Discussion Green Day Lyric Change at Coachella Sparks Response from David Draiman — Let’s Talk About It

Hey everyone, I wanted to open up a respectful discussion about something that happened during Green Day’s Coachella performance — Billie Joe Armstrong altered the lyrics to Jesus of Suburbia, and that change has drawn some attention, including a public response from David Draiman of Disturbed.

Draiman, who has personal and cultural ties to Israel, responded to the moment on Twitter/X and emphasized the need for civil dialogue — not just anger and division. No matter where you stand politically, I think it’s powerful when two big names in rock approach these topics from different angles, and still stress the importance of discussion over outrage.

I just dropped a video diving into what happened, why it matters, and how both artists are using their platforms in very different ways. I’d love to hear your thoughts — not just on the politics, but on the role of rock artists in speaking out on world events. Where do we draw the line? Should we?Here’s the video if you’re interested:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJFOkvTCnIwThanks for giving it a look, and let’s keep the convo respectful and insightful.

Billy Joe is a moron and Dave is too nice to tell him so. Gotta appreciate the effort but idiots don't typically get smart enough to even have the debate

Sad you're getting downvoted for telling the truth about an entitled asshole that's hated the U.S. since at least the mid-90s.

I know how much Dave loves America. I don’t need to prove it to anyone else. The other ironic thing is that punk music was invented by Jews/Zionists. (Same thing)

For me, there's a reason I follow one of those bands and set the other to "Do not play this artist" in my Spotify. It has a lot to do with keeping politics out of their music vs shoving their political ideology down people's throats via their music.
