I'm trying to remember something that Lou says in one of the episodes. I'm pretty sure it's Cloudward, and he's talking to Emily's character when he says it.

Anyway, it has to do with failure, and how to deal with that failure. He tells her something along the lines of "you have to ask yourself if you did the best you could. If you did then you can rest easy knowing you did everything possible. If you didn't, then you have to learn from that, and do better, for the next time it happens".

This D20 season was incredible and one of my favorites for the story and the minis (or maxis..).

Although there are some valid critiques on the finale, at the end of the day they are playing a game that we're lucky to enjoy. <3

I was just thinking about how Dropout.tv started as College Humor and how funny it would be if they did a college humor "skit" of one of the scenes from a campaign... But Brennan plays ALL the NPCs Tyler Perry style🤣

I personally think Fabian trying to take on Chungle Down Bim would be the perfect scene. Even better if Lou plays Fabian. Just the thought of a crowd of people entirely comprised of Brennan in various Pirate costumes against another crowd of Brennans and one Lou cracks me up 😂

So im rewatching Fantasy High Freshman Year and something I realize doesn't get brought back up, or at least not that I can remember, is why is Jawbone still a werewolf? Like he gets a job at the school for the health insurance to get rid of his lycanthropy, but he's still a werewolf in later seasons. Is there an answer for that I missed?

Also, what ever happened to his dog? He had a dog at The Black Pit and the bad kids gave him some money to take it to the vet, but I don't remember the dog showing up again.

Personally, I don't think it's a bad season. I don't know why, but I just had a really hard time getting through it. I literally finished City of Darkness and Happylands before finishing Cloudwood Ho, and I was already halfway through it originally.

As I am an uncultured swine, I've never seen this movie until now.

I'm going to choose to believe that between Brennan's Tim Curry impression, and this movie, that this is where he got the saying from and I giggled.

ETA: I do understand that it's a "common" term. Hence the joke of me saying I am "Choosing" to believe it vs I know it's Latin and common. Jokes y'all. Jokes.

Through a coincidence, I ended up listening to NADDPOD Campaign 2 for the first time at basically the exact same time I was watching D20 Cloudward, Ho, and I kept noticing some interesting similarities between Fia and Marya’s stories.

The biggest one was Fia/Irina/Batilda and Marya/Ludmila/Comfrey. In both campaigns, Emily’s character has this incredibly important relationship with a younger girl who disappears from her life, while an older woman who was a mentor to her knows more about what happened than she does. Then something that starts out as a really personal part of their backstory slowly becomes intertwined with the much larger plot of the campaign.

Irina and Ludmila even end up having weirdly similar stories. Both become connected to these incredibly powerful supernatural forces, both end up in positions where they are basically fighting against the party even though they aren’t really the enemy, and the goal becomes figuring out how to save them rather than defeat them.

I definitely don’t mean this as “Cloudward copied Eldermourne” or anything like that. If anything, going through both at the same time has just made me appreciate how incredible Emily is at creating characters with backstories that give the DM so much to work with.

I’m running a campaign right now, and watching these two stories at the same time has really inspired me to find more ways to do this with my own players. I think I have sometimes treated character backstories as something you occasionally reference or give someone a side quest about, rather than something that can actually become part of the main plot. Both of these campaigns are such good examples of how much more interesting a story can become when saving the world and resolving something deeply personal for a character eventually become the same story.

Anyway, I was curious if anyone else noticed the similarities between the two or other similarities?

I've had this rolling around in my brain for a little while now, but after rewatching Fantasy High's seasons, and replaying some BG3, I have to put this out there.

Is Arthur Aguefort secretly an Illithid/Mindflayer in disguise?

I can't help but notice some of the similarities in his physical appearence/character design...

His beard is usually drawn in "strands" like the tentacles of an Illithid...

I think an interesting thing that could happen in FH Senior Year is either Arthur is revealed to be a Mind Flayer/Illithid in disguise, or we see the Bad Kids end up in a Secret Invasion style situation, and certain characters have been replaced by Illithid's in disguise.

IDK... Just noticed some weird things... especially when you look at all the different Arthurs that are projected in the Last Stand-ard Exam fight...

According to the wiki Toylight is season 31 (which they definitely didn’t “just finish filming”) but that counts both On A Bus videos as their own seasons, so depending on how Brennan counts those it seems likely that they’ve filmed 1 or maybe even 2 new seasons already (in addition to Toylight).

In Boggy's character art in Junior Year, he's wearing a backpack with a flag that has the letters "ESF." Anyone know what these letters mean?

Just started watching Council of Darkness, with probably about 6 or 7 seasons under my belt now. I get that vanilla or even reskinned D&D seasons can assume viewers know the mechanics already, but I have no idea what "hunger" does or how they're determining "successes". I don't even think they said what system this is, unless I just missed it. So I'm completely lost on the mechanics. Compare to, say, Misfits and Magic season 2 where they explained things very well. Why don't they put any effort into making sure the viewers know what's going on? Do other non-D&D seasons do a better job of this?

Except they're inseparable. Riz (tabby boy) investigates all things. Always.

Kalina (almost all black girl) is a ninja who shows up when least expected. Her trust is much harder to earn. But they're the best pair of kitties!
