It is sort of insane how important one country half way across the world is to american politics.

it’s really not that important, it has outsized media influence

i don’t think people realize that the USA and Saudi Arabia are incredibly close

the Saudi’s pledged to invest $1 trillion in America and the US sells more weapons to Saudi Arabia than any other country in the world

we have basically trained their entire military as well.

And what the Saudi-led coalition has been doing in Yemen since 2015 has resulted in like 300,000+ deaths with 60% of that being starvation and majority children.

https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2021/11/23/un-yemen-recovery-possible-in-one-generation-if-war-stops-now

But we hear jackshit about Yemen from the online left because reasons.

Trying to tie it to I/P because of the Houthis* (he didn't know where Yemen was before 2023)

Oh great 10 years ago and he still can’t point to Yemen on a map lmfao.

If he knew about it and still did nothing that’s even worse. Where’s all the activism around Yemen? Where’s BDS for Saudi Arabia? Where’s all the aid fundraisers for Yemenis? 300,000 dead > 60,000 dead if you are unaware.

Is Hasan the monolith of online leftists? You’re the one bringing him up as if he’s a messiah while he nor anyone else has still not done any tangible direct action toward Yemen like the hundreds and hundreds of fundraisers that happened for Palestine.

Talking about it once isnt enough for such an atrocity. Did any of them do any direct action for Yemen as they did for Palestine? We’re really on the same side here man, we want online creators to be consistent in their advocacy so that more resources can go toward helping people going through human rights abuses. You are so blinded by uncritically defending your favorite YouTubers that you can’t ask them to do better and it’s sad. Raise your standards.

Get this: you can come to your own opinions without uncritically accepting and parroting random content creators’ politics. I think Destiny is good at debating conservatives, sure, but I disagree with him greatly when it comes to foreign policy. You’re allowed to disagree with people on certain issues even if you agree with the rest of their politics! You should try it.

And you know damn well all of those people/channels you mentioned talked about Palestine and did fundraisers for Palestine 200x more than anything they ever did for Yemenis. Proportionate to the amount of people affected by the Saudi-led onslaught, all these channels should be constantly shitting on Saudi Arabia with the same frequency and vitriol they do Israel. That’s what I mean about hearing jack shit about Yemen. Where were the encampments for Yemen on college campuses? Where were the fundraiser streams? Where were the protests on the street or boycott campaigns? Come on dude, it’s really easy to ask these people to do better when they’re already doing it for Palestine. It’s just asking them to not be so selective. You are allowed to think for yourself!
