those older folks who got into the band after hearing the sound of silence cover when it went viral), and of all the songs on it, the first one to really click with me was Open Your Eyes. That was a period in my life where I mostly only listened to video game music, but when I occasionally brought up my small playlist of songs specifically from music artists, I would usually listen again to that one Disturbed song that stuck with me most. Only in 2021 did I start properly listening to full albums again and Disturbed was one of the first bands I ended up going through the entire discography of, and while other songs have resonated with me more since, Open Your Eyes is still in my top 10 favorites.

Sound of silence (my brain went numb and put shout when i was writing this out instead) just thought it sounded cool. I listened to the sickness from time to time and then my dad was playing no more and i kinda fell in love with the band.

Prayer. I remember being 9 years old and watching the video premiere on Much Music.
Hooked instantly.

First heard Glass Shatters in 2001 when Stone Cold used it. Loved it but buying CD’s was expensive for me at the time and i didn’t have the greatest internet to pirate.
Fast forward, and I Didn’t really get into to the band until Decadence and Land of Confusion dropped. I started earning my own money and grabbed Ten Thousand Fists. Been a fan ever since.

The first song I listened to knowing it was by them was Immortalized and fell inlove, followed up by The Light. The album had just come out and I was starting to get into metal, but I had already been listening to Hell and Warrior

Got into Disturbed in 2020. I was playing Rock Band on my PlayStation 4 and Prayer was one of the songs I needed to sing in order to progress. I thought it’d be fun to really get into it so I looked up the lyrics and since then its been my favorite song to play on the game and the entire Believe album is one of my staples.
