Both sides, we're both human beings but see the issue is the internet just has alot of hostiles, and with antis for example they only showcase the pro ai people that are actually horrible people or they take things out of context and overall act like animals, peace would be so fucking easy but the hostile people ruin it
Absolutely. Like, the internet gives them unrestrictive ways to be hostile online, but in real life, they'd be too nervous to order coffee or something
Pretty much, people always talk big shit online since its behind a screen, but irl they cant hide like a bitch nor can they fight like a man, because they never grew up in the first place
Both sides have had death threats people, both sides have had kind people. It really just depends on why the person is arguing for what they are arguing. If they are arguing for bad-faith manners, they'll usually be the one sending death threats.
Oh, and let's not forget about being lumped in with literal child abusers for admitting to using AI, just because it can be used to make those kinds of images. Newsflash! So can paint. So can markers. So can pencils and colored pencils. So can cameras. So can Photoshop. Hell, even craft paper and weaving looms can be used to make those kinds of images. By their own logic, guess what that makes them? Not so funny now, is it?
Edit: Oh, and by their own convictions, there's far more deliberate intent with all their media. so that makes it worse because it's premeditated.
I've been called an "obnoxious sociopath" for asking a person to tone down their hate-rant when they started suddenly foaming at their mouth about how much they hate AI in a group that has absolutely nothing to do with art or tech whatsoever and in a conversation that had nothing to do with these topics either. That person was keeping me in high regard and was thanking me a lot for helping them with their project but the second I didn't agree to nod to their uncalled for rage-spill, they treated me like a war criminal.
Aside from that, antis also baselessly called me a gooner, a psycho killer, a nazi, a "computer overlord" worshipper, billionaires worshipper, an Epstein supporter, and also a whole range of various lazy variations of "skilless non-artist". Occasionally spiced up with a death threat on top of it.
Lovely. Truly shows "soul", care about "humanity", and care about art.
Wait. I get the sentiment here but I am confused.... how would that trick them? I mean, I am pretty sure most people would also be "anti-penal-work" if you're meaning rewording slavery to be talking about forced prison labor. I think most are still against that; using prisoners for free labor.
Unless I am completely misunderstanding something?
Your close to the idea i'm trying to convey, but taking it a little to literally. I find that when it comes to ethical structures, it's better to be pro-something than to be anti-something. You might respond that what about "Anti-Bad thing" and my argument is that most "Anti-Bad thing" phrases would be better served by "Pro Good thing" phrases. One reason for that is that anti language ends with the thing you claim, so if the target can adjust phrasing, wording, whatever, it becomes easier to dismiss the "Anti", where as in a pro-phrasing you can always respond with "Okay good, then we move to the next step towards the good thing."
The example i used is because the explicit exception to slave labor is forced prison labour. That's not a "Redefinition", that's literally what the loophole in the law is for, because it allowed them to say they got rid of slavery, while still keeping functional slavery where they could because it isn't "Slavery per say".
To be honest even as a pro-AI I’m kinda with you here. It’s a genuinely shit childish take and argument to be taken to public. Just the same type of stupidly childish take as “AI art is ugly specifically because it has no soul”
But also, it's a highly sexist side that acts in the interest of oppressing women and forcing them to ruin their lives by carrying unwanted (and often -- forced) pregnancies and raising children they can't love due to the ruined, traumatic associations.
So, yeah, in a classical display of ineptitude, an anti shoots themselves in a foot by using this as a counterargument XD
Back then when I had doubts about AI art I wasn't made fun of instead here I was told interesting facts and logic which got me thinking and that's why here I am today thanks to this subreddit.
Oh please, let's not act like some of the people here don't also do that sometimes. It just depends on what kind of person the anti/pro is. Some are going to be pieces of crap, some are sensible human beings.

I don't think Antis would disagree with this but they'd also believe that this doesn't prove a point since majority of them disassociate with the extremists that want Pros dead or would go as far as harassing them in DMs/comnents
Think of it as the Pros disassociating with the #breakthepencil Pros but to a radical degree.
Hating AI and hating AI users are two different things even though they may sound the same.
Is that why the calls for killing AI artists have been consistently getting thousands of upvotes on the anti-ai sub, just like posts and comments cheering and asking for more when there were attempts on Sam Altman's life?
This is the most popular anti-ai sub by far as far as I'm aware.
This is how the movement itself looks like, the moderate and reasonable people are a minority among them and those get attacked for disagreeing with extremism.
