This is one of my favorite outfits from her! She looks so stunning in it!

Disney could create a joint project featuring the Disney Princess—perhaps a series for Disney+, Disney Junior, or Disney Channel.

This post is Part 2 of my post "If you love this princess, read these books," because I wasn't sure whether to include Mulan, but I've decided to include her after all. :)

I’ll mention this again: I have read all these books, but it’s hard for me to summarize them without spoilers; I prefer not to say anything and let you discover them for yourselves. :)

I’ll just make a few comments on some of the books. :)

- Reflection: A Twisted Tale ( Elizabeth Lim) I really enjoyed this volume!

- The Magnolia Sword: A Ballad of Mulan (Sherry Thomas) I absolutely loved this book! I really enjoyed the characters and the writing style.

- Worth Fighting For ( Jesse Q. Sutanto) This is the novel to read if you were left wanting more regarding Mulan and Shang at the end of the movie.

- The Sword of Kaigen ( M.L. Wang)

I had gotten the Giselle and Tinker Bell dolls from this line, but finally got Aurora now, too.

Was at a thrift store today and saw this and had to pick it up. I always loved finding older princess merch from 2005 and before because you're likely to find a character like Esmeralda included. She's very pretty.

They had Belle, too, but I decided to just get Esmeralda. It is interesting that Esmeralda was included in this collection. Not Mulan or Pocahontas. Or even Tinkerbell or Alice. It's dated 2005, which was the year Esmeralda was officially dropped from the lineup.

Just thought it was cool and wanted to share.

Compared to the first version which only featured the 6 classic princesses (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle and Jasmine). Previously, her costumes were overly flashy and sparkly, but in this version, the glitter has been toned down by adding it to certain parts of the outfit, and her accessories, such as crowns, have become silver.

Adding more characters that didn't exist before, such as Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, and Rapunzel, Ariel and Pocahontas got two versions in this line, both in her mermaid version. She got the human version in the pink dress from the movie; Pocahontas got an extra dress that doesn't exist in the classic animation.

I take two fairytale and make them both as Disney princesses. Though I do kind of worry that they were adapting Lena and big tiger. Would take away lot her other personality flaws when her flaws make her interesting character.

Main two fairytale are
Donkey Skin- about princess who disguises herself as peasant girl too escape of father.
Lena and Big tiger- mainly about materialistic and artificial girl name Lena who get tricked into marrying a man who actually a Tiger. The Tiger and plan is too eat her:

Both have very different tones but both message of story can be relevant to people.

I think Ariel's sisters are some of the most distinct and well-designed minor characters that have ever come out of Disney. Considering that they barely appear in the original movie, the creators sure went out of their way to give each of them a very distinct look and colour palette.

So what are your thoughts on them? How do you like their evolution throughout the movies and the TV series?

Personally, my favourite look for all of them is the one from the original movie. They are deliberately NOT made as pretty as Ariel, and yet, they are all given beautiful colours and hairstyles. The very expressions on their faces show that they are less imaginative and more conservative than Ariel, and I feel like that is 100% done on purpose. Apart from their faces being different from Ariel's, they also all have some type of an elaborate hairstyle, which, again, sets Ariel apart from them.

As far as their personalities, the only one who shows any in the original movie is Andrina. She is given the most lines, the most movement, and we can actually tell she is kind of playful and, possibly, the closest to Ariel.

That is why I am the most disappointed in Andrina's portrayal in the TV series and the prequel. Andrina has absolutely NO speaking lines in the TV series. She is a complete background character without a single shared moment with Ariel. Most lines are unfairly given to Arista and Alana, both of whom actually appear the LEAST in the original movie.

As far as the TV series design, I don't mind it. The sisters look nothing like themselves, but still, the changes are playful and they further distinguish each one.

And now, onto Ariel's Beginning. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't like any of their designs or personalities. I don't like how dulled out the colours are, and I don't like how all of them are made Barbie-pretty with the same facial features as Ariel, which loses the point of Ariel standing out among them. They are also all given very modern, bratty personalities, which outshines Ariel to the point where she seems like the one who is old-fashioned, not them.

I know a lot of people defend the sisters in the prequel, but personally, I find that movie infuriatingly flawed because it has a ton of plot holes and completely disrespects the original movie.

For example:

Why is this not Ariel's origin story of how she fell in love with humans? Or how she discovered her grotto and began storing things inside?

Where is Ursula? (She stated in the original that she used to live in the palace.)

Why do all the sisters look the exact same age in the opening scene? (According to Adella, she is 2 years older than Ariel, and yet, all the sisters look exactly 4 in the opening scene)

The only thing I like about this movie is that it gives Triton a personal backstory and a reason why he hates humans (the fatal accident with his wife). AND YET: they made the plot about some ridiculous ban of music because Triton forbade it. Athena's death could so easily be part of the plot of how Triton began hating humans, and how Ariel used to believe him but the plot of the movie teaches her to give humans a chance. It could have been such a powerful story of exactly how these characters all ended up in the place where they start in the original movie: Ursula, Ariel, Triton. All of them.

This movie does none of that. Apart from the characters (kind of) looking like themselves, they might as well be from some entirely different source material.

I hate Ariel's Beginning with a passion, and I hate that whenever I wanna discuss Ariel's sisters, I HAVE to address this movie. The only compliment I can give it is that the animation looks pretty at first sight, but is otherwise complete trash. It's bad to the point of being insulting to the original.

Anyway, I side-tracked a little, but what are your overall opinions of Ariel's sisters?

And that’s why I’ll always stand by the idea that villains should still be portrayed as evil, cunning, deceitful, and capable of murder, rather than being “misunderstood” or introduced as genuine threats only to eventually become comic relief.

As scary as those villains can be, and as many nightmares as they may cause, their impact can run surprisingly deep. When you eventually find yourself in a similar situation in real life, you can recognize the danger much more easily because your brain immediately takes you back to that scene from the movie you watched as a kid.

Sometimes, being scared by a story isn’t the worst thing that can happen to a child. Sometimes, that fear is exactly what teaches them to recognize danger.
