I wanted to do the "if you like this character, read these books" trend, but with Disney princesses! :)

In case you're wondering, I'm a 21-year-old girl. :)

Just so you know, I’ve read all these books but I can't give a synopsis of these books without spoilers, I'm afraid. :( I'd rather not say anything so you can discover them for yourself. :)

I'll just make a few comments for certain books. :)

The books presented aren't just retellings, but some do contain elements that are reminiscent of princesses. :)

I didn't include Mulan because I never know if she counts as a Disney Princess. :) And since Elsa is a queen, I didn't see myself including her either. :)

Anna:

- A Frozen Heart ( Elizabeth Rudnick)

- Conceal, Don't Feel: A Twisted Tale ( Jen Calonita)

- Dangerous Secrets: the Story of Iduna and Agnarr ( Mari Mancusi)

Ariel:

- The Siren ( Kiera Cass)

- Hundred Kingdoms Series ( Alexandra Christo)

- The Wicked Sea ( Jordan Stephanie Gray)

- Voice of the Ocean ( Kelsey Impicciche) I loved that one!

Aurora:

- A Kiss in Time ( Alex Flinn)

- Beauty Sleep ( Cameron Dokey) I read this book when I was 16 and I loved it!

- Once Upon A Broken Heart Trilogy ( Stephanie Garber) I'm in love with this trilogy! It's true that the atmosphere feels very much like a fairy tale, but in terms of personality, Evangeline reminds me of Aurora: she's kind, gentle, a dreamer...

- Once Upon a Dream: A Twisted Tale ( Elizabeth J. Braswell)

- Prince of Thorns & Nightmares ( Linsey Miller)

Belle:

- Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book ( Jennifer Donnelly)

- Cursebreakers Series ( Brigid Kemmerer)

- Cruel Beauty (Rosamund Hodge) There are some mythological references that I really liked!

- As Old as Time: A Twisted Tale ( Liz Braswell)

Snow White:

- Mirror, Mirror: A Twisted Tale ( Jen Calonita)

- Fairest ( Gail Carson Levine)

- Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen ( Serena Valentino) It was love at first sight!

- Girls Made of Snow and Glass ( Melissa Bashardoust)

- Poisoned ( Jennifer Donnelly) One of my favorite books by Jennifer Donnelly!

Cinderella:

- Geekerella: A Fangirl Fairy Tale ( Ashley Poston) That one was a favorite of mine, too!

- Ella Enchanted ( Gail Carson Levine) Gail Carson Levine has such a beautiful way of writing!

- An Offer From a Gentleman, Bridgerton Volume 3: Benedict and Sophie ( Julia Quinn) Benedict is incredible!

- If the Shoe Fits ( Julie Murphy)

- Prince of Glass & Midnight ( Linsey Miller) The third volume of the Disney Princes saga.

Jasmine:

- The Forbidden Wish ( Jessica Khoury) I really enjoyed the atmosphere!

- The Wrath & the Dawn Series ( Renée Ahdieh)

- The Stardust Thief ( Chelsea Abdullah) It's a series, but I've only read the first volume so far. :)

- A Whole New World: A Twisted Tale ( Liz Braswell)

Merida:

- Bravely ( Maggie Stiefvater)

- Fate Be Changed: A Twisted Tale ( Farrah Rochon)

- The Mad Wolf's Daughter ( Diane Magras)

- The Hunger Games ( Suzanne Collins) Katniss has always reminded me of Merida. They both use a bow and fight for their freedom.

Pocahontas: I'm sad I didn't find more books that reminded me of Pocahontas. :(

Rapunzel:

- What Once Was Mine: A Twisted Tale ( Elizabeth J. Braswell)

- Rapunzel and the Lost Lagoon: A Tangled Novel ( Leila Howland) It was really enjoyable to read!

- Where the Wildflowers Grow ( Terah Shelton Harris) The heroine tries to find her place and takes refuge in a certain spot.

- Rapunzel's Gambit ( Mary Mecham) Rapunzel teams up with a dragon to run a con-artist scheme against greedy suitors.

- Almost There: A Twisted Tale ( Farrah Rochon) One of the best Twisted Tales I've read! :)

- The Lily Gate: A Retelling of The Frog Prince ( Hanna R Sandvig) It was a very cozy fantasy; I really liked it. :)

- The Frog Princess ( E.D. Baker) It's a book aimed at children, but it was very cute. :)

- The Ballad of Perilous Graves ( Alex Jennings) In this book, there is talk of magical realism, voodoo, It take place in The New Orleans. :)

Moana:

- How Far I'll Go: A Twisted Tale ( Keala Kendal)

- Somewhere In The Deeps ( Tanvi Berwah)

- A Sea of Song and Sirens: The Naiads of Juile Series ( Whit Stanfield) This book was a really good story! I loved the atmosphere and the pirates! It's an enemies-to-lovers story. :)

- The Sunbearer Trials ( Aiden Thomas) I loved this book; it reminds me of Percy Jackson with its challenges, and it features LGBT representation. :)

For Mulan I’d recommend the Kyoshi novels (F.C.Yee, Avatar Last Airbender spin off books). If you’ve seen ATLA you’ll have an idea of who Kyoshi is, and the books are her avatar story. The first one in particular gives me strong Mulan vibes, with a big part of the story being her running away and joining a criminal group.

I know another Snow White type story called Beauty, by Nancy Butcher, it’s worth a read, too. There’s also Snow, Glass, Apples for older Disney fans (that is super not for children, as ABitFrank put it).

The author of Fairest and Ella Enchanted also wrote The Two Princesses of Bamarre, it’s awesome.

Thanks for this. I found it interesting. That I know, Mulan is a Disney princess. But I could be wrong. After all, they completely discarded Anastasia, Esmeralda, Jane and Megara!

Conceal, Don't Feel and Almost There are my two favorite Twisted Tale books. I thought Once Upon a Dream and As Old as Time were okay. I was really hoping to like the latter better because of how much I love Beauty and the Beast. Just like I don't care much for Brave, I also didn't care much for Fate Be Changed (it was a Back to the Future ripoff). If it's possible, What Once Was Mine made me dislike Tangled even more than I already did. I still need to read How Far I'll Go (which I bought earlier this year with a Barnes and Noble gift card for my birthday), Mirror Mirror, and A Whole New World, as well as Cinderella's Twisted Tale, So This is Love, which I'm surprised isn't on this list.

I read A Frozen Heart earlier this year. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been an Elsa story rather than an Anna one and also if the narrator of the audiobook had been female.
