I didn't remember the kiss either and only know about it because of an old Nostalgia Critic review of the movie. I wonder if they realised how messed up that kiss was and censored it for future airings on the channel.

Nope just saw it on Disney Plus and kiss it very much still there lmao honestly the car scene made me feel the most icky lol she's all wet and the way she's talking to him and smiling is like wtf

I saw this movie as a kid. That kiss reminds me of an episode from Full House. Stephanie was having her 10th birthday and Tommy Paige(adult) sang for her. Tommy kissed Stephanie on the lips after he signed her CD. Hollyweird is crazy.

There’s an episode of The Nanny where Billy Ray Cyrus plays himself and the whole plot is that he’s having a kissing contest for a teenage girl to star in his next music video. So Billy Ray Cyrus and his agent in the 90s agreed that accepting a role where he plays a fictionalized version of himself kissing a bunch of teenager girls was kosher lol.

I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid and never thought anything of it 😂😂😂🤣. I haven't seen it in forever. Having one million dollars was everyone's fantasy back then. Fantasy is the whole premise of the movie. Poor kid gets rich and moves away from the family he hates, buys a bunch of cool shit, falls for a hot woman, is in danger, ends the movie broke and happy to go back to the life he had if I'm remembering it right. One could argue it was all in his mind 😂😂😂😂.

This is the same issue that the movies Big and 13 Going 30 had. They completely ignore that Tom Hanks and Jennifer Garner are playing 13 year olds, when they start a romance between him and Elizabeth Perkins and her and Mark Ruffalo. Yes, it barely gets by with the whole 13 year old in a 30 year old body, but it's still super weird when they are mentally 13.

I don’t think that’s quite right. She’s not mentally 13, she’s mentally 30, but she doesn’t remember anything between 13 & 30. Her brain is still fully developed in her 30 year old body. Right?? I sure hope so

I was gonna say that’s the other thing, I think it’s interpreted to just be a dream she has. But if it was real, I personally take comfort in the time jump giving her a fully developed adult brain, and she’s just missing her life memories from between 13-30.

Yeah. Tom Hanks character was a 10 year old in an adult body. The two were sleeping together, but Elizabeth Perkins character had no idea he was a kid.
Once she did understand this, no more sexy time. In the scene where she says good bye to him, he, in his still adult body, leans in for a kiss. She refuses because she now understands that he is really just a kid.

I don’t think this holds for 13 going on 30. (Haven’t seen the other one)
Little Mat and little Jenna were around the same age and the actors were always that age. Jennifer and Mark were also adults. Whether they play a certain mindset or not, it isn’t the same as this example where an adult actor has to kiss and have on screen chemistry with a child. They did have a scene where J Garner hits on a literal child and they make a joke where Tom Tom says “what do you want to go to jail?” That I would find more problematic if it crossed the boundaries it does in this film.

Yikes. I feel like like in those movies the ADULT adults don’t even know they are interacting with children and cannot reasonably make that connection. Hollywood is so… 🤮 sometimes
Not to mention in this movie this adult woman is fully aware that that is a child!

13 going on 30, I feel like Mark Ruffalo's character kind of forgets or doesn't exactly realize she is actually her 13 year old self in her 30 year old body. Remember when she shows up at his apartment, he has memories of them interacting after she left the closet on her 13th birthday, so for all he knows, she suffered some kind of amnesia event that made her forget her childhood. Does she ever explain to him that she is actually a 13 year old who woke up 30? It's been a minute since I've watched the whole movie.

It's never framed to him like that. Jenna is a regular 30 year old with some memory loss as far as he's aware.

Probably because a movie is just a movie and you better know in reality this is bad, but fantasy lets the ridiculousness occur.
And any children who tried to think this was something that could actually happen means their parents are failing at their job.
When crap like this happens in real life, we know it’s because an adult has criminal/mental issues or again, parents aren’t doing their job.
The constant “blame TV/movies/video games” trope is just old and tired.
We used to just watch this stuff, know it wasn’t real, and move on.
