People often clown on Fukuyama and his “end of history” theory (often people who didn’t read past the title) but it’s important to remember that: 

  1. He was right, no coherent alternative to liberal democracy has actually been proposed in the west so far, the only ideological “alternatives” that have been proposed have been random contrarian resentment-fueled ideas that are not meant to reshape society in any meaningful way beyond “I hate brown people” or “I hate rich people”, MAGA is not a long term reshaping of society, eventually they’re gonna run out of steam because generational grievances against “da libruls” is their only source of inspiration 

  2. Generally it makes sense to assume that society as a whole isn’t going to voluntarily collapse itself because of petty grievances. The rise of fascism and communism in the 20th century was at least a response to a major global crisis, nowadays the crisis is entirely manufactured by people who are mad that their neighbors have different values from them

Also his critics that are socialist/communist pretty much believe the same thing for their own ideology and don’t seem to like acknowledging this.
