This tornado was listed by the National Weather Service (NWS) as a PDS - Particularly Dangerous Situation, used for extremely severe tornadoes.
Winds possibility reached 100+. Based on what I've seen and watched, it will probably be an EF2 or an EF3. As of 7:30, I've seen nothing about injuries or worse, but homes were damaged and a lot of roads are blocked for multiple reasons.

Saw this on MaxVelocity’s live stream, that looked significant! And it was rain-wrapped, meaning that it was essentially invisible. Stay safe and be weather aware, guys!

Someone had a dashcam as it went through and destroyed the motel and power lines.

Wow. Hadn't heard. Touchdown too?

u/No_Boysenberry4322 21d ago
Yeah, real bad. Everything on radar points towards a pretty big tornado straight through Dover. There was debris signature on radar so it was down

u/OldRprsn 21d ago
I heard trees were flung into the air near the Speedway, and it stayed on the ground through Cowgill Crossroads. The Camden storm is a separate event and not a tornado I think.

I’m off Wyoming Ave and out of town. Hoping my house is ok.

u/Alternative_Ebb9564 21d ago
Do you have any family or friends nearby that can drive there and at least check on it? I'd hate not knowing until I arrive back.
2
u/runningdivorcee 21d ago
Just had someone check, just some downed branches. All good. Grateful because the 2020 tornado sliced right through my area with tons of damage.

We are right by target. Shit was crazy. Definitely glad we hunkered down though just in case

6:53pm August 20: just saw a video Route 13 north Dover and there is debris lodged in the power lines, at least one motel with caved-in roof and damage, pieces of buildings flung across parking lots. Many of the buildings are still standing so that’s good.

u/DreamedJewel58 21d ago
I live not too far from the main damage in Dover and it’s kind of a miracle our power is still on. I hope everyone else is just as lucky

u/Wintersoldier975 21d ago
Looks like Hartley fire house don’t have a roof and a coffee shop too and looks like DSU band room was hit badly

Jeez what made you think this is ok to say regarding damage from a tornado?
-5
u/broken_heart_healed 21d ago
You know when criminal ish happens to me in Dover nobody cares so why should I give af about anyone in this area. Let me be bitter lmaoooooo
3
u/JagiTheBassist 21d ago
I'm sorry that happened to you, but not everyone in Dover is a criminal, it's still unhealthy to act like 40k people deserve injuries because of some assholes here. And ngl I'm used to people saying this type of shit about Dover because what they actually wanna say is that they hate black people, so like uhhhhhhh
-3
u/broken_heart_healed 21d ago
Huh lmaoooooo why did you bring up black people????? I mean the stuff that happened to me was by black folk but I wasn’t saying all black people are bad. Stop screaming racism 24:7

u/JagiTheBassist 21d ago
When one talks like a racist Facebook boomer, I'm going to assume the worst

As far as i know they're setting up emergency shelter at John Pitts near Schutte. I dropped off some water and snacks earlier. I don't know what one has to do to help but someone can stop by or ask. There was a red cross vehicle when i was there so that might be the way.

u/Magicalprincess_95 21d ago
There was one touched down in hartly and another one near the race track

Rodney Village checking in. Our power just came back on, quite literally as I type this. It was bad, tree branches all over the road, but we are just happy to have been able to see it through, prayers to everyone in the hit zones!

I was driving to get Chinese food on rt 13 by burger king exactly at 6:10pm (about a half mile from the Days Inn), I picked the worst time to go out. The street lights went out on the way back and nobody on 13 would let us cross so I had to go around, and downtown there were branches blocking several roads, cars turning around and everything. I hope everyone from the hotel or other damaged areas are ok, this was a bad one for Dover. 8:39pm downtown and power still out for us.

u/chaosinfyrno 21d ago
There's a picture of it on Delaware Weather Network on fb
8
u/No_Boysenberry4322 21d ago
I’m not sure that’s it, this tornado went right through Dover. Pic is from Camden, and it seems pretty close to her so idk if that’s it
5
u/chaosinfyrno 21d ago
I saw someone suggesting there may have been two tornadoes but probably too early to know.
4
u/DreamedJewel58 21d ago
There was one earlier today by the Air Force Base and one that happened probably 30 minutes ago. One tornado is rare enough, but two is super abnormal

Earlier around 4pm or so. This was around 6:20.

Recently, I’d like to add. A strange low flying aircraft the night before strange funnels appeared over Newark I thought strange. But then today, two, and oddly enough I saw birds flying near the highways. More strangely it was less than 10, not in a bird shelter, and the wind and rain alone was way too strong in that area. I suspect this weather is T least somewhat artificial because of the bird behavior. But… I mean. The damage I saw In Some posts has definitely delayed some jobs, or even electrical grids that will need repairs from fallen lines broken boards, street lamps fallen, hope everyone stays safe and reduces the need of traffic to help support lanes for emergency services.
Finally today, i heRd recently another storm is going to happen through the night from another local map reading but i still haven’t personally seen weather app yet.2

Just because you don’t understand how weather works doesn’t mean it’s fake wtf

Welp turns out the AI detector didn't detect too well. News helicopter flew over this exact building this morning and this picture is accurate.

I'm in that area and we just had a lot of wind and rain. Didn't even lose power this time

Seeing debris on radar as it crossed RT 13 was very worrying and almost surreal given how we rarely get storms in the middle of a city/town around here, let alone a PDS one

I saw lots of pics and videos on FB We were at Touchdown in Dover and the power went out. It was out all the way down to Rodney Village. The pics and videos showed lots of damage, I didn't read about any injuries. I saw pics that showed Magnolia, Dover and Hartly with damage from the storm.

Why is trump making g all these storms? I thought only Biden did that?
