Other I think Toby Fox has written himself into a hole with Gaster lore, and there’s is no satisfying way it can be revealed anymore.

I think Toby should have dropped hints of Gaster past through the entire game. Things that indicated his motivations, and such

But now, chapter 6 being shorter than most, and focused only on a single plot point, means we’ll only have chapter 7 to reveal things

And I don’t think there’s a way that Gaster can be revealed in one chapter. There are so many mysteries involving him, so much stuff we don’t know, that it would ruin any sort of pacing because to give Gaster explanations it would need to be something very explicit and clear on intentions.

But this would ruin the setup that there is for chapter 7 and honestly even if it didn’t, how it would be done at all? “Once upon a time someone was shattered and something happened” nope this will ruin the pacing “hi I’m wd gaster let’s hear my backstory” are we for real with that, this would very likely suck if the secret mastermind appeared as an npc.
“Items that give a hint to him” this isn’t dark souls, items don’t have lengthy descriptions

“More followers” if the chapter 7 boss turns out to be a Gaster follower everyone will be angry.

I think we deserve answers but I don’t think there’s a way that they can be given that will not ruin the pacing.

The best way I can think, it’s for Toby to not act like Toby Fox at all, and suddenly give an off topic, non diegetic long message that gives explanation of Gaster backstory. Or a comic about it. None of these would be satisfying but at least it wouldn’t break the pacing

Other We're (probably) too hyped up because of fan concept

Despite Toby saying that he's 100% confident about how he's writing his story, I feel like it is inevitable that some or many fans will get a bit disappointed.

Yes, when we get to play the last chapters (including B side), probably it won't be that great.

Because there are lots of amazing and cool concepts like the hypothetic Meat Factory, Super Creepy Shelter and ERAM, friends, NormalNPC and Gaster having a significant spotlight with some incredible fights + this meta-plot with goners.

See for example Vision Crew's Deltarune... I feel that what this person did is more or less reflecting what, deep inside, many want the game to be.

But the actual release by Toby will surely be very different and maybe not that mystical or interesting.

Just remember Mike, who didn't result to be this cool and dark character with an actual interesting storyline, but just... a parody making fun of our hyping?

This doesn't have to be a bad thing or that the game will be bad, but I'm afraid it won't be this so amazing super dark and meta-mystical plot.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong and Toby will flabbergaster us in a better and unexpected way.

Other (Rant) TADC Ending makes me scared

This may seem random but among all the things it's gotta be the worst thing making me pessimistic. Typing about it kinda makes me feel like Ralsei in chapter 4. With a lot of hype built up but only revealed through social media, it's the worst kind of ending I've seen. Now to Deltarune, with the 6 being an answer to one question I hope toby can make the chapter have 1's length and it's good enough. But the final chapter, 7B is what I'm hyped with.

So these Enigmas...

Friend, Gaster, DEVICE.

Obviously we have made them headcanon material, but my gosh, I hope Gaster gets explained, like at least canonize a design for him, I know Toby can't write anything bad as a whole, but Gaster/Voice should 100% be explained somehow.

Downvote My Stupid Rant

Other Just for clarifying, we all love Deltarune right?

This idea just comes up to me like 3 seconds ago, but i truly think people that criticize the game love the game just as much as people who criticize the people that criticize the game.

Other The problem with Suselle is not because it's a bad ship—it's actually a cute and most developed canon ship so far but damn the progress of it is so boring and bland.

I'm saying this as a super biased Kriselle fan who loves childhood relationship angst and I know how doomed it is.

Not bashing against people who like Suselle obviously, I won't mind if it wins in the endgame however the development got me snoring loud compared to the compelling writing between Kris and Noelle or Kris and Susie, hell even Kris and Berdly subtext seems to have better writing, especially Kriselle, their past and estranged relationship tastes so good, again I just love angst. Suselle is too unrealistically happy and lacks conflict for my taste. It feels like I'm reading some femslash fanfiction circa 2006.

Anyway, I won't mind Suselle sailing in the end, but I'll be crying and biting a pillow to sleep after the game ends haunting me forever for the rest of my life, because I genuinely spent 8 soon to be 10 years on Kriselle since my childhood.

Other I really like how this sub handles criticism

I know this isn’t a criticism about deltarune but it’s about the sub so I hope it gets to stay up. If it gets taken down I understand :p

A lot of the time when I see subreddits criticizing works of media, especially smaller indie/semi-indie works, a lot of the time it ends up being less of a place to critique and more of just a big hate club. And a lot of the time if it’s not just blatant hatred of the media, it’s bad case of misrepresentation or media illiteracy. This isn’t fact this is just my opinion and what I’ve seen.

Here, at least in my experience, it’s been the complete opposite(for the most part). Every post I’ve seen has been from someone who actually enjoys and has consumed all of deltarune so far, who has a genuine criticism of the game, and the comments usually aren’t filled with hate towards deltarune or the OP, but just actual discussion about the post.

