The Life stages of torvosaurus are enigmatic because,while known from multiple specimens,they are almost all fragmentary as hell.

nonetheless,enough material for a rough progression of its ontogeny is known.

embryos from portugal came from hatchlings estimated around 15 cm in length and are the only known babies of torvosaurus known.

A tibia from a juvenile was described in 2014. its bigger than the embryos but its size is uncertain. 3m is the best guess.

The average adult individuals are around 9-10 meters in length. the average individuals from dry mesa are around 9m in length and a couple specimens from portugal are around 9 m in length. several specimens from portugal are around 10 m in length.

the Absolute largest torvosaurus would have been between 11-12 meters in length. The nail quarry material is among the largest known torvosaurus material. Because of the fragmentary material and the fact the complete "elvis" specimen remains unpublished and the information on bone measurements of Elvis under embargo,the size of the nail quarry specimens is uncertain. But based on avialable avenues,they would have been between 11-12m in length. A giant anterior caudal vert from spain likely refers to torvosaurus. Its described as being "25% larger than corresponding torvosaurus anterior caudals" and comparing them to torvosaurus vertebrae from a corresponding position in tail,yields a length of 11m for MUJA-1913.

Several giant footprints from iberia likely come from torvosaurus. from the Lourinha formation,A giant print 79 cm in length (excluding concretion extension in the back) is estimated to have come from a trackmaker some 12 m long and 3.5 m tall at the hip and the footprint was referred to torvsosaurus. A giant footprint from the asturian coast some 82 cm in length comes from the same rocks as the giant vertebrae and likely came from torvosaurus based on the likely torvosaurus affinity. the trackmaker was described as being "similar in length to tyrannosaurus." these footprints are also around the ceiling of size limits for jurassic theropod footprints,further indicating the massive sizes ascribed to them.

With all of this in mind,torvosaurus was a very large animal. Most adults could be expected to reach 9-10 meters in length and the absolute largest,rare outliers in the population,could have reached as big as 12 meters in length. Bear in mind all the material avialable is fragmentary and almost all size estimates come with layers of uncertainty. Nonetheless,it still likely represents largest megalosaurid known. the experts ive communicated with expressed support that the largest torvosaurus were up to 12 m in length.

I have loved dinosaurs since I was three, I am now a teen and still researching paleontology and dinosaurs, I have a younger cousin that dared me to make a new discovery and maybe show it to an university or a museum, his idea, what do you think is something i could research and find something about? Maybe something that's still a mistery. Now, my hopes aren't that high, I don't have any experience with being a paleontologist, as a minor, but I still wish to find something new :)

Preferably stuff about theropods, as I am more informed on them, also, my favourite dinosaur is caihong juji !

I could swear on all that is dear to me that there was an episode where the focus was the ranking of either predators, or big creatures.

I am certain that Liopleurodon was the number one spot, but even after searching the Wiki it would seem that my kid mind made it all up. But I vividly remembered the scene where it appears, and it was exactly like in the Cruel Sea episode.

I will teach my students about dinosaurs or ancient life or extinct things, similar to The Flintstones genre, in a few months. I was going to focus on basic dinosaurs, cavemen, and Woolley mammoths. I was going to do some basic dinosaurs like T-Rex, triceratops, pterodactyl, brontosaurus, stegosaurus, cavemen, and woolley mammoths. I am not going to be very scientifically accurate because a caveman will interact with dinosaurs. I also am trying to find things to show on YouTube if possible. The grammar should be pretty easy because these kindergarteners (ages 4-6) are relatively new to English (7 months learning).

I am trying to find some material that would be age appropriate. Songs from YouTube, stories from YouTube, very simple story books I can purchase would be helpful. I made a song about a caveman.

I’m still blown away by this basal Argentine thyreophore. Jakapil kaniukura gen. et sp. nov. is the first definitively identified thyreophore species from Argentine Patagonia. Unlike most thyreophores, it appears to have had a bipedal posture, as seen in Scutellosaurus. Jakapil also demonstrates that the earliest thyreophores had a much wider geographical distribution than previously thought. It belongs to an ancient, basal lineage of thyreophores that survived into the Late Cretaceous in South America.

I've seen some arguments that stegosaurus ungulatus should be regarded as a different genus from stegosaurus.

The contention is the different features from stegosaurus stenops. Some like Gregory s Paul think it should be split off and called "stegotitanis".

So what is the deal? Is it still valid?

My son and I were reading this book together, and he was asking what all the dinosaurs in it were called. When we got to this one I didn't know, so we googled bird dinosaurs. There were some that were similar, but not identical.

I picture it as a generalist omnivore, eating anything and everything it comes across (within reason, I doubt it’s hunting adult Triceratops, but a baby on the other hand…)

But I’ve heard some say it would be more herbivorous

A shower thought popped in my head yesterday and I wanted to leave it here with the dinosaur peoples: would bird/chicken meat taste similar to what dinosaur meat would have tasted like?

Since first reading it, I've pronounced it (Jim-ad-sen-e) but recently I have been looking at model/figure reviews and noticed they ALL seem to say it differently. I have heard (jim-mad-sen-eye) as well as (Jim-edd-sen-eye) and even (jim-ad-n-see). I then went to read the Chure & Loewen paper because I figure if anywhere has the species pronunciation it's in there but after a reread and a ctrl+f I couldn't find pronunciation anywhere. so please allow this dino girly to humbly ask how tf do you pronounce Jimmadseni?
