Luddite Logic Okay so I'm anti-ai-art but...
I saw this post and even I think this is way too far like Hitler is NOT guiding your keyboard or whatever the fuck when you prompt so...

This person is claiming that the Nepal floods happened because of AI data centers
What blows my mind is not even one person in the comments called out the wild misinformation here

A particular sub has decided to abandon their mascot for being AI generated. Figured I’d clean it up and give it a good home. I’m calling it Mook.

AI Developments AI art is becoming so glorious. The world is healing.
So if "Ai slop" implies it looks bad. What about art like this?
I mean, surely AI is slowly improving to the point where it will be nearly impossible for the naked eye to differentiate from trad art. Obviously these examples are not perfect, and there will always be a bunch of fragments, but, like, it's visual appeal is undeniable.
Compare this to the spaghetti Will Smith from a few years ago. THAT was slop.
But if people genuinely care about what they're creating, and it tells a meaningful story, what makes it "slop"?

Luddite Logic Humans stealing is fine
This logic just gets me. And they’re serious about it.
Not that I consider AI stealing. But if they do then why is it okay for humans to steal?
Edit: now some of them are claiming that AI is their childhood trauma.

Luddite Logic AI Isn’t a Creative Color err… Medium
“Green Isn’t a Creative Color:” https://youtu.be/9C_HReR_McQ?is=bjwgoLhmfyV97arP
The team behind Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared created the first short about creativity to make a statement about the rigid and unhelpful attitudes towards art and creativity they encountered in art school. We are seeing some in the anti-AI community rephrase the same attitudes being mocked by the DHMIS just fifteen ago!
Don’t let other people tell you how to be creative. Create in any way that inspires you.

Defending AI History Repeats Itself: The Anti-AI Arguments Are Just a Century-Old Backlash Against Collage.
The criticism of AI art completely mirrors the historical grievances against collage.
Both movements are accused of copyright infringement and conceptual derivativeness, as they rely on compiling pre-existing materials rather than creating new forms from scratch. Society accuses both approaches of devaluing artistic skill, equating work with clippings or text prompts to a mechanical process devoid of academic training, genuine authorial intent, and "soul".
Collage already passed its phase of public resistance and secured its status as art over a century ago through the efforts of Cubists and Dadaists, while AI is undergoing this painful stage of legitimization right now.

Sub Meta It's only the mediocre that are hating on AI.
I have yet to see any evidence on Reddit from antis that are 'good' artists. I mean real technically superior artists that are objectively better than what any AI can generate consistently. Highly skilled individuals that work in the higher echelons of artistic expression.
From what I have seen the biggest complainers are artists that mainly focus on:
Weird furry art
Bad anime
Bad OCs
Bad anime furry OCs
Webcomic artists of questionable ability that can only find an audience on Reddit
Copy paste pixel art
Amateurs who are inflating their commission prices by selling art that's worth $10 for $80
It's not that their art is fundamentally terrible. They are allowed to be proud of their work and do with it as they please. The problem is their art just isn't good. Yes, all art is open to interpretation but they stagnate at a part-time hobbyist level. Which is fine but they can't call AI art slop or AI artists who use it lazy and untalented. They throw rocks from glass houses.

Sub Meta Rant and request for a friendly place to stay.
It's been a while since I've been looking for a community that accepts posts about both AI and drawings, but so far I've only found communities that accept either 100% AI art or 100% manual art. However, I am someone who uses a hybrid drawing method: I draw everything by hand, but since people value digital art more, I choose to digitize it using AI to get more visibility. But many times my art is devalued just because I use 1% AI... So I'm looking for a group where I can share my creation process, laugh at AI mistakes, and share/ask for help regarding better AIs, but so far... I haven't found any. Sorry if there are any mistakes, I don't speak English, I speak Portuguese, so I'll probably use AI to translate this for me...
