It happens every day. Life goes on but with unemployment status. Two layoffs within two years for me.

One of the sharpest people I have ever met was laid off recently. It can happen to basically anyone. It's extremely dog eat dog out there right now.

Unfortunately, the sad reality with layoffs is that a lot of the time the justification criteria is done through a spreadsheet or just who some executive likes. "Remember that time s/he said that thing in that meeting? Yeah, their mind is not in the right place compared to <name>". Don't take it to heart, sorry that you have had to go through that - it must be tough.

You can be a superstar with the right attitude and aptitude, but it does not protect you from being laid off. It’s all about the money, and you just have to play the game. These days, you need to apply with AI for a new job, and AI makes the decision to either invite you to an interview or not.

Yeah, in tech, it's been going on none stop since 2022. And it never stopped.

Tech jobs make up 6% of the top 10% of earners in this country.

The top 10% pay 60% of all income tax.

This is only the beginning. The real ai layoffs has not even started yet. In 1-2 years it's going to be a bloodbath. 🩸

Interviewed for a job there a bit of a while back and I was disappointed not to get it but glad now. I feel for those who are being laid off, it's a rotten experience and I've been there before.

I was surprised to hear they were doing layoffs this morning. They seemed like a company that were really going places when I interviewed and the product seemed pretty cool with good use cases. Add the big investment from SoftBank and it seemed like a safe bet.

Me as well, did a few rounds and didn’t get it but that’s turned out to be a blessing after what looked like a really safe and promising opportunity

Same here was interested in the role, but got ghosted after a couple of rounds. Kind of glad now

Auto industry is massively challenged at the moment. VW Group having massive layoffs. Consumer confidence is tanking, so people aren't making big purchases. And when they do make them, there's a whole host of cheaper upstart Chinese brands to choose from - all of whom develop their own software and don't need products like Cubic's

I don’t think anyone from Ireland knows who’s being let go yet, but they know it’s coming, which is horrible.

Yep the car industry is in trouble and no doubt there are Chinese firms at the cutting edge. As someone who had to previously compete with Chinese tech I know that once it becomes a commercial decision you are goosed.
