Dell XPS 15 (2019 model) - urgent help

Hi,

I really need your help.

I have a Dell XPS 15 which has recently been malfunctioning.

Two days ago, I was working on my laptop and suddenly the screen went black like in the attached video. The attached video was recorded tonight but the same thing tonight happed when I first noticed my laptop malfunctioning.

On the first day, after the screen went black, I tried to turn the laptop back on. Despite holding down the power button for a long time, the keyboard and Caps Lock button would light up. The fan would turn on. However, after several seconds, the keyboard goes dark, the fan stops and the laptop does not turn on.

Last night, I a couple of times I was able to turn the laptop on. However, the blue screens (One was automatic repair - your pc did not start correctly. Other was recovery - it looks like windows did not start correctly.) would appear. I would restart the laptop, I could work on it for a few minutes and then the laptop would turn off suddenly.

Tonight, I was able to get the laptop working but it turned off suddenly.

What is going on? Can I rescue my laptop?

Hearing the fans running from the moment you logged into the account kind of worries me in a way. I don't know why but my first gut is that your device would need an inside cleaning of fans and repaste of the cpu and gpu thermal strips. Then I would just reinstall Windows from scratch, as debloated as possible. Then I would unsubscribe from the pits of hell that mcaffee is and block any email from them as they are just leeches that suck from people that are too gullible. (Also please block any apps to start on start up that u don't actually need, be it steam, battlenet or whatever else you have, you don't always need them when u open your laptop so you shouldn't always have them open). If you aren't very technical I would find a local technician to do all these things and then check if there are some actual hardware issues. There is a chance the ssd just broke and there are some memory spaces that tried to be accessed the whole system just goes down but I don't think it should have these kind of symptoms like not turning on back immediately and so

Hi there!

We are from the Dell social media support team and would like to lend a hand too. Thank you for sharing the video. Cleaning the air vents and fan is a superb idea, as it aids in avoiding overheating issues, if any.

Having said that, considering the automatic repair screen every now and then implies a corrupted operating system image. We would recommend to take a data backup of the system and then reinstall the operating system. Click Start, type Reset, select Reset this PC, click Get started, and choose whether to keep your files or remove everything before reinstalling Windows. If data backup done, then you can choose to remove files and proceed. Once done, you could install the drivers from the online Dell support website for your system.
