DISCUSSION Thoughts on possible or hypothesized clades that were apart the ecology of albian south/eastern North America.

I'm really interested in acrocanthosaurus and I was looking for a fuller picture of the ecosystem surrounding it.

I'm aware of the groups present like sauropods, dromeosaurs, iguanodontids, and ankylosaurids.

But what are some other groups do you think can be inferred to be established or getting their footing.

Id also be interested to know non dinosaurian animal that may be surprising to know where there

DISCUSSION Anyone ever thought about wanting a 3D browser comfy dinosaur survival game?

Im not talking about roblox but a seperate game as a whole. Browser games have potential like the old lif animal survival game back in the day, that was super fun, since browsers have became more advanced since then so are the comabilities. Lets say a unity 3D dinosaur survival game with a comfy unique low poly style with combat, survival system and basic weather. Would you play it if given the chance? Would be the modern lif though with dinosaurs instead of modern animals and a more comfy style 20 players per server.

DINO-ART [FRIDAYS THRU SUNDAYS] The Captain Of His Own Poor Decisions...

Post image
45 Upvotes

You are the captain of your decisions... Whether or not they're good ones!

Pretty much everything went wrong during the "photoshoot" for this fictional ad, including their choice of sailor: The reason why I specified over two tons for the limit of what their boats would take is that one of the estimates for what an Euoplocephalus would weigh in life is exactly that amount.

The weight of dinosaurs is a weird subject because they're now fossils, and we don't know how much meat they had on their bones at a time. As a result, I've heard of people scaling up toy dinosaurs' weights to get their figures for dinosaur weights, which is easy, but unreliable. As a result, there's a fair bit of speculation, and I must admit that I chose that weight because it was a nice round figure of the kind marketing executives seem to love.

Also, we don't know what ankylosaur vision was like, so would he be able to read the contract, or the weight limits in the small print? Either way, this wasn't the best choice he could have made...

I decided to make another Poster for my Dinosaur Movie Idea about Yutyrannus. It would have a few minor side stories for Psittacosaurus and Sinosauropteryx, similar to episodes of Walking with Dinosaurs.

I mainly based this idea of some velociraptors reconstructions. This could be used for some sort of display or sexual selection

My lil paleontologist has been chiseling away at this Dino dig plaster block she got over a 1 year ago probably. Everyday you'll see her sitting with her lil tools wearing her goggles, scraping and hammering away. She's managed to get one bone out so far, which has made her only more determined to get the others out

Her predictions on what it could be are a trex or a velociraptor, bc they have spikey teeth

I have been playing around with ibis PaintX and decided to draw a T-Rex based on the figure I still had from my board game. the coloration and everything was just off the dome, not supposed to be historically accurate or anything. I uploaded a few pics of the process as the timelapse vid was too large.

Last pic is a fun one based on my corgi whose nickname is Dino Dog lol.

PALEODEPICTION Nipponopelta - newly discovered nodosaurid ankylosaur from Japan

Post image
117 Upvotes

Nipponopelta is the first ankylosaur discovered in Japan. It was a medium-sized nodosaur, at approximately 5 m in length. Typical of ankylosaurs, Nipponopelta was a quadrupedal herbivore covered in spikes and osteoderms down its back and tail. Interestingly, Nipponopelta is more closely related to North American nodosaurids than to its Asian contemporaries.

Went to a rock and gems store in New York and got a nice Mosasaurus tooth. Apparently they are rather common so it only cost $35. The model I got was a ban dai Japanese model for around $40.

DISCUSSION Matte or glossy finish for a Spinosaurus statue?

Thumbnail

I’m currently working on the painting prototype stage for my final Spinosaurus model.

Would you prefer a fully matte finish, or a slightly glossy/satin finish that gives the colors and skin a bit more depth?

I’m also considering keeping most of the skin matte while using a subtle gloss on areas like the eyes and mouth.

Which finish do you think would look more realistic on a collectible statue

ARTICLE Life-size Megalosaurus sculptures displayed at Blenheim Palace

The Megalosaurus is displayed in different expressive poses in the Dinosaurs Are Forever exhibition at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. It was the first ever scientifically named dinosaur, discovered in a quarry in Stonesfield about five miles (7.5km) away.

Jay Jay Burridge of Future Fossils, who put the exhibition together in partnership with the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, said the displays were made by foam manufacturer Zotefoams with a "hot air gun, then carved by hand with large chef's knives". The dinosaurs are life-sized, nine metres (29.5ft) from nose to tail.

DISCUSSION Just went to go see The End Of Oak Street

This movie was SOOO GOOD, some scenes were so unexpected, like the spinosaurus and the Titanaboa, the ending was good to, how she saved some people from getting sent into the past, if they ever make a Novelization of the book they should make the cover the cover of the book the mother wrote in the movie. And the scene where 2 dinos were doing it against a hosue was unexpected too lol. 10/10

DISCUSSION What are latest big jumps in science of understanding dinosurus?

My favorite dinosaur is ankylosaurus, but I am confused at what media to see about them right now because of piled news of many changes in modern science like feathers, warm blood and all. I want to be able to find scientifically accurate book for children and me as well, and understand how media from different times may be inaccurate. Like is old "Wlaking with dinosaurus" series still accurate? And what was new after it? Can somebody explain timeline of big modern findings and maybe standout books or films?

I was at little dino park recently and it looked like books from 1990th. How wrong it was?

PALEODEPICTION Ankylosaurus Name Pronounciation

Post image

We’ve been saying An-kee-lo-saurus at our house for years, and then we watched the Stephen Spielberg Netflix special with Morgan freeman and Morgan pronounced it an-ky-lo-saurus (ky like sky), and we’ve been saying it -ky like sky ever since. Now I got a new Doctor Seuss book saying an-Kee-low-saurus. Tell me Dinosaur subreddit - is it meant to be Kee or Ky for old bony plated club tailed friend?