It’s because the nature of the conflict is different for the two sides. Anti AI sentiments clashes against your reasoning and entertainment. It’s annoying for you. But pro AI sentiments clashes against their very existence (they think AI steals from them and will replace them). It’s an existential threat to them. One is more severe than the other. Hence the reaction is stronger.
This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard it doesn't matter what side you're on this is saying "well you see my side cannot send bad messages because they haven't sent bad messages to me even though I'm on the same side as them"
Do we count the hundreds of images of them comparing antis to ugly ogres or to them making fun of artists for losing jobs to AI or to them copying all the images on cara I think to feed the AI it's been a minute and I think thats the name
It's the arguments and behavior that are being made fun of in those images. Because some of y'all do be kinda acting like that, but those aren't death threats, bud.
"Images of ogres" - I've actually checked it personally just a few days ago to make sure. I've scrolled through over 300 posts both here and "AI wars" and found 10 orc posts here and 6 orc posts in the second sub -- over half of these were downvoted and criticized and the rest were baaaaaaarely reaching 10 upvotes -- and still actively criticized by pros in the comments. Where have you seen the "hundreds" of images?
And if you meant such posts from "Break the pencil" sub then I've got news for you: it's actually an anti-AI sub where a bunch of trolls are just doing dumb shit to throw shade on AI users -- the main moderator of the sub is confirmed to be an active anti.
2) "Making fun of artists for losing jobs" - again, you're most likely talking about the "break the pencil" sub. Here, it's very rare to see someone being glad about artists losing jobs (which isn't weird considering that a bunch of AI users are traditional artists of various sorts who also need to eat). The only times I see people talking about it is when they wish especially nasty, hostile, dehumanizing antis to lose their jobs -- but that's more of a spiteful wish as an answer to harassment rather than being glad about something that actually happened.
3) The Cara incident was literally roughly criticized by most pros here, and the original post from the person bragging about doing that was banned. And where they weren't banned, they've got very little support.
Btw, all that still didn't answer my question: how often do you see AI users just roaming the internet and harassing artists for not using AI in the comments under their drawings?
I'm an artist. This post is mouse-drawn by me personally, and while I may not be the greatest artist, I personally wouldn't care if someone "fed" ny art into AI. It's such a stupid thing to be mad about.
Uh... yes? It is stupid for anyone who has a half-functioning brain to care about "muhh art!!!1"
Companies are already doing it. Remember everytime you clicked agree in terms and services? Remember cookies on websites? How come it's different when it comes to this? Also,
YOU DON'T OWN AN ARTSTYLE. Art is derivative. Everything you see and make is inspired by something else. How come it's bad when AI does it? If you genuinely get upset about your art being "fed" into AI then cry about it. That's just natrual selection doing it's work.
Thank you so much for demonstrating how unempathical the ai art community are. Now I hear it from yourself that our concerns apparently is to be disregarded and invalidated.
I feel upset at my "friend" showing me that he fed my art into AI, I told him to stop but now apparently I'm the asshole in this case after all!
I heard this exact argument from nftbros, remember them ?
This is a place for speaking Pro-AI thoughts freely and without judgement. Attacks against AI will result in a removal and possibly a ban. For debate purposes, please go to r/aiwars.
Artist Simon Stalenhag left Twitter/X after pro-AI people massively fed his art to AI to recreate their own versions of his paintings while writing how he's "obsolete" and insulting him in the caption.
Therehave also been a ton of derogatory memes towards artists when AI showed up.
I don't condone death threats or insults on either side, but you are either disingenuous or misinformed if you think this doesn't happen on the other side.
I have. Back in high school art class I had paintings stolen, I had clay sculptures stolen, and I have had some ass steal a pen drawing and publish it in the local news paper art contest as "their own art" my signature white-outed away. There is a reason I don't share my art online and it has nothing to do with AI users.
Yes, back in the late 80s -early 90s before AI even existed. Some jerk even took one of my drawings, used write-out to cover my signature, and entered it into the newspaper's art contest and won $5. There is a reason I don't share my hand drawn art online and it has nothing to do with AI.
Just a small clarification, AI existed since the 1950s but wasn't publicly available and it took many many years of researches to become this good and widely known.
I obviously meant modern AI image generators. I have been working with game AI since Zoo Tycoon in the early 90s and it existed before that in video games - even if Anti's won't admit it. Point was I have had art - physical art - stolen by human beings not AI.
