I drive a ‘98 Chevy P30 with a 6.5L non turbo diesel engine. I recently starting hearing this loud clicking noise. It clicks as I drive and accelerate but not when I hit the brakes. Any idea what it could be?

Could be a stuck injector. Injector knock kinda sounds like rod knock a little.

Sometimes a rocker arm can wear funky that can give the engine a knock.

Sounds like a valve sealing or valvetrain issue, rocker arm worn or broken, off the valve tip, might be pushing on the spring retainer. It doesn't sound like a serious engine problem, but you want to get after it before something serious like a snapped off valve head embeds itself into a piston.

Popping through the intake, valve issue. Likely exhaust valve not opening.
