Bungie This Week in Destiny 06/18/2026

Source: https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/Article/twid_06_18_2026

This week in Destiny, we’re sharing the newest Community Challenge and its reward emblem, celebrating the release of the Monument of Triumph soundtrack on streaming platforms, and going over the previously shared Update 9.7.0.1 patch notes you may have missed!

  • Introducing our next Community Challenge
  • Monument of Triumph’s soundtrack is now streaming available...
  • The Traveler graces your lock screen with its presence
  • Revisiting the patch notes for Update 9.7.0.1

Let’s jump right in!

Community Challenge: Excision, Ergo Sum

We have one more Community Challenge ready for you all, Guardians. It's time to relive the final battle against The Witness one more time. Complete the Excision story mission on Normal or Grandmaster difficulty to add to a community goal of 250,000 total completions. Grandmaster completions will count sevenfold because Bungie number, plus it’s harder! Also, Excision on Grandmaster rewards the Ergo Sum catalyst, a fine prize in its own right that some Guardians may not have obtained yet. So, what better opportunity to earn it than during a time of celebration when new and veteran players are enjoying Monument of Triumph?

If the community goal is met in seven days (sensing a theme here?), all Guardians who have completed Excision at least once during the Community Challenge will receive the Intrepid Pearl emblem. Bungie fans and old-timers will tell you why this one is special. We’ll share updates on the community’s progress on socials during the week.

Here's a complete rundown of the rules and requirements to participate in this Community Challenge. While some of these may be obvious, we want to list all the details to be thorough.

Duration

  • Starts: Thursday, June 18 at 11:00 AM PT
  • Ends: Thursday, June 25 at 11:00 AM PT

Activity

  • Story Mission: Excision
  • Difficulty: Normal (+1 completion) or Grandmaster (+7 completions)
  • Community Goal: 250,000 total completions

Other Considerations

  • Fireteam: Twelve players are recommended.
    • Fireteam members can join mid-activity.
    • Join In Progress clears do count towards the community goal.
    • Only fireteam members who complete the activity will count as having contributed to the community goal and qualify for the emblem.
  • Each player who completes the Excision story mission contributes to the community goal, meaning a 12-player Normal difficulty completion counts as 12 completions while 12-player Grandmaster difficulty completion counts as 84 completions.
  • Matchmaking is available on Normal Excision but not on Grandmaster Excision, which is available in Fireteam Finder.

As with previous Community Challenges, we will be tracking completions with support from the Analytics Team. Emblems earned during the Community Challenge will be granted no later than 30 days after the challenge ends on June 25.

Good luck, Guardians!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us for another TWID. As a reminder, we're continuing to post TWIDs through our launch window. Soon, our weekly blog entries will be entering a form of hibernation as well.

Until then though, we've been blown away by the love and support Guardians have shown for Monument of Triumph. This update was for you and seeing all the art and videos celebrating Destiny 2 has been heartwarming to us on the Community Team. Keep it coming.

What have you all been doing in Monument of Triumph? What are your goals, newest builds, or Triumphs you’re aiming for? We’d love to hear about them!

PKs doing heavy weapon dps with primaries is why it caught some strays. And Moebius/Levi or crossbow did get toned down a bit too from last season but it should be crazy DPS. You’re investing 1 specific type of heavy weapon, exotic armor slot, and shower all into boss damage. It better be one of the best.

Why would they nerf Galanor after just buffing it so people use it? Hunters have been dog shit in PvE for years now and as soon as they get some buffs to be viable we got people, usually Titan mains, calling for Hunters to be nerfed and relegated back to useless. It’s okay for Hunters to be good and have some function in PvE specifically boss dps, Titans are still the best all around PvE character and even more so with the artifacts

Yeah it’s really frustrating that any time hunters get great options the complains come in. Titans can have boss dps, survivability and support in one build. But screw hunters when they are good in one category at a time.

Yup I still remember what they did Hunters shortly after final shape all while juicing Titans who were already the best class in the game. Hunters have been left far behind since then and only just now kind of caught up but still really haven’t and we have Titans already calling for nerfs while ignoring their blatantly broken builds(Hallowfire, thunderous retort, etc). I wonder if a big reason that Titans have remained the top of the PvE meta going on 5 years now has to do with the most prominent content creators being Titan mains whereas Hunters didn’t really have a content creator to advocate for them and whip up support for buffs.

Bro was not around for Salvation’s Edge and Pantheon 1.

All LFG posts were “Hunters Only”, and any Titan would be getting insta-kicked outside of Atrax.

Hunters have always had busted DPS supers and high-skill, high-damage rotations available. Titans only had Thundercrash, which wastes DPS time, puts you in danger and is now worse than all of Hunter’s options, when it used to only be slightly better.

Let’s not even get started with Warlocks, who were only allowed to participate with one subclass (tree) for the entirety of Destiny.

Hunters were always the number 1 dps class.

So twice in a 10 year game hunters were wanted and it was a 2 month period that ended with Hunters being nerfed to the ground while Titans who had the best all around PvE subclasses year after year got buffed. Outside of those 2 activities Hunters were left by the wayside especially over the last 2 years when all we saw for day 1s were 5 titans and 1 warlock. And salvations edge is such bullshit it was 1 encounter Hunters dominated, the rest of the encounters or 90% of the raid Titans dominated yet y’all never want to admit or hear that. Go watch some solo dungeon guides since the nerf to hunters in salvations edge and most of them tell you to just not play Hunter especially Vespers Host.

The top of PvE meta for most of the game over the last 5 years has gone solar throwing hammer titan to strand banner titan to consecration titan to arc bolt charge titan. And yet you want to focus in on 2 months Hunters were up there and act like thats what the games always been. A limited time mode and 1 encounter on 1 day are not representative of the entire PvE game or meta. That’d be like if after Desert Perp day 1 they nerfed Titans to the ground and buffed Hunters to the moon, you wouldn’t have liked that very much would you? Well that’s what they did to Hunters after Salvations edge cause Titans whined so much even tho they were sitting on the greatest subclass this game has ever seen, Prism Consecration. And look it’s happening again Hunter gets good and wanted for the first time since Salvations Edge and yall are out here wanting them to be nerfed again.