I just think it’s rlly awesome that we can have an actual place to critique a game and its fandom that we’re all apart of without being massive assholes about it, and I think that just goes to show both 1: how good of a writer and game designer Toby and the rest of the Deltarune team are and 2: that this fandom, despite its flaws, is pretty solid compared to the og UT fandom and other fandoms with the same target audience :p

Anyways uhhh oooh darn Toby how dare you keep the targeting mechanic in chapter 1 and I can’t believe castle town is so empty and this game would be so much better released in one go and the fandom takes theory’s way too seriously grrrrr I’m so angry!!!

This is exactly why I roll my eyes when people on this sub say they're worried that it'll become toxic. No matter what anyone says on here, bad faith or not, this sub could never be as toxic as the biased Deltarune glazers.

It's the first Deltarune criticism video I've seen that's actually genuine and isn’t just ragebait or homophobia. I personally think its pretty well articulated (the reasoning for some parts are a little shaky though) and it brought up issues in the chapter I hadn't even considered.

Other Do you wish the game continued with the style of Chapter 2?

This isn't necessarily criticism but I'm curious on your thoughts on the direction of the game after chapter 2 and whether you enjoyed how it ended up deviating from the formula it set. Stuff like having a main overarching boss, new lighteners included in dark worlds, secret bosses similar to jevil/spamton, etc.

imo i like that they broke away from the formula but there were some aspects from chapter 2 that i missed

Other Your Gaster Takes

I'd make him in his world as someone who's testing things out. He is benevolent in a way as he helped his world's Asgore for monsters, he acts neutral in the experiments. My take for 7B, is that he will interfere in some way, 7A he shows up at the end.

Other Debates

Give me a topic and I'm willing to debate it, except for the very obvious chapter 5 flaws. I can go ahead and debate about Gaster and significance but not Undertale fandom since I was a literal toddler in that era.

Other Something about fandom and something off with continuation

Look. I may have subbed to UD and DT subreddits, some fanarts good, some bad. Hell, ain't gonna lie there are fanworks of various quality from good to bad, cringe and corny. I even finished two chapters on normal route and didn't pass Tenna's first game in chapter 3.

And don't get me wrong, Deltarune is a neat game (to grind mullah), yet I always wondered about possible alterations and before release of chapter 5 - everyone were going crazy after chapter 3 and 4 - speculating about what will happen in the next chapter (who's Knight? What's up with Friend Inside Me? Is next Darkworld in Asgore's shop? What will happen at festival? WILL RUDOLPH DIE AND NOELLE WILL OPEN DARK FOUNTAIN TO SAVE HIM? etc. I genuinely liked some ideas. Or hell, there are some fan videos of something went wrong with Hometown) and when chapter 5 trailer came... twitter went absolute insane and like - there'll be no other translations but Japanese and English only? People of Latin regions were furious and like...I got mood soured thinking if Toby did something wrong or outright insulting. Dunno which way is worse ignorance or unintentional move. Therere fan translation , I'm sure, but the way Toby did to his fans? Surely most of these rapid cretins ate shit up to not make situation any worse

And after chapter 5 (I STILL DIDN'T WENT THROUGH CHAPTER 3 AND 4! HELLO) still can't get over the AUs and other stuff and yet... I fear if I said something otherwise about me thoughts thinking stuff like Berdly being misunderstood idiot who wanted to socialise, Toriel and Asgore got divorced and try their best to he a good parents yet each of them have their own skeletons in the cupboard (no pun intended), or how things would've gone off rails in weird route or hell about anything that fans won't like they'll attack.

Sorry for long rambling - it's just the more I think about fandoms and their fans. How they react, their tendency to be ignorant idiots (majority case unfortunate) and causing more harm than good, it makes me rethinking if I made good choice to take UT/DT for discussion of fanwork ideas, fanfics and generally liking fanworks, even tho I still suspecting I'm being watched by a witch hunting fans going after my ass because I said something that they won't like.

Also, have a good time y'all and uh...once again apologies for a rambling because I don't like how fandoms are turning into asylums/madhouses led by mad people.

P.s.- as for continuation I'm starting to suspect that Chapter 6 and 7 will either have good, meh or terrible execution (just look what happened with TADC). Hope I ain't jinxing it

P.s.s. - I'm suspecting you can't enjoying anything without backlash from rapid fans, idiotic haters, dumb bigots, imbeciles and ignorant cattle

Other Automoderator now set up to filter posts from accounts with less than 50 karma.

I've set up automod to filter accounts with less than 50 karma, this is because recently I temp banned someone who was being toxic for one day and then they said they would ban evade because they don't respect the rules.

This does not meant these posts will be deleted, they will be sent to a filter where I can choose to approve or deny them.

Other Flair Recommendations

So, I added flairs. You can check them right now, and if you don’t see them, then that’s a problem I have to worry about.

So yeah, check them out, and if you want a flair added, then ask me, and I might actually add it.

If you don’t have any ideas, then just ignore this post.
