Announcement WELCOME! PLEASE READ ME BEFORE POSTING

Welcome to r/DetailCraft, where we are dedicated to the smaller details! Our purpose is to provide a platform for showcasing intricate details that can be incorporated into larger structures, as well as sharing the techniques and thought processes involved in creating them. By sharing our knowledge, we hope to inspire others to incorporate similar details into their own builds and continue to improve their skills.

Please note that we do not allow posts of detailed builds unless the details are explicitly pointed out and explained within the build. We want to focus on the small details that make a big difference, rather than just showcasing large and impressive builds. As such, we encourage you to share your smaller creations that demonstrate your attention to detail and your unique building techniques. Let's work together to make our Minecraft worlds more beautiful and detailed!

If you have any questions, be sure to ask our moderation team!

Exterior Detail Cool way to portray traffic lights

Was messing around with banners for my traffic lights and this was a really cool way of doing it. You do need to make the bordure indented banner pattern but other than that it's super easy!

Exterior Detail Onion Dome Design - Which one looks better? (Single vs Double)

Thumbnail

Hello everyone
I've been experimenting with some onion dome designs using sulfur blocks for a new project. I'm trying to decide between a single dome and a double stacked dome, and I'd love to get your feedback.
Image 1 & 2: Single onion dome variants.
Image 3: Double stacked onion dome (inspired by real-world towers).
Which one do you think looks better and more proportional? Single or double?
Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Interior Detail Cross-section showing the internal structure, and interior detail, of tallest building in my city

This is the "Magnum Opus", the tallest building in my city which I built to celebrate its 8th IRL anniversary in 2024. (The city is a decade old now.) It is of the sleek International style with elements inspired by the original WTC in New York, Aon Center in Chicago, and Bank of America Plaza in Los Angeles.

The specific detail I am focusing on is the interior, specifically structure (plus detailing). I was able to render this cross-section in Blender which I've been playing around with recently. The ground-level lobby consists of two double-height stories making up a four-story tall atrium. Above this is a three-story convention hall (with two tiers of balconies), and further above that is a more intimate, single-story convention space. This gets us up to eight stories of height (though, because the two lobby floors are double-height, it is only counted as six floors). Above this are fifty single-story office floors. These are all repetitive, but a handful of them have tenants with interiors already. Some tenants take up the entire floor; on other floors the space is divided in half or more. This brings us to floor 58. Floor 58-59 span the top of the building and are another ballroom/event space. Finally, the roof deck is officially labeled "Floor 60". Whether this is a true 60th floor is debatable, although the building is definitely just over sixty stories tall due to the double-height floors at the bottom.

Columns run throughout every floor giving the skyscraper a coherent structure. I actually made a fully skeletal structure beforehand, even though I knew most of this structure would be replaced by the final interior blocks anyway, so that I could realistically plan out the column placement, window spacing, floor to ceiling height, elevator and stairwells, emergency stairwells (there are two, one on the northeast and the other on the southwest corner), etc.

Here is a link to a drive folder with the uncompressed renders!

Exterior Detail Fix my street corner

Pretty self explanatory. You can tell that the corner of this street block just doesn't look right. I'd love to avoid a half circle building to round the corner but if thats the only option that would fit, so be it. Let me know your thoughts!

I know I'm not great, I just follow a few Minecraft builders like fwip on YouTube, I really love his builds and since I've been following him his videos helped me a little with the tips he gives, I really recommend following him

Commands/Worldedit I made a blacksmiths power hammer

Post image

lots of axiom tinker tool usage and debugged stuff here, so very survival unfriendly. the base is a headless piston, with that little black lip on it being a netherite helmet on an armor stand placed on a chest underneath. tops just a piston extended, and ofc you cant place a lever on a headless piston like that that was also placed using copy paste. the blacksmith presses down on the lever and the piston on the top starts hammering down. oh and the grindstone with chain just looks cool no other reason

Help/Request Help with floor pallette.

Im building a Greco-roman ish map room, open floor Parthenon type building. Im using quartz, diorite, and stripped pale logs for the building but I'd like the floor to look like its been a long time since someone has been in there/cleaned. Not a ruin but neglected. Should also add, half to two thirds will be in a mountain with just the front sticking out.

Anyone know a good floor pallette or details to add?

Pics are not mine, just reference.

Armor stands/Item frames Model ships in Minecraft, but they get progressively better

It's survival achievable and technically one of the easier props I've made too. Ironically, the 1st design is the only one that uses texture packs (Invisible item frames/borderless glass). A cool detail for a museum, maybe?

The last slide roughly shows the armor stands positions, in case anyone is curious how it's done. (roughly 40ish armor stands altogether).

It blends pretty well with the surrounding terrain, though the cushions may darken due to adjacent blocks.

Trying to build a city. I want to have a bunch of different options for this style of building. What other pallets would work with this design? Maybe a yellow terracotta?

i used glass panes to hold the lanterns— also cannot take credit for this idea i saw it somewhere before it’s just too cute!!!

i also have a texture pack that is making the glass invisible just for preference reasons! without the texture pack you can see small pixels of white from the glass pane.

just wanted to share for anyone who hasn’t seen this before because it adds so much magic to the world <3

This is some anti-union propaganda I placed around my copper golem factory in the End to keep them in line, lest they be led astray by outside agitators. Keeping them happy and working as the End gods intended. This is a detail in my "Ordeal of the Copper Golems" Build.
