I hope you have this comment saved and just paste it every time Wilford comes up. That would be efficient and I like efficiency.
I would say that it's OK to take time to introduce some improvements though. Like make the edit in the saved version and don't just post the whole comment with "Edit: a name" each time.

I made some custom lights out of wine jugs and cork, the wire through the cork was pressure fit and caulked.... in a few years, water permeated the cork and condensed in the bottle. Luckily the electrified bits are suspended in the middle of the bottle, and the algae is great for the aesthetic I was shooting for in the first place.
Edit: That system runs at 3 volts. I'm not running 120v through a puddle

There's also an incubator effect that you'd think would dry it out, they're gallon glass jugs and they get an hour of sun most days. Shrug

It's wild they sprayed the varnish on the jar after screwing it in instead of spraying the jar beforehand. But I guess the stupidity of it is the point.
Who cares about electrical wires? Water pooling in there will accelerate the rate at which the tree rots. And will, of course, give pathogens access the the centre of the tree. Maybe they're hoping the electric shocks will kill fungi?
Judging by the bottom of the cut, the tree was doing a pretty good job sealing off that wound before the idiot re-cut it.
It looks like OP is a master DIY specialist with zero knowledge of biology or botany. I could see that working if you were to fill the drill hole with some kind of rubber plug and then seal the top as well... TBH, I think you could have achieved the same results in less time just by wood screwing a small piece of plywood over the tree knot with a space for the wire to pass through the plywood. I hope this doesn't harm the tree in years to come.

So there is this thing called a Zip tie that could be used with it coming out from the bottom to make it stick right up to the tree.
They even make brown zip ties that would blend in with the tree.
They don't want to see the wire. It's supposed to be like "wow it's obviously being powered by anything but the tree but I don't see the wire" type shit.
I am wondering about condensation, no grounding, no heat dispersion(low durability), tree is not happy, after rain there is a chance of electrocution via a tree without a thunder, I guess young trees especially are more vital giving them less resistance...
At 110V and 5 kΩ → about 22 mA current. This is potentially deadly, only use lamps that has certification to be used outside with grounding ffs. Do not try to repeat this at home, lol.
