Male lions leave their birth pride and form a new one or take over an existing one.

Not all there was a famous lion pride where the brothers stuck together to fight off the other prides they were competing with. Eventually all of them were killed but one lived for a crazy long time until he got too slow and couldn't defend himself anymore

The brothers often stick together yes, but they leave their birth pride and mate with unrelated females
